Chapter 90: Lin Xiao Feng’s Secretary

An Nuan followed Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze and looked at the pretty woman who had come with him earlier.

She could not deny her curiosity about this woman. From their brief interaction, An Nuan could tell that the woman’s relationship with Lin Xiao Feng was quite close.

As she retracted her gaze, An Nuan noticed Lin Xiao Feng was looking at her. Her cheek suddenly felt hot.

“That person…” An Nuan cleared her throat. “Your friend?”

Lin Xiao Feng shook his head. “My secretary. I’ll introduce her to you later. But… Can you explain what happened?”

“Ah…” An Nuan hesitated. She did not know where she should start.

“Mr. Lin.” Ren Di stood up and looked at Lin Xiao Feng guiltily. “This is all my fault. If I did not get into a fight with that crazy woman, perhaps An Nuan would not be here at the police station.”

“It’s not Ren Di’s fault,” An Nuan said. She paused to take a deep breath. “We ran into Sun Jiao. Ah… She’s my ex’s younger sister.”

Lin Xiao Feng thought that Sun Jiao’s name sounded quite familiar.

Then, he remembered this name.

Last time, Su Ming Yuan ran into An Nuan at the mall and saw that woman bullying An Nuan.

It was the Pei family again.

It seemed that they were not listening even after he had given them a warning.

“I did not expect to run into her in Capital City,” An Nuan said. “We spoke a few words and she got upset. Ren Di was trying to block Sun Jiao from approaching me. Then, they got into a fight.”

Lin Xiao Feng glanced at Ren Di.

Right now, he was glad that Ren Di was with An Nuan when she ran into Sun Jiao.

Lin Xiao Feng could not imagine what would happen if An Nuan was bullied again.

“Lin Xiao Feng, I did not cause you any trouble, did I?” An Nuan was worried. She suddenly remembered Lin Xiao Feng’s strict grandfather.

When she married Lin Xiao Feng, An Nuan told the old man that she would do her part as Lin Xiao Feng’s wife and help him. But if something were to happen to Lin Xiao Feng’s career because of her… then, she would feel guilty all her life.

An Nuan knew that it was not easy for Lin Xiao Feng to get his position and work under the mayor.

“Don’t think too much.” Lin Xiao Feng tried to smile. “You did not cause any trouble. This was a trivial matter. It should get resolved soon.” He glanced at Ren Di again. “You will be able to leave soon.”

Lin Xiao Feng made a mental note to call Su Ming Yuan later.

Since the Pei family dared to make trouble for An Nuan, then, they must be ready to face some consequences.

Lin Xiao Feng’s expression softened as he looked at An Nuan again. Just being able to see her earlier than planned was enough to make him happy.

It did not take a long time for the secretary and the officer to come out from the private room.

An Nuan watched as the woman exchanged a few words with the officer. After a handshake, the woman walked over to Lin Xiao Feng and smiled. “Mr. Lin, it’s done. They can leave now.”

An Nuan heaved in relief, knowing that they wouldn’t have to stay around the police station for too long. She exchanged a glance with Ren Di and smiled.

“However,” Secretary Shi continued. “It looks like the other party is planning to sue them for injury.”

Ren Di shot another look at An Nuan. It would definitely be troublesome if Sun Jiao wanted to sue them.

“You don’t have to worry about that.” Lin Xiao Feng frowned. “I will handle this personally. You can tell the officer that I will contact him later.”

Secretary Shi seemed as if she wanted to say something but decided to hold back. “I understand.”

“That’s right. Let me introduce you.” Lin Xiao Feng placed a hand on An Nuan’s back. “An Nuan, this is my secretary. You can address her as Secretary Shi. Secretary Shi, this is my wife, An Nuan.”

“Hello.” An Nuan put on a smile and stretched her hand for a handshake. She wondered if it was her imagination but the way Secretary Shi was looking at her was a bit strange.

“Mrs. Lin, hello.” The secretary silently observed the woman in front of her.

This was the first time that she had seen Lin Xiao Feng’s wife.

Secretary Shi remembered how Lin Xiao Feng had announced that he was married. She thought that he was joking. But the ring on Lin Xiao Feng’s finger told her that he was not.

Secretary Shi had always been curious about An Nuan. She did not expect that she would finally meet her in this place and situation.

Secretary Shi quickly retracted her hand after touching An Nuan’s for a brief second.

“We should go now.” Lin Xiao Feng said to An Nuan. “It’s not good to stay here for too long.”

“Oh.” Seeing that Lin Xiao Feng turned around to leave, An Nuan quickly held onto his arm.

Lin Xiao Feng halted at the sudden contact. He lowered his head, wondering if the person who was holding his arm was really An Nuan.

“What’s wrong?” An Nuan blinked, noticing that Lin Xiao Feng had suddenly stopped on his track. She followed his line of gaze and saw that Lin Xiao Feng was looking at her hand on his arm.

An Nuan leaned closer to Lin Xiao Feng and whispered, “There are other people here.”

It took Lin Xiao Feng a few seconds to figure out that An Nuan was putting on a show in front of Secretary Shi.

When they got married, the only people who knew about the truth of their marriage were their family and closest friends.

Perhaps, that was why An Nuan decided to put on a show in front of his secretary.

Not that he had anything to complain…

Lin Xiao Feng was happy that An Nuan was holding his arm no matter what reason she had.
