Chapter 43: Little Uncle

“You’re going to Capital City in a few days?” An Nuan asked. “Since you’re going to leave your car with me, do you need me to send you to the airport?”

“It’s alright. I will take the first flight to Capital City and need to leave very early,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

Although Lin Xiao Feng would be happy to spend more time with An Nuan, he did not want to make her wake up very early for him.

“I will be going to the airport with Feng An Yu. Coincidentally, An Yu is heading to Capital City for some work matters.”

An Nuan sighed.

She really admired and was jealous of Lin Xiao Feng’s friendship with his group of friends. Unlike her, the number of friends that she could count on can be counted on one hand.

“I got married but only Zhang Yu Han and Su Ming Yuan were able to attend my wedding.”

An Nuan laughed when she understood what was going on. “Alright. It has been a while since I met everyone else. I wonder if they have changed so much.” She was not nervous about meeting everyone as they all went to the same school.

The two chatted briefly before Lin Xiao Feng finally turned off the engine. He alighted from the car before helping An Nuan with the door.

Lin Xiao Feng had his eyes on An Nuan. He was very reluctant to part.

Once again, Lin Xiao Feng had to remind himself to be patient.

An Nuan had her heart broken a week ago. He should take their relationship slow.

The soft voice made both An Nuan and Lin Xiao Feng turn around and see the little boy run over in their direction.

An Nuan crouched down the moment the little boy reached to her side. “Yi Ran, why are you here?” She patted the boy’s head and enjoyed the feeling of his soft hair under her skin.

“I saw Little Uncle’s car parked in front of the house for a long time,” An Yi Ran said. “Little Aunt, why don’t you invite Little Uncle in?”

An Nuan glanced at Lin Xiao Feng. There was an awkward smile on her face.

In the past, Pei Zhi Yi had tried to make An Yi Ran call him Little Uncle. However, the young boy would not speak a word. Now that she thought about it, An Nuan remembered that her nephew would often run off whenever Pei Zhi Yi came to visit.

They say that children are more sensitive.

An Nuan wondered if her nephew had long known that Pei Zhi Yi was bad news.

“I won’t be coming in. I have to go now,” Lin Xiao Feng said to the young boy. “Maybe next time.”

He had occupied An Nuan’s time for hours.

Lin Xiao Feng was sure that An Nuan was tired after going out with him and meeting his family members.

An Yi Ran lowered his head in disappointment. For now, he could only watch as Lin Xiao Feng left.

Seeing that Lin Xiao Feng had reached the gate, An Nuan turned to her nephew again and held his hand. “Yi Ran, let’s go in.”

“Alright.” The little boy nodded obediently.

An Nuan led her nephew into the house and closed the door behind her. When she turned around, An Nuan saw that An Yi Ran still had his eyes on her.

The look on his face showed as if he had something he wanted to say to her.

An Nuan touched the tip of An Yi Ran’s nose and chuckled. “You have something you wanted to say to me?”

The little boy pursed his lips as he hesitated. “Little Aunt, you are now married to Little Uncle. Then, why don’t you live together with him? A married couple should live together, right? Just like my parents and my grandparents.”

An Nuan was startled to hear her nephew’s words. She had never thought that An Yi Ran would have such thoughts.

“Well, we have a few things that we have to sort out before we can live together,” An Nuan said. “Your Little Uncle has some work he needs to do. He’s a very busy man.”

“So, it’s like that.” An Yi Ran nodded again. “He’s going outstation just like my father.”

An Nuan laughed again. “You…” She could not resist touching the little boy’s soft hair again. “An Yi Ran, when did you learn to call him your Little Uncle? I remember you addressing him as Uncle Lin in the past.”

“Little Auntie, you are married to Little Uncle. Of course, I have to change the way I address him,” An Yi Ran said. “This is what my mother told me.”

An Nuan smiled. She met the little boy’s eyes and saw the sparkle in them. An Yi Ran seemed excited when he talked about Lin Xiao Feng. Or was that only her imagination?

“An Yi Ran.”

“Hmm?”

“Do you like your Little Uncle?”

The little boy hesitated again before he finally nodded. “I like him. Little Aunt, I am really happy that you are together with him.”

“What do you like about him?”

“Hmm…” An Yi Ran pondered over the question. “Little Uncle often stopped by our house and gave me a lot of snacks. Sometimes, he would accompany me to play outside.”

An Nuan could not hide her surprise. She suddenly recalled that day she ran into Lin Xiao Feng in her parents’ backyard.

Back then, she had returned home from F Country. When she walked into the backyard, An Nuan saw that Lin Xiao Feng was pushing the swing for her nephew.

She remembered her surprise as she had not seen Lin Xiao Feng for a long time. Lin Xiao Feng seemed very close to her nephew.

“Little Auntie.”

The little boy’s voice snapped An Nuan out of her thoughts. She turned to her nephew and saw him watching her.

“Little Uncle is a very good person.”

An Nuan smiled. She also knew that Lin Xiao Feng was a good person. Her thoughts went back to her conversation with Lin Xiao Feng’s mother earlier.

She had always considered her marriage with Lin Xiao Feng as a cooperative relationship. They were nothing more than partners.

To live with Lin Xiao Feng as a real husband and wife in the future… That is something that she had never considered or imagined.
