Chapter 47: Wallowing in Sadness

While Lin Xiao Feng was away for a few days, An Nuan was accompanying her parents at home.

Her breakup with Pei Zhi Yi was making her parents worried. Then, they had to deal with her decision to pick up just anyone to marry. She had given them a lot of headaches. Nowadays, An Nuan usually stays home to assure her parents that she is alright.

An Nuan could see that her parents were not so worried that she decided to marry Lin Xiao Feng.

Her parents were worried that she might do something regretful after Pei Zhi Yi had left her on their wedding day.

But her parents might not be wrong.

She might appear as if she no longer cared about Pei Zhi Yi. However, that man would appear in her mind once in a while even if she did not want him to appear.

An Nuan has been in a relationship with Pei Zhi Yi for years. She had spent most of her youth being with him. She loved him and thought that they were going to stay together until they both turned old.

She had imagined living with him and having a few children to accompany them.

How can forgetting that man be easy?

She no longer wanted to cry because of him.

An Nuan knew that she should not think of the man who did not really have her in his heart.

She would never be the priority being with Pei Zhi Yi. She would only hurt if she was to stay with him.

An Nuan tried very hard to forget that man.

However, each time Pei Zhi Yi appeared in her mind, An Nuan could not stop her tears from falling. Her heart hurt so much and she did not know how to remove that pain. It felt as if her heart was stabbed by a sharp knife over and over again.

Then, she would stay in her room and cry silently.

Ren Di told her that time would heal.

Whether it would be for a short time or a long time would depend on her alone.

Her friend also told her that she would have to do something to keep her mind off Pei Zhi Yi.

An Nuan had decided to focus on her career to keep herself busy.

A while ago, An Nuan told Lin Xiao Feng that she planned to continue working as a jeweler. These days, An Nuan has been busy studying the trends in the country.

She was still undecided whether she wanted to work on her own or find someone who could hire her.

An Nuan sat behind her desk while looking at the drawing she made after she returned from her vacation. She had produced a few drawings but was not satisfied with any of them.

It seemed that her heart was not really into it.

An Nuan knew that she would be scolded if she was to show the drawings to her mentor.

After staring at the drawings for a long time, An Nuan finally threw the drawings back on the table and walked over to her bed.

She planned to take a nap to clear her mind when her phone on the bedside table rang. She rolled around the bed until she finally reached her phone.

The light in her eyes lit up when she saw Ren Di’s name on her phone.

An Nuan picked up the phone call without haste and turned on the loudspeaker.

“Nuan Nuan, what are you up to?” Ren Di asked the moment the phone call was connected.

“Me? I’m wallowing in sadness.” An Nuan threw her phone on the mattress as she continued to roll around the bed. After looking at the unsatisfactory drawing, An Nuan only wanted to laze around.

“Are you thinking about that scumbag again?” There was a trace of unhappiness in Ren Di’s voice.

“No.” An Nuan sat up quickly when she realized that Ren Di had misunderstood. “I was not thinking about him. I was trying to work on a few designs but everything looks terrible.”

Ren Di heaved a sigh. She understood that An Nuan was forcing herself to work when she did not really have the heart to do anything.

“How about this…” Ren Di spoke after a brief silence between them. “Nuan Nuan, why don’t we go out for a walk? I think you might need a bit of fresh air. Who knows? Maybe you will get some inspiration?”

An Nuan pursed her lips. She was too lazy to step out of the house.

“Come on.” Ren Di continued to coax her friend. “I heard that Coffee Sanctuary came up with a new line of desserts. It’s the one that they collaborated with Chef Qin Zhan. Nuan Nuan, accompany me to try them, alright?”

An Nuan pondered over Ren Di’s invitation. “Alright.” In the end, she agreed.

She was reluctant to go out. But then, An Nuan did not want to let her friends and family worry about her. It would be better for her to go out and enjoy herself more. Perhaps it will help her to forget certain unhappy memories.

“Then, I’ll come over to your place in an hour,” Ren Di said. “An Nuan, you better be ready. Or else, I’ll drag you to shop with me.”

Once the phone call ended, An Nuan sat on the mattress and stared at the ceiling for a while. Then, she forced herself to get up and get ready to meet her friend.

Her body trembled as she thought of going shopping with her friend. Ren Di had a habit of walking all around the mall before she could finally decide on what she wanted to buy.

When Ren Di showed up at her place, An Nuan was already dressed in a simple blouse and a pair of jeans. She wore light makeup on her face so that she wouldn’t look too pale and scare everyone else.

Ren Di was chatting with Mrs. An when An Nuan walked down the stairs. She gave her friend a look over and smiled. “Nuan Nuan, you look good today.”
