Chapter 62: An Jian’s Worry

While everyone was chatting happily, Lin Xiao Feng noticed that the phone in his pocket let out a faint vibration. Seeing that it was a phone call from work, Lin Xiao Feng turned to An Nuan briefly before sneaking out.

He went to a quiet corner to answer his phone.

The phone call lasted for a few minutes as there were a lot of things to discuss.

Finally, the phone call ended.

When he was about to turn around again and return to the private room, Lin Xiao Feng noticed that his brother-in-law, An Jian, was standing a distance away, watching him. From his posture, Lin Xiao Feng could tell that the man was waiting for his phone call to end.

Their gazes met briefly before An Jian walked over.

Lin Xiao Feng stood up straight as he waited for his brother-in-law to approach him. He guessed that An Jian probably had something to talk to him about.

“Work call?” An Jian asked.

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “There’s a project that I have to oversee.”

The two men stood at the corner in a brief silence. An Jian leaned on the wall behind him and spoke.”I haven’t thanked you yet for introducing me to a few of your friends.” He met Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes again and flashed a faint smile. “A few days ago, we finally finalized the discussion to cooperate.”

“That’s good. Elder Brother, if you need any help again, you can come over and look for me,” Lin Xiao Feng said. “I will try to do whatever I can.”

“Won’t this trouble you?” An Jian’s tone of voice was light. “I wouldn’t want you to be accused of using your power to help us.”

“That won’t happen.” Lin Xiao Feng chuckled. “I may be in politics but a few of my friends are in business. Asking them to introduce a few people isn’t considered a trouble for them.”

“Hmm…”An Jian guessed that Lin Xiao Feng was talking about his good friends.

They have been together for years and each one of them was excellent in their own path.

A faint sigh escaped An Jian’s lips as he thought of the reason he had to ask Lin Xiao Feng for help.

Initially, because of An Nuan’s relationship with Pei Zhi Yi, their two companies decided to cooperate together. Now that An Nuan decided to break it off with Pei Zhi Yi, An Jian, and his father decided that they should no longer work with Pei Group.

Finding another company that wanted to cooperate with them was not that easy because of time constraints. Fortunately, Lin Xiao Feng had introduced his friends to another company.

These days, not only Pei Zhi Yi was pestering their family, hoping that he could see An Nuan. Pei Zhi Yi’s father had also come to their company to look for An Jian and his father, wanting to discuss their cooperation.

However, the An family was determined not to budge.

An Jian let out a cough before looking at Lin Xiao Feng again. “You and my sister… Are you really going to have another wedding?”

“Mhm…” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “This time, I will bear the cost.”

“I don’t mind spending some money for Nuan Nuan.” An Jian frowned.

Lin Xiao Feng remained silent. He knew that An Nuan had a good relationship with her elder brother. An Jian has been looking after An Nuan from a young age.

A long, heavy sigh escaped An Jian’s lips. “I still don’t understand why you are willing to go through this marriage. Nuan Nuan clearly has no other intention other than to have a cooperative marriage with you. Lin Xiao Feng… being with someone who doesn’t love you back is going to hurt you.”

An Jian was against his younger sister’s marriage to Lin Xiao Feng from the beginning.

But then, Lin Xiao Feng convinced his parents that he would look after An Nuan well.

An Jian then watched as Lin Xiao Feng looked after their family and An Nuan silently. He knew that Lin Xiao Feng was a good person. His younger sister was lucky that she had Lin Xiao Feng by her side instead of someone else.

But this only made An Jian worry.

He wanted An Nuan to be happy. At the same time, he was worried that Lin Xiao Feng would suffer.

How many years can he stay by An Nuan’s side without having his feelings reciprocated? Sooner or later, Lin Xiao Feng was going to be exhausted. The couple will suffer and end up resenting each other.

This was something that An Jian did not want to see.

“It doesn’t matter,” Lin Xiao Feng answered. “Brother-in-law, you don’t have to worry about me. I will work hard to win An Nuan’s heart. Even if it does not work, I won’t ever regret the choice I made that day.”

Back then, all he knew was that, could not watch An Nuan marry another person.

Finally, they both decided to return to the private room before their family members would worry.

An Nuan could not hide her surprise when she saw her elder brother and Lin Xiao Feng walking into the room together.

A thought came to her mind, making her stare at An Jian for a brief seconds longer.

“Is everything alright?” An Nuan asked when Lin Xiao Feng returned to her side. “My elder brother… He did not say anything unnecessary, right?”

Lin Xiao Feng’s lips curled to a faint smile when he realized what An Nuan was worried about. “No. He came out only to thank me for introducing a few partners to the company. Recently, the company was having a hard time finding a perfect partner that they could work with.”

Of course, Lin Xiao Feng did not plan to mention anything regarding Pei Group.

From what An Jian told him, it seemed that An Nuan knew nothing about their family’s business.

“Really?” An Nuan was not convinced.

“Mhm…” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “Don’t think too much. We don’t talk about anything else other than business matters.”
