Chapter 49: You Deserve that Slap

The smile on Sun Jiao’s face did not falter even though An Nuan was ignoring her. When she first saw An Nuan standing alone in front of the store, Sun Jiao knew that she should take the chance to pester her.

These past few days, Pei Zhi Yi has been ignoring her because of An Nuan. Of course, she was not going to let An Nuan go that easily.

Since she was not in a good mood, An Nuan could not be happy as well.

“An Nuan, don’t you know that Brother Zhi Yi has been searching for you these past few days?” Sun Jiao continued to trail after An Nuan when she saw her turning in another direction. “How about this? I’ll call Brother Zhi Yi and tell him that I have found you. Then, we can sit together and talk.”

An Nuan stopped on her track when Sun Jiao blocked her path again.

Her teeth clenched when she saw the woman stubbornly pestering her when she was clearly not in the mood to argue.

“Sun Jiao, what do you want from me?” An Nuan barked.

Instantly, Sun Jiao put on a pitiful look on her face.

The woman’s reaction made An Nuan’s blood boil. She hated it each time Sun Jiao pulled that pitiful look.

“I have already separated from Pei Zhi Yi,” An Nuan continued. “You should be happy right? He left me on my wedding day to look for you. Since you like him that much, why don’t you go and be with him? Stop pestering me, alright?”

“Don’t say it like that. An Nuan, you know that Brother Zhi Yi only has you in his heart.” Sun Jiao took out her phone, showing An Nuan that she was serious about calling Pei Zhi Yi. “I’m sure that there is a misunderstanding going on between us. An Nuan, I’ll call Brother Zhi Yi and explain everything, alright?”

“Stop that. Sun Jiao, I want nothing to do with you or Pei Zhi Yi.” An Nuan turned around again, wanting to leave.

A small crowd started to build around them.

Those people were busybodies who enjoyed watching some dramas.

The situation was making An Nuan uncomfortable. She did not like being at the center of attention like this.

Her heart was beating fast and her instinct was telling her that she should leave now before she would lose it.

“An Nuan.” Sun Jiao stretched her hand to grab An Nuan’s hand and stop her from leaving. “Are you still angry? I’m sorry. It was my fault, alright? That day, I was feeling unwell. Brother Zhi Yi–”

The words that Sun Jiao wanted to say remained unfinished when An Nuan raised her hand to slap her in the face.

Sun Jiao was stunned. She was not expecting that An Nuan would make such a move.

She knew that An Nuan did not like it when people were watching them. Therefore, Sun Jiao thought that An Nuan would bear all the grievances as usual and let her do and say whatever she wanted.

“Sun Jiao, I can tolerate you when you call Pei Zhi Yi to your side while we are on our date,” An Nuan said. “But calling him on our wedding day is too much. You made him leave me on our wedding day.”

“An Nuan!” Sun Jiao shouted angrily. She was not paying attention to An Nuan’s words. Right now, she was furious that An Nuan had slapped her in public.

Her cheek throbbed in pain.

Sun Jiao was worried that the slap would leave a mark on her face.

“Listen up, woman.” An Nuan pointed a finger at Sun Jiao. “I have been tolerating your attitude because of Pei Zhi Yi in the past. But not anymore. Now that I no longer have any relationship with Pei Zhi Yi, I won’t hold back.” Her gaze fell on the cheek that Sun Jiao was trying to hide. “I already gave you a chance. But you keep pestering me. You deserved that slap.”

Her body felt lighter.

An Nuan did not expect that slapping Sun Jiao would give her so much satisfaction.

She gave Sun Jiao a lookover and thought that the pitiful look on Sun Jiao’s face this time was quite good to look at.

With a satisfactory smile on her face, An Nuan turned around to leave.

But then, how could Sun Jiao let An Nuan leave that easily, especially after she was the one who had to bear the pain.

Taking a deep breath, Sun Jiao chased after An Nuan again. She grabbed An Nuan’s shoulder and gave it a hard tug, forcing An Nuan to turn around and look at her.

While An Nuan was still in a daze, Sun Jiao raised her hand, wanting to return the slap that she had received earlier.

The smile on her face turned to a smug one when Sun Jiao saw the hint of fear in An Nuan’s eyes.

Her palm was about to touch An Nuan’s face when someone grabbed her hand.

Sun Jiao was stunned at the sudden change.

Before she could figure out what was going on, that person threw her hand away, making her stagger a few steps back.

Her steps were unsteady as Sun Jiao was wearing high heels.

“Ah!” Sun Jiao yelped in pain when her ankle sprained. She steadied herself and looked up in anger. Sun Jiao was not happy that someone was trying to meddle in her business and cause her to lose her face.

However, the anger on her face quickly disappeared when she saw a handsome man standing beside An Nuan.

“I don’t usually care when two girls fight. But Miss, I don’t think it’s right to sneak an attack.” The man flashed a smile that did not reach his eyes.

Sun Jiao shuddered in fear.

Although that man was smiling at her, Sun Jiao could detect the hint of danger in his eyes.

Her instinct was telling her to run. But her legs refused to move and she could not look away from the man’s dangerous gaze.

“Su Ming Yuan?”

An Nuan’s voice made the man turn around.

The hint of malice in the man’s eyes quickly disappeared and was replaced with something else.

“An Nuan.” Su Ming Yuan chuckled. “So, it’s you.”
