Chapter 44: I’m Married

A few days later, Lin Xiao Feng packed his bag to return to Capital City.

Just like he had told An Nuan, his friend, Feng An Yu came to pick him up from his parents’ house early in the morning.

Lin Xiao Feng opened the door and slipped into the passenger’s seat.

“Good morning,” Feng An Yu paused to give Lin Xiao Feng a look over. Then, the corner of his lips turned to a teasing smile. “Lin Xiao Feng, I haven’t seen you in a while but you are in a good mood. Is it because you are now a married man?”

Lin Xiao Feng suppressed the urge to roll his eyes. “Don’t talk nonsense. I’m always in a good mood.”

Feng An Yu scoffed. “Right. I have forgotten. Congratulations on your marriage. Seeing you and An Nuan become husband and wife is not something I thought I would see. I thought that both Yu Han and Ah Yuan were joking.”

If it was not for the photos that his friends had sent to her, Feng An Yu would not believe their words.

Among the brothers, who were not aware of Lin Xiao Feng’s feelings towards An Nuan.

Everyone had thought that Lin Xiao Feng would not pursue An Nuan. His wedding was indeed a shock to them.

“But… is it alright for you to leave for Capital City now?” Feng An Yu asked. “You’re a newlywed and you are leaving your wife like this?”

“I’ll be returning in a few days. There are still a lot of things for me to do.” Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “I heard that Su Ming Yuan is planning to compete with you. He said he would not be the last to get married.”

Feng An Yu clicked his tongue. “That young master planned to settle down? I thought he still wanted to play around a little more.”

Su Ming Yuan had provoked him a few times. However, Feng An Yu refused to pay attention to him. They knew that Su Ming Yuan was not planning to settle down.

Due to his divorced parents, Su Ming Yuan did not care much about being in a relationship.

“I think he might change,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “I heard that Ah Yuan is interested in someone. He followed Qi Zheng’s footsteps and attended a blind date.”

Feng An Yu scoffed. “So, that was it.”

“What?” Lin Xiao Feng raised a brow.

“Recently, my parents were enthusiastic about sending me to a blind date,” Feng An Yu confessed. “So it was because of Qi Zheng and Ah Yuan.”

“Are you feeling the pressure now?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

“About what?”

“Ah Yuan planned to compete with you,” Lin Xiao Feng reminded him.

“Young Master Su can end his singlehood. I won’t compete with him.” He held the steering wheel with one hand and heaved a long, heavy sigh. “Recently, I have been quite busy with some matters at the company. I am not that idle.”

Once they arrived at Capital City’s airport, Lin Xiao Feng invited Feng An Yu to stay at his place before they went their separate ways.

Lin Xiao Feng took the cab and headed to the office.

His office level was empty as Lin Xiao Feng arrived. He stepped into his office and heaved a heavy sigh when he saw the documents piling on his table.

Lin Xiao Feng was supposed to return to Capital City last week. However, he had to change his plan when he decided to marry An Nuan. Then later, he had to stay in bed to recover from his injury.

This was the first time in a long time that Lin Xiao Feng had taken a long break. Naturally, there would be a lot of work waiting for him.

Lin Xiao Feng took off his jacket and sat behind his desk to look at the documents on his table. He was so focused on his work that he had not noticed that a few of his employees had arrived.

It was not until someone pushed his door open that Lin Xiao Feng finally looked up.

His brow furrowed. It was obvious that Lin Xiao Feng was unhappy that someone had barged into his office without knocking on his door.

“Mr. Lin?”

Lin Xiao Feng raised his head and saw that it was his secretary, Shi Nian who stood at the door. Their gazes met and Lin Xiao Feng did not miss the surprise on Secretary Shi’s expression.

“You did not knock?” Lin Xiao Feng said.

“Sorry.” Secretary Shi released her hand from the doorknob. “Mr. Lin, I did not expect that you would be in the office.” She raised the documents in her hand. “I only came to put the documents into your room.”

Lin Xiao Feng leaned on his chair and rubbed the space between his brows. “Forget it. It was my fault. I did not remind you that I would be coming to the office today.”

Secretary Shi heaved a breath of relief when she saw that her boss was not angry.

“Come on in.” Lin Xiao Feng waved his hand at his secretary. His eyes were on the documents that Secretary Shi had shown him earlier. “What do you have for me?”

Taking a deep breath, Secretary Shi walked into the room and stopped in front of Lin Xiao Feng’s desk. She placed the documents on the table and started to summarise the contents of the documents.

Lin Xiao Feng invited his secretary to sit down while they discussed what happened in the office while he was away for two weeks. While he was away, Lin Xiao Feng let his secretary manage most of his work. Now that he had returned, Lin Xiao Feng needed to know what happened while he was away.

Secretary Shi stayed in Lin Xiao Feng’s office for almost two hours.

Lin Xiao Feng watched as his secretary walked to the door and suddenly recalled an important matter. “Secretary Shi.”

“Yes, Mr. Lin?” Secretary Shi turned around.

Lin Xiao Feng pulled out a card from his desk. “I need you to drop by this shop to pick up a few things.”

Secretary Shi picked up the card and raised an inquiring brow upon seeing the name on the shop. “A candy shop? Mr. Lin, why do you need me to stop by a candy shop?”

“Of course, it’s to pick up some candies for me.”

“What sort of candies?” Secretary Shi was puzzled as this was the first time she was given such a task.

“Wedding candy.”

“What?” Her eyes widened in surprise.

“I’m married.”
