Chapter 48: Someone Block Her Path

An Nuan buckled her seatbelt as the engine began to roar.

It did not take them a long time before Ren Di entered the main road and headed to the city center.

An Nuan glanced at her friend who was singing at the top of her lungs. Seeing that Ren Di was in a good mood made An Nuan laugh. The uneasy feeling she had earlier quickly disappeared. Perhaps, Ren Di’s good mood was contagious.

“What did you and my mother talk about earlier?” An Nuan asked once Ren Di had finished one song.

“Hmm?” Ren Di glanced at her friend. “Your mom… she was saying that it was a good thing that I came to drag you out. It seems that you have been locking yourself in your room for the past few days.” Her brow furrowed. “Nuan Nuan, are you alright?”

An Nuan heaved a long sigh. “I’m fine.”

“Really?” Ren Di glanced at her friend a few more times. She wanted to inspect An Nuan’s expression. However, Ren Di was behind the wheel and had to focus on the road.

“I don’t think that I can face my family,” An Nuan said. “Each time I look at them, they would be looking at me with a hint of worry. It was too much for me. I stayed at home so that they would stop worrying about me. But at the same time, their worry was making me uncomfortable. Ren Di, do you understand what I mean?”

Ren Di nodded.

“Therefore…” An Nuan looked up straight again. “These days, I have been trying to do some sketches, hoping to get my mind off some matters while avoiding my family at the same time.” She raised both hands to stretch up. “But it seems that I cannot continue to work in this condition.”

Ren Di smiled. “Aren’t you glad that I am taking you out?”

An Nuan shot a grateful look at her friend.

After driving for a while, Ren Di finally entered the Mall’s parking area.

The two friends walked around for a while before they stopped by the cafe that Ren Di had mentioned earlier. When they arrived, there was already a long queue.

Unexpectedly, everyone was coming to the cafe wanting to taste the new line of dessert that came out a few days ago.

Ren Di was determined to line up. She came to the cafe to try the desserts. Of course, she could not go back without getting what she came for.

Seeing that it would be a while before their turn, An Nuan decided to head to the bathroom first.

“I’ll come with you,” Ren Di offered.

“Don’t be silly. You came here to try the desserts. We are already halfway in line. If we leave now, we might not be able to purchase the dessert you want,” An Nuan laughed as she poked Ren Di on the arm. “What are you worried about? I am not a child.”

Ren Di pursed her lips as she gave An Nuan a look over. “I promised your mother that I will keep an eye on you all the time.”

An Nuan rolled her eyes. “I’ll be back shortly. If I don’t come back after you get your dessert, you can head over to the Mall’s security and make an announcement.”

Ren Di laughed. “Alright then. Go ahead. Don’t take too long and call me if anything happens.”

An Nuan scoffed. “You nagged too much.” She turned around to look for the restroom.

Fortunately, the restroom was not too far away from the cafe that Ren Di was queuing at.

An Nuan finished her business quickly and came out again.

Seeing that there was still time, An Nuan decided to stroll leisurely while heading to the cafe.

She noticed a jewelry store up front and decided to take a look through the glass window.

If Ren Di came out of the cafe and looked for her, she would definitely spot her in front of the store.

Recently, An Nuan was having a problem while sketching her design. She figured that looking at the jewelry at the store would help her to get some inspiration.

An Nuan was too focused on the jewelry in front of her and failed to notice that someone was watching her from afar.

After looking around for a while, An Nuan finally decided that she had looked enough. She was about to turn around and look for Ren Di again when someone blocked her path.

The pair of high heels in front of her made her frown.

An Nuan could not hide her displeasure when she realized that the person who was blocking her path was no other than Sun Jiao.

Years ago, Pei Zhi Yi’s parents adopted Sun Jiao into their family.

Pei Zhi Yi had always said that he considered Sun Jiao as his younger sister. However, Sun Jiao had never looked at Pei Zhi Yi the same way.

On her wedding day, Pei Zhi Yi left her alone to look for Sun Jiao.

As usual, Sun Jiao had pulled some tricks and pretended to be weak just to have Pei Zhi Yi by her side.

An Nuan just did not think that Pei Zhi Yi would still leave on their wedding day.

This woman had always appeared kind and demure when Pei Zhi Yi was around. However, the moment Pei Zhi Yi left, Sun Jiao’s expression would change.

An Nuan knew from a long time ago that Sun Jiao did not like her.

However, for Pei Zhi Yi’s sake, An Nuan chose to bear Sun Jiao’s attitude.

“An Nuan, I did not expect to run into you here,” Sun Jiao said. She put on the usual sweet smile on her face.

An Nuan retracted her gaze. She was not in the mood to speak with Sun Jiao at this moment. Now that she was no longer in a relationship with Pei Zhi Yi, An Nuan did not see a reason she should entertain Sun Jiao.

With that thought in mind, An Nuan stepped away, wanting to pretend as if she had not noticed Sun Jiao in front of her. However, it did not seem as if Sun Jiao would let her go.

“Where are you going?” Sun Jiao asked as she continued to block An Nuan’s path. “We haven’t met for a long time. Don’t you think that we should sit down and catch up?”
