Chapter 54: Little Uncle is Here Too

With a dazed look on his face, Lin Xiao Feng followed An Yi Ran upstairs.

He glanced at the little boy who was holding his hand and wondered if it would be too late to turn around and leave now. Although Lin Xiao Feng was happy to see An Ran, he did not want to upset her.

He did not know how An Ran would feel to see him coming to her room.

Would she think that he had a bad intention?

“Little Uncle, we are here.”

The announcement made Lin Xiao Feng look up to see the door in front of him was closed tightly. His heartbeat accelerated when he realized that An Nuan’s room was right behind this door.

Lin Xiao Feng inhaled a few deep breaths.

He was still fighting himself, deciding whether it was really good for him to come upstairs to find An Nuan. Before he could compose his thoughts, An Yi Ran raised his hand and knocked on the door.

Lin Xiao Feng was startled.

He was not ready yet!

“Who is it?” An Nuan’s voice was heard coming from behind the door.

“Little Aunt, it’s me,” An Yi Ran announced.

An Nuan was about to walk over and open the door when she heard the little boy’s next words.

“Little Uncle is here too.”

The hand that had almost touched the doorknob hovered in the air. An Nuan’s eyes widened in surprise, wondering why her nephew brought Lin Xiao Feng over.

Her mind was in a mess.

An Nuan swept her gaze around the room before reminding herself that she had changed her clothes and probably did not look as bad as she had earlier.

She turned around to check herself in the mirror. Then, she turned to the door and opened it slowly.

“Little Aunt, what are you doing?” An Yi Ran asked when he saw his aunt’s head through the small gap in the door. His head tilted to one side. Then, a thought came to his mind, “Are you playing hide and seek?”

An Nuan’s gaze fell on Lin Xiao Feng. Their gazes met momentarily before An Nuan coughed. “Lin Xiao Feng, why are you here?”

“Your family members were worried about you,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “Your mother sent me upstairs to check on you.”

“Little Aunt, why did you run off suddenly?” An Yi Ran asked.

A faint blush appeared on An Nuan’s face. Fortunately, the door was open to a small gap. Lin Xiao Feng and her nephew probably would not be able to see her reddened face.

“Are you okay?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

An Nuan saw the worry on Lin Xiao Feng’s face. She recalled how she had run off from the dining room earlier and thought that her action could make others worry. After all, she had run off without an explanation.

“I’m fine.” An Nuan opened the door wider, allowing Lin Xiao Feng and An Yi Ran to look at her. “It’s just that, I did not expect to see you in the dining room. I was still dressed in my loungewear. I thought that it was not appropriate.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s expression softened when he heard An Nuan’s reason.

At least, he knew now that it was not because An Nuan did not want to see him.

The two of them stared at each other.

An Nuan thought that the situation right now was too awkward, especially with her nephew observing them.

“Why are you here so early?” An Nuan asked. “I know that you are coming back to Y City today. But I did not expect that you would show up at my house early in the morning.”

“I took the first flight from Capital City,” Lin Xiao Feng explained. He turned to An Yi Ran and patted him on the head. “When the taxi pulled over, your nephew saw me and called me over.”

He was going to return to his house when he saw An Yi Ran. Their relationship has always been good. Lin Xiao Feng went to An Yi Ran’s side to chat with him.

“Then, your mother saw me and invited me for breakfast,” Lin Xiao Feng continued. “I could not refuse.”

An Nuan nodded, fully understanding why Lin Xiao Feng appeared this early at her house.

“Did I make you uncomfortable?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

If An Nuan did not like it, he would try not to show up at her house too early in the morning.

“No.” An Nuan shook her head immediately. “It’s alright. It was just unexpected. That’s all.”

If someone had warned her that Lin Xiao Feng was coming, she wouldn’t be so surprised.

Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips as he continued to observe the person in front of him.

He might be biased but Lin Xiao Feng felt that An Nuan looked quite pretty even in her casual dress and her bare face.

“An Nuan,” Lin Xiao Feng spoke again. “Coincidentally, I have something to discuss with you.”

“What is it?”

“My grandfather said, our two families should meet up for a meal,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “Though we are married now, there are a lot of things that should be taken care of. Last time, my grandfather came to meet your elders without us both around. This time, we should have a small gathering between the two families. Nothing formal.”

An Nuan pondered over Lin Xiao Feng’s words.

Her wedding with Lin Xiao Feng was unplanned. When they both stood in front of the wedding officiant, only her family members were present.

It was understandable if Lin Xiao Feng’s elders wanted the two families to meet.

They were now families.

They should get to know each other well.

“Alright.” An Nuan nodded. “I have no objection.”

“There is another matter that I need to discuss with you,” Lin Xiao Feng said.

An Nuan met Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze and felt that he might have a few things to say.

After a brief hesitation, An Nuan moved to the side, no longer blocking her door. “Would you like to come in and talk?”
