The Substitute Groom Chases His Wife - Chapter 72
Chapter 72: One Month
Lin Xiao Feng went back to Capital City and it was unsure when he would be able to return to Y City again. After returning, Lin Xiao Feng was once again busy with his work as the mayor wanted him to oversee a development project.
During the time he went away, Lin Xiao Feng and An Nuan continued to talk.
Lin Xiao Feng would call An Nuan at night where they would update each other on their activities.
Except on the night when he had to go out for a social dinner, Lin Xiao Feng would not miss their phone call as he wanted to hear An Nuan’s voice and look at her face even just for a bit.
While Lin Xiao Feng was busy with his work, An Nuan was doing her best trying to figure out what she wanted to do. Last time, she told Lin Xiao Feng that she planned on going back to designing jewelry.
After looking at the current trend for a while, An Nuan felt that finding a platform where she could sell her product did not sound too bad. She wanted to have more freedom while she worked on her design and let someone else sell and market her product.
In the past few days, An Nuan was busy looking at a few platforms that she could work with.
The couple lived separately in two different cities.
Their interaction was limited and the only time they talked was to update on each other’s activities at night.
Time passed and soon, it has been one month since they both got married.
…
That morning, An Nuan was having her breakfast in the kitchen alone when she noticed her mother pacing back and forth with the phone in her hand.
An Nuan waited for her mother to finish the phone call. Before she got the chance to ask what was going on, her mother walked over and stopped in front of her.
“Nuan Nuan, are you free?” Shi Xi asked.
An Nuan swallowed the food in her mouth. “Well, you can say that. Mom, what’s wrong?”
She was planning to stay in her room and work on her sketches. However, An Nuan did not mind helping her mother out if she needed her help.
“It’s your father.” Shi Xi heaved a sigh. “He left an important document in the office. Do you mind going to the company and sending the document to him? He had a meeting today and the document seems urgent”
An Nuan nodded. “Sure. I’ll go and change my clothes first.” She picked up her bowl, wanting to finish her food before going upstairs to change her clothes.
“Take your time,” Shi Xi said. She watched as her daughter drank her porridge before going upstairs. Then, Shi Xi turned around to grab the documents that her husband had mentioned earlier.
After changing her clothes, An Nuan took Lin Xiao Feng’s car keys and headed out with the documents that she needed to deliver to her father.
The traffic was not that bad as most people had already arrived at their workplace.
An Nuan glanced at the time occasionally while hoping that she would not be too late.
Once she saw the company’s building, An Nuan finally heaved a breath of relief.
She pulled over her car into the parking space and noticed an older security guard walking over. An Nuan was driving an unfamiliar car to the company and the guards probably thought she had parked at the unsuitable place.
The guard stopped on his track once he saw An Nuan step out of the vehicle. ”
“Miss An.” The older guard greeted her.
The man has been working for the company for years and recognized An Nuan even though she rarely comes over to the company.
“Hello.” An Nuan smiled. “I’m here to deliver a document to President An.” She waved the brown A4-sized envelope in her hand.”
“Sure. President An should be in his office,” the guard said. He led An Nuan to the entrance and opened the door for her.

“Thank you.” An Nuan nodded.
“Miss An.”
A familiar voice called her name as An Nuan was heading to the receptionist. Turning around, An Nuan recognized the bespectacled middle-aged man as her father’s assistant.
“Uncle Fu?” The smile on An Nuan’s lips stretched wider.
“Your father… President An was notified that you would be here to deliver some documents,” the assistant said. “Miss An, why don’t you come upstairs with me?”
“Alright.” An Nuan nodded. She turned around and followed the assistant to the elevator.
The two of them had a brief chat in the elevator.
Once they arrived at the top floor, An Nuan was led to her father’s office.
She knocked on the door and pushed it open upon hearing his voice.
“Nuan Nuan.” An Qi smiled when he saw his daughter. “Come on in.”
“Dad.” An Nuan waved the brown envelope in her hand. “Mom said, you are going to need this document for your next meeting.”
An Qi laughed. He took the envelope from her daughter and peeked into it to check on the documents. A breath of relief escaped his lips when he saw that it was the right one. “Well, thank you for this. I was going to ask Assistant Fu to retrieve the document for me. However, he is quite busy with a few tasks. Sit down.” An Qi motioned to the sofa in front of them. “What do you like to drink?”
“Dad, you seemed busy,” An Nuan said. “I better not stay around and disturb your work.”
“Nonsense.” An Qi frowned. “It has been a while since you came over to visit me at the company. Nuan Nuan, you have to stay for a while and accompany me for a chat. You don’t have to worry about my work. I always have time for my daughter.”
An Nuan could not hold back her smile when she heard her father’s words. “Alright then. I’ll sit down for a bit to accompany you.”
