Chapter 69: Qi Zheng’s Teasings

“What do you think?” Yun Shu asked as she turned to look at An Nuan. “Isn’t that exciting?”

An Nuan smiled. “Mmm… I didn’t think that they would be playing so seriously.”

“They have to play seriously.” Zhang Yu Ying heaved a sigh. “Otherwise, my elder brother would be unhappy. You know that he was always serious about playing basketball.”

An Nuan laughed. She had heard rumors that Zhang Yu Han could be quite strict when they were playing basketball. He was stricter than their coach.

A few members of the club dropped off because they could not stand him. But a lot more stayed because they adored his skills. Of course, most of those people who adored him were their juniors.

As An Nuan raised her head again, she happened to see Li Qin Yao walking over with a basket of towels.

“That’s right.” Zhang Yu Ying turned towards the table to grab a few bottles of drinking water.

Seeing that she was struggling to carry them all, An Nuan and Yun Shu went over to help her.

“Help me pass around the bottle,” Zhang Yu Ying said before walking over to her husband. She stopped in front of Wei Jun Hao before passing another bottle of drinking water to Feng An Yu. She then turned to her husband again to help wipe the sweat off his face.

Zhang Yu Ying did not stay for too long. After saying a few words to Wei Jun Hao, she turned to look at her children again.

An Nuan stood at the side as she watched Lin Xiao Feng and Su Ming Yuan chatting. She held the bottles of drinking water in her hand a little tighter.

An Nuan knew that she was supposed to pass the bottle to Lin Xiao Feng but she felt a bit awkward.

“An Nuan.” It was Su Ming Yuan who spoke first.

He saw An Nuan walking over from the corner of his eyes and guessed that she had come over to give Lin Xiao Feng some water. However, once she approached closer, An Nuan suddenly stopped on her track.

The corner of Su Ming Yuan’s lips tilted to a smile. She walked over to An Nuan before grabbing one bottle from her hand. “Thank you. I really need this.”

Without waiting for her to answer, Su Ming Yuan unscrewed the cap and drank half of the bottle.

An Nuan stared at him speechlessly.

She raised her head again and saw that Lin Xiao Feng was watching her.

“That…” An Nuan cleared her throat. “This is for you.” She handed the other bottle of water to Lin Xiao Feng.

“Thank you.” Lin Xiao Feng flashed a smile.

An Nuan watched as Lin Xiao Feng unscrewed the cap and drank slowly. His move was elegant as compared to Su Ming Yuan.

A brief seconds later, An Nuan retracted her gaze from Lin Xiao Feng and planned to head back to the girls.

“Are you okay?”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice made An Nuan pause. She looked at him again and watched as he wiped the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand.

Her gaze fell on the sweat trickling down Lin Xiao Feng’s cheek from his forehead.

An Nuan had the urge to lean forward and wipe that sweat away from Lin Xiao Feng’s face. However, she held back, knowing that her action would lead them both to an awkward situation.

She quickly retracted her gaze away from Lin Xiao Feng.

“Are you enjoying yourself here?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

An Nuan met Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes and saw the hint of worry in his eyes.

She wondered if he was worried that she was not able to blend in with the girls. Then, An Nuan remembered Lin Xiao Feng telling her that she should tell him if she was uncomfortable.

“Mhm…” An Nuan nodded. “The girls are friendly.”

“That’s good to hear.” Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips as he tried to figure out what he could say to make An Nuan stay. “Did you eat enough?”

His question made An Nuan chuckle. “Mmm… Zhang Yu Han’s wife is a good cook. The noodles and the side salad were delicious.”

Lin Xiao Feng’s expression turned softer. “That’s good. Wait for a bit. Yu Han is smoking some ribs under the barbecue griller. It should be ready soon. You have to try it. It’s Grandpa Zhang’s recipe.”

A baby’s cry made An Nuan look away.

At the side, Zhang Yu Ying was trying to comfort one of her triplets.

“I should go and help the girls,” An Nuan said.

“Mmm… Go ahead.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded.

An Nuan glanced at Lin Xiao Feng a few times before she turned around to join the other girls.

Lin Xiao Feng heaved a sigh as he watched An Nuan chat with Zhang Yu Ying and the others.

His relationship with An Nuan was still awkward.

Some days, he felt that An Nuan was getting comfortable being around him. Another day, he could tell that An Nuan was feeling awkward around him.

He really could not understand what was going through An Nuan’s mind.

An arm on his shoulder snapped Lin Xiao Feng from his thoughts. He turned and saw that Qi Zheng was leaning on his body. His eyes narrowed when he saw the teasing look in Qi Zheng’s eyes.

Lin Xiao Feng removed Qi Zheng’s arm away from him before he walked away.

“Hey, what are you getting angry about?” Qi Zheng chuckled.

The boys walked to the barbecue grill and watched as Zhang Yu Han brushed some sauce on the ribs.

Lin Xiao Feng pretended as if he did not hear Qi Zheng’s teasings.

“Lin Xiao Feng, I’m telling you that playing basketball once in a while is not that bad,” Qi Zheng continued. “Did you see the look on An Nuan’s face earlier? I’m telling you that it was the same as the girls who were chasing you back in high school.”

“Don’t speak nonsense.” Lin Xiao Feng was too lazy to talk to Qi Zheng.

“How is this nonsense?” Qi Zheng clicked his tongue. “Look, didn’t Yu Han win his wife’s heart when he played basketball? My wife, Yun Shu, said almost the same thing. She said that she likes watching me run around the basketball court. Xiao Feng, you can try winning An Nuan’s heart with your cool image while playing basketball.”

Lin Xiao Feng pondered over Qi Zheng’s words in silence.

Meanwhile, Su Ming Yuan was beginning to think that Qi Zheng’s words made sense.

He wondered if someone would pay attention to him if he took her to one of his casual games with the boys.
