Chapter 46: A Long-Distance Relationship

Lin Xiao Feng smiled as he handed the paper bag full of wedding candies to the mayor. “Mayor Jiang. This is for you.”

The man with the salt and pepper hair peeked into the paper bag. A trace of surprise appeared on his face when he saw what was inside the paper bag.

Mayor Jiang took out a box and shook it. The light in his eyes flickered as he looked at Lin Xiao Feng again. “You really got married?”

“That’s right.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “It was a couple of weeks ago.”

“Your grandfather did not say anything the last time we spoke,” Mayor Jiang complained.

Lin Xiao Feng merely smiled.

Of course, his grandfather would not be able to say anything to the mayor. After all, he notified his grandfather a few minutes before he watched An Nuan walk down the aisle.

“You weren’t in your office for two weeks because of this?” Mayor Jiang frowned as he recalled an important matter. “Will I be getting an invitation to your wedding banquet soon? No. I am considered one of your mentors. I should get an invitation, right?”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “Mayor Jiang. I will definitely send you an invitation once we decide on a date.”

The mayor was more at ease as he heard Lin Xiao Feng’s words. He opened the box, picked up a piece of candy, and popped it into his mouth. “Come to my house this weekend and bring your wife with you. I want to get to know the person who managed to make you decide to end your singlehood.”

“Mmm… Maybe next time. My wife is still in Y City.”

“You didn’t bring her with you?” Mayor Jiang looked surprised.

“My wife and I did not plan when we decided to marry,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “She still has a lot to handle on her end.”

“So, is it a long-distance relationship?”

“I hope this will be temporary.”

Mayor Jiang nodded.

“Mayor Jiang, I will go back to Y City in a few days to settle a few things,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “But don’t worry. I will finish my task before I go back.”

The old man considered Lin Xiao Feng’s words before nodding. “Come back quickly. There was a dinner event this Sunday and I was thinking of asking you to come with me.”

The light in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes flickered. He knew well that accompanying the Mayor to any social event would mean an opportunity for him to meet a lot more people.

In his work, it was important for Lin Xiao Feng to build more connections with people.

“They were going to discuss the land development in the south area,” Mayor Jiang said. “This time, I want you to participate in the meeting.”

Lin Xiao Feng stood up straight. “Mayor Jiang, thank you.”

Lin Xiao Feng spent a long time in the mayor’s office trying to catch up.

It took him a while before he finally came up with an excuse to leave.

Seeing that it was getting late, Lin Xiao Feng decided to leave earlier without stopping at his office again. Earlier that day, he had invited Feng An Yu to stay at his place. Lin Xiao Feng needed to head back early before his friend arrived.

As he slid into the car, Lin Xiao Feng gave his secretary a call to inform her that he wouldn’t be going back. Then, he headed back to his place and paid his fare.

An auntie greeted him at the door with a smile on her face. “Young Master Lin. You are back.” She glanced at the young man’s hand and asked, “You did not bring any luggage with you?”

“I left them at the office. It was too troublesome to bring it back. I’ll bring it back tomorrow.”

Lin Xiao Feng headed to the office straight from the airport. It was inconvenient for him to travel with his luggage when he did not have his car.

“Young Master, I already prepared dinner. Would you like to eat now?”

“No need. I’ll wait until my friend arrives and eat with him.” Lin Xiao Feng had called home in the morning and told the auntie that he would be coming home with a guest.

“Auntie Yu, did anything happen while I was away?” Lin Xiao Feng asked as he walked into the house.

“No. There’s nothing major.” Auntie Yu then reported what happened during the few days that Lin Xiao Feng was away.

“Auntie Yu, I’ll go and take my shower first,” Lin Xiao Feng said once he was done listening to the elder lady’s words. “Feng An Yu should be coming over soon. You can bring him to the guest room once he arrives.”

“Yes.” Auntie Yu nodded.

Lin Xiao Feng went to the second floor and headed to his bedroom.

It was a long day and he was too tired.

The first thing he wanted to do now that he had returned home was to take a long, hot shower.

Lin Xiao Feng stood under the shower. His mind was preoccupied with a lot of matters. Mostly, it was related to his work as well as his meeting with the mayor.

He came out of the bathroom with a towel around his waist and another one to dry his hair.

Lin Xiao Feng swept his eyes around the room and suddenly thought of his wife.

He wondered what An Nuan was up to.

There were a few times that he wanted to text An Nuan. However, Lin Xiao Feng was worried that An Nuan would be annoyed when he texted her without a reason.

In the end, his insecurity prevented him from contacting the person he liked.

Now that he stood in his room, Lin Xiao Feng recalled that he had asked An Nuan to come with him to Capital City.

The house he was living in now was suitable for him as a single man. However, he will have to change a lot of things in the house now that he is married.

An Nuan would need a room of her own.

Although he would prefer for them to stay in one room, he knew well that An Nuan would not agree to it. After all, their relationship was not like any other couple.

Lin Xiao Feng once again reminded himself to stay calm to win his wife’s heart.

It seemed that he would have a lot to prepare before An Nuan could come over.
