Chapter 60: Family Dinner

In the evening, An Nuan put on a nice dress and light makeup to go out for dinner between her and Lin Xiao Feng’s family.

As she was looking at a few accessories that she could match with her dress, An Nuan’s eyes fell on the ring on her finger.

Her eyes flickered as the scene where Lin Xiao Feng slid the ring to her finger appeared in her mind. Back then, An Nuan was surprised that Lin Xiao Feng had prepared the ring when she had neglected to prepare one.

Later, An Nuan found out that it belonged to his mother and she would like her to have it. It was considered as a token from her mother-in-law to her.

An Nuan stared at the ring for a long time as her mother-in-law’s words and her sister-in-law’s words echoed in her mind.

Being with Lin Xiao Feng in a cooperative relationship was good enough. She would help Lin Xiao Feng with whatever he needed while he would protect her from Pei Zhi Yi. An Nuan really thought that the two of them could live harmoniously like that.

Therefore, hearing her sister-in-law’s words earlier was making her confused.

The knocking on the door snapped An Nuan out of her trance.

She opened the door and saw her nephew, reminding her that it was time for them to go out.

Initially, An Nuan wanted to leave for the restaurant with her family.

However, her parents urged her to head over to the restaurant with Lin Xiao Feng. Now that they are a married couple, it is appropriate for them to go together.

An Nuan was a bit reluctant to stay with Lin Xiao Feng, especially after her talk with her sister-in-law. But then, she did not want to let her parents worry about her and decided to agree.

The journey to the restaurant was silent.

An Nuan looked out the window while Lin Xiao Feng sat behind the wheels.

Halfway to the restaurant, Lin Xiao Feng finally turned to An Nuan again and asked, “An Nuan, are you alright?”

His question made An Nuan turn to look at Lin Xiao Feng. Noticing his concern, An Nuan flashed an easygoing smile. “I’m fine. Perhaps, I was just a bit tired after walking around in the morning.”

The frown on Lin Xiao Feng’s face gradually disappeared. “I think, this dinner won’t be too long with the elders around,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “You can go back early if you want.”

An Nuan smiled but did not say anything.

Lin Xiao Feng continued to focus on his driving while hesitating about something else. He wondered if An Nuan was not in a good mood because of her ex again.

On their way home from shopping, they both noticed that Pei Zhi Yi was waiting outside the entrance to their residential area.

Lin Xiao Feng understood that it would be difficult for An Nuan to forget someone she had a relationship with for years.

An Nuan had assured him that she was not going to meet Pei Zhi Yi as the two had nothing to talk about. But then, Lin Xiao Feng wondered if An Nuan was really not curious to know what her ex wanted to say to her.

After all, Pei Zhi Yi has been quite persistent in finding An Nuan.

Lin Xiao Feng had asked his friends to make trouble for Pei Zhi Yi at his company. However, this man could still find time to stay around the guardhouse for An Nuan.

His lips pursed into a thin line. After a brief consideration, Lin Xiao Feng spoke again, “An Nuan, if you are too tired, we can postpone the meeting with my friends to another day. You can rest tomorrow.”

An Nuan was surprised to hear Lin Xiao Feng’s suggestion. She quickly composed her thoughts and continued, “No. It’s alright. We have made an appointment to meet them. I don’t feel right to postpone the meeting.” An Nuan inhaled a deep breath to clear her mind. “I’ll be fine after a long night’s sleep later.”

Lin Xiao Feng glanced at An Nuan a few times before deciding not to mention it again.

The couple soon reached the restaurant.

Lin Xiao Feng and An Nuan were the last to arrive at the restaurant.

As they walked into the private room, the elders were chatting happily about this and that.

The room turned quieter when they noticed the couple’s arrival.

“Xiao Feng, An Nuan, you are here.” Lin Chuan acknowledged them. “Take a seat.”

Lin Xiao Feng and An Nuan greeted the elders before they finally took their seats.

“This place looked quite good,” Shi Xi said. “The room is spacious and the menu looks quite interesting. I did not know that there is a good restaurant around this area.”

Shi Xi knew that it was her son-in-law who booked the restaurant. Therefore, she wanted to praise him for a bit.

Lin Xiao Feng had a polite smile on his face. “It was Zhang Yu Han who recommended this place to me. Last time, he came over with his family and grandfather. He mentioned that his grandfather liked this place a lot.”

Zhang Yu Han’s grandfather was a foodie and liked to visit a lot of restaurants for a good meal.

As a filial grandson, Zhang Yu Han often entertained his grandfather by taking him to visit a lot of places.

“Zhang Jing liked this restaurant,” Lin Chuan said as he looked at An Nuan’s grandfather. “I think we can expect to eat good meat dishes.”

Everyone in the circle knew that Zhang Yu Han’s grandfather, Zhang Jing, was a fan of meat dishes. His favorite was barbecued meat.

“Grandfather.” Lin Xiao Feng smiled mysteriously. “Although this restaurant does have a few meat dishes, their specialty is vegetarian dishes.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “These days, they were teaching the little princess not to be picky. Yu Han’s daughter was close to her great-grandfather. Their taste in food was very similar. Grandfather Zhang had to show his great-granddaughter a good example.”

The elders started to laugh.

The thought of Zhang Jing eating vegetables with a displeased look in his eyes appeared in their mind.
