Chapter 71: Get Along Nicely

Lin Xiao Feng found an excuse for him and An Nuan to leave after helping the Zhang couple tidy up the place.

Zhang Yu Han had prepared quite a lot of food for their barbecue night. He packed the leftover food for everyone and divided them among his friends before they left.

An Nuan thought of her grandfather as she looked at the food container in her hand.

She remembered her grandfather mentioning Grandpa Zhang’s barbecue recipe and guessed that her grandfather would be happy that he would get to try the meat.

Li Qin Yao walked the couple to the door and stopped to chat with An Nuan for a bit. The girls made a plan to hang out again, this time without the men around.

When An Nuan turned around to look for Lin Xiao Feng, she noticed the man was on the phone. The serious look on his face made her wonder if she should go over or wait until he was done with his phone call.

Lin Xiao Feng raised his head while An Nuan was still hesitating. Their gazes met and Lin Xiao Feng flashed An Nuan a smile. He waved his hand, motioning An Nuan to come closer.

Lin Xiao Feng ended his phone call while watching An Nuan approach closer.

“Are you ready to leave?” Lin Xiao Feng asked as he slid the phone into his pocket.

“Hmm…” An Nuan nodded. He watched Lin Xiao Feng turn to walk to his car and follow him.

Lin Xiao Feng helped An Nuan with the door before he slid into the driver’s seat.

An Nuan looked out the window as they began to leave the area.

Earlier, An Nuan was worried about coming to this gathering with Lin Xiao Feng. Surprisingly, she could get along with everyone well. The girls were especially friendly.

“How is it?”

Lin Xiao Feng’s voice made An Nuan turn to look at him.

The man was concentrating on his driving while glancing at her occasionally.

“Did you have fun at the gathering?” Lin Xiao Feng asked again when An Nuan did not react.

“It’s alright,” An Nuan answered. “The girls were welcoming and friendly. I thought that it would be awkward trying to get along with them but they were all nice. We get along nicely.”

“That’s good to hear. I was worried that you would feel uncomfortable around everyone.”

An Nuan narrowed her eyes. “I’m an adult. You don’t have to worry about me that much.”

Lin Xiao Feng laughed again. He met An Nuan’s eyes again and smiled. “Well then, if you need any help, you can always find Yu Han’s wife or his younger sister. You haven’t stayed in Y City for a while. I’m worried that you might not get used to it.”

“I know.” An Nuan nodded. “I exchanged my number with the girls before we left.”

Lin Xiao Feng chuckled upon hearing An Nuan’s words. “What did you girls talk about earlier?”

“A lot of things.” An Nuan smiled. “Mostly, we tried to get to know each other as this was only my first meeting with them. Later, we talked about Zhang Yu Han and Wei Jun Hao’s children. It’s still hard to imagine that Yu Ying gave birth to the triplets.”

Lin Xiao Feng remembered the day Zhang Yu Ying gave birth to the triplets.

Everyone came to the hospital to accompany the panicking Wei Jun Hao. The moment Wei Jun Hao saw his sons, he almost fainted.

“That’s right. I overheard your conversation earlier. It sounds like Su Ming Yuan is chasing someone?”

Lin Xiao Feng smiled. “Mmm… He’s interested in someone.”

“I thought that Su Ming Yuan was going to stay as a playboy for a while longer.”

Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips. “Su Ming Yuan isn’t really a playboy. That man… he deliberately hangs out with a few ladies and makes people think that he’s a playboy.”

An Nuan looked surprised. “Why would he do such a thing?”

“I am sure that you have heard about his family’s situation during high school.”

An Nuan remembered hearing some stories about Su Ming Yuan during high school.

His parents separated and it seemed that he had a stepbrother.

“Ah Yuan wanted his paternal family to leave him alone. He thought that acting like a playboy would annoy his paternal family. Most importantly, it gave him a reason to upset his father.”

An Nuan was surprised.

Initially, she had always thought that it was strange for someone like Su Ming Yuan to get along with Lin Xiao Feng and the gang. It turned out that Su Ming Yuan had a reason to pretend.

Their journey back to their residential area was smooth. It was almost late and the traffic was very smooth.

Seeing the guard’s house in front of them, Lin Xiao Feng glanced at An Nuan again. “I’m going back to Capital City tomorrow. I’m not sure when I will be able to come back.”

An Nuan nodded. “I know. Lin Xiao Feng, you don’t have to worry. I will help you to look after your elders while you are not around.”

“Thank you.” Lin Xiao Feng drove into An Nuan’s yard and turned off the engine. “An Nuan.” Lin Xiao Feng called her name again as she was about to leave.

He hesitated briefly as their eyes met again.

“What is it?”

“Will it be alright if I call you every day to catch up with you?” Lin Xiao Feng asked. His heart skipped a beat when he saw the puzzled look in An Nuan’s eyes. “I don’t have any other intention. It’s just that, I’m worried that I would not know how to answer when my mother asks me about you later.”

An Nuan pondered over Lin Xiao Feng’s request and thought that his request was quite reasonable, especially as they were now a married couple.

“Alright.” An Nuan nodded. In the future, her parents might ask her some questions about Lin Xiao Feng. At least she will be ready.
