Chapter 84: Check on Her

The girls went on their shopping trip and ate delicious food on their first day in Capital City.

Seeing that An Nuan’s mood was getting better gave Ren Di a sense of relief.

It has been a month since An Nuan broke up with Pei Zhi Yi. As her closest friend, Ren Di was worried about An Nuan. These days, Ren Di would often invite An Nuan out, wanting to check on her friend’s condition.

Then, Sun Jiao’s phone call made Pei Zhi Yi cancel their plan.

“Nuan Nuan.” Ren Di picked up a piece of fried chicken and placed it on An Nuan’s plate. “You should try this. It’s delicious.”

An Nuan heaved helplessly, noticing that Ren Di was trying to feed her with a lot of food today. Under Ren Di’s watching eyes, An Nuan took a bite of the chicken. “Mhm… This is good.”

The chicken was crunchy. The coating sauce was sweet and spicy, just the way she liked it.

“Then, you should eat a little more. Nuan Nuan, you’re losing weight.”

An Nuan laughed, knowing what her friend was trying to do. “I can’t eat that much. Otherwise, I won’t fit in my dress tomorrow.”

Ren Di could only give up on making An Nuan eat a little more. “Alright then. We can always go food hunting after that event.”

The buzzing from An Nuan’s phone made their conversation halt.

An Nuan checked on the caller ID and her expression softened saw her mother’s name.

“Ren Di, I’m going to pick up the phone. It’s my mom.”

“Uh-huh.” Ren Di nodded. “Go ahead.”

An Nuan walked out of the cafe to find a quieter place to talk to her mother. “Hello, Mom?” An Nuan spoke as soon as the phone call was connected.

“Nuan Nuan, how is your trip to Capital City? Are you having fun?”

An Nuan smiled, knowing that her mother was calling to check on her. “Mhm… Ren Di and I shopped a lot earlier. Mom, do you need me to get you anything from Capital City?”

“No need. Capital City is just the same as Y City,” Shi Xi said. “I can get what I want from the mall here. You just need to look after yourself and have fun.”

“Mom, you don’t have to worry about me.”

“I heard that the crime rate in Capital City is higher. Nuan Nuan, you have to be careful,” Shi Xi reminded her daughter. “If you encounter any trouble, remember to contact Xiao Feng.”

“Mom, I know.”

Shi Xi heaved a sigh.

Her daughter was already an adult but she could not stop worrying about her little girl.

“That’s right. Nuan Nuan, it’s not easy for you to visit Capital City. Remember to visit Xiao Feng as well. Mom knows that your relationship with Xiao Feng is still estranged. Regardless of the reason you married him, the two of you are legally a husband and wife. Nuan Nuan, you have to care for him a little bit, even as your friend.”

“Mom, I know,” An Nuan said. “I already made plans to meet him after that event. I’m afraid that he’s a bit busy with his work. Last time, he mentioned a project that he had to oversee. Therefore, we’re just going to hang around for a bit and have a meal together.”

“That’s good.” Shi Xi was relieved to hear that the couple would be meeting.

What worried her the most was that her daughter would not spend time to meet Lin Xiao Feng.

Shi Xi was happy that she got a good son-in-law like Lin Xiao Feng. It was her daughter that she worried about.

She knew that An Nuan married Lin Xiao Feng to escape Pei Zhi Yi. An Nuan’s reason was what made Shi Xi worry the most.

Shi Xi was a good friend of Lin Xiao Feng’s mother.

If An Nuan did something wrong to Lin Xiao Feng, Shi Xi would feel guilty. After all, that young man had helped An Nuan and their family a lot after he married An Nuan.
