Chapter 53: A Nuan Ran Off

Lin Xiao Feng seemed to be deep in thought after his conversation with An Nuan. He sat behind his desk for a long time before reaching for his phone again.

First, Lin Xiao Feng made a phone call to his secretary to discuss a few work matters. Then, he texted his friend, Wei Jun Hao to ask him to investigate An Nuan’s matter.

Previously, Lin Xiao Feng only knew a little bit about An Nuan’s ex. It wasn’t that he was not curious. Lin Xiao Feng wanted to ask but was afraid that An Nuan or her family members would be unhappy. Moreover, he did not think that An Nuan was willing to tell him the truth.

A few days later, An Nuan woke up in the morning only to find that the atmosphere in the dining area was quite lively. As she descended the stairs, An Nuan could hear the chattering voices. Her nephew’s voice sounded lively, making her curious about what was going on.

An Nuan was still dressed up in her lounging attire. She was at home and did not think that it was improper to dress up leisurely. After all, everyone in the house was her family member. They had seen her in various conditions.

She got up, washed her face, and brushed her teeth before going downstairs to find something to eat.

What she did not expect was to see Lin Xiao Feng sitting around the table with the rest of her family members. Her nephew, An Yi Ran was telling Lin Xiao Feng something that happened at his playschool while the man was listening attentively.

An Nuan stood rooted to the ground. Her eyes were on Lin Xiao Feng’s smiling face.

She knew that he was going to return to Y City today. However, she did not expect to see him first thing in the morning.

Why was he here?

“Nuan Nuan?”

Her sister-in-law’s voice snapped An Nuan out of her trance. Then, An Nuan watched as everyone’s eyes fell on her.

“What are you doing standing around? Come over here and sit down.” Her mother waved a hand at her, motioning her to come over.

An Nuan was about to take a step forward when she noticed the clothes she was wearing.

She looked up again and met Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes.

An Nuan inhaled a sharp breath. Without saying anything, she turned around and ran off to her room, leaving the rest of her family in confusion.

“What’s wrong with Little Auntie?” An Yi Ran asked. His gaze was on Lin Xiao Feng.

“I’m not sure.”” Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips.

His wife ran away as soon as she saw him. Lin Xiao Feng wondered if there was something else with himself.

An Nuan’s mother, Shi Xi was about to stand up to check on her daughter when her gaze fell on her son-in-law.

She thought about the couple’s relationship and the words that Lin Xiao Feng had told her and her husband on the couple’s wedding day.

Everyone was aware of Lin Xiao Feng’s feelings towards An Nuan. The only one who did not know anything about it was An Nuan herself. Lin Xiao Feng did not let them tell An Nuan anything.

According to him, An Nuan was heartbroken when Pei Zhi Yi left her.

It might take her a while to recover from her heartbreak.

Lin Xiao Feng wanted to wait before he would pursue her.

Shi Xi did not know what Lin Xiao Feng was planning to do.

Her eyes fell on Lin Xiao Feng again. She wondered what would happen if they were to give the couple some push.

Shi Xi merely wanted her daughter to move on quickly. It was not as if she had not noticed that her daughter would spend her time in her room and cry alone.

It would be better if An Nuan moved on from her ex quickly.

“Xiao Feng,” Shi Xi called as she turned to the young man. “Why don’t you go and check on Nuan Nuan?”

Lin Xiao Feng was about to drink his cup of coffee when he heard his mother-in-law talking to him. He looked at her with a surprised look on his face. He took his time to calm down and cleared his throat. “Isn’t that inappropriate?”

An Jian was about to argue with his mother when he heard Lin Xiao Feng’s words. He sat back on his chair with a smile, happy that Lin Xiao Feng at least knew that it was inappropriate.

“What’s inappropriate?” Shi Xi smiled. “You and Nuan Nuan are already husband and wife. I know that you wanted to give Nuan Nuan some space. But Mom thinks it is important for you to take your chance as well.”

Lin Xiao Feng considered Shi Xi’s words. He does want to speak to An Nuan but is worried that she might run off again.

The others heard Shi Xi’s words and felt that she was right. Even if they wanted to argue, they didn’t feel like it was the right time.

“Auntie Xia, go ahead and lead Xiao Feng to An Nuan’s room,” Shi Xi spoke to the auntie who was standing behind her. “I don’t think that he knew where Nuan Nuan’s room was.”

The elderly woman then turned to look at Lin Xiao Feng and smiled. “Young Master, please come with me.”

Lin Xiao Feng was still hesitating when An Yi Ran held his hand. “Little Uncle, I will come with you.” The little boy felt that it would be fun to follow his little Uncle. After all, this man often accompanied him to play. His grip on Lin Xiao Feng’s hand became tighter. “Little Uncle, I also know where Little Auntie’s room is.”
