Chapter 91: Unwilling to Part

Lin Xiao Feng walked to his car before turning to his secretary. “You can go back first. I will see you tomorrow.”

“Mr. Lin.” The secretary had an awkward smile on her face. “Can you at least give me a ride to the subway?”

Lin Xiao Feng pursed his lips, realizing that he had momentarily forgotten that his secretary had been with him earlier.

Initially, Lin Xiao Feng did not want to bring his secretary along to look for his wife. However, when Secretary Shi heard that he was going to the police station, she immediately offered her assistance.

Lin Xiao Feng rejected her offer but Secretary Shi insisted on coming with him.

Lin Xiao Feng thought that it would be convenient to have his secretary along as he did not know An Nuan’s situation. Therefore, he agreed.

“Alright.”Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “I’ll send you to the subway.”

He helped An Nuan with her door before nodding to Ren Di. “Miss Ren, get in.”

Secretary Shi watched as everyone slid into the car. She inhaled a deep breath before sliding into the back seat with Ren Di.

The journey back to the subway was quiet.

An Nuan glanced at Lin Xiao Feng a few times, wanting to say something. However, with an outsider like Secretary Shi around them, An Nuan decided to be cautious. After all, she did not know how much the secretary knew about her marriage to Lin Xiao Feng.

Ren Di lowered her gaze and pretended to play with her phone.

She couldn’t help feeling that the atmosphere in the car was a bit awkward. Once in a while, Ren Di would take a look at An Nuan and ponder over her friend’s marriage situation.

The subway was not too far from the police station.

Lin Xiao Feng pulled the car in front of the station before turning to his secretary again. “Secretary Shi, thank you for today.”

The smile on Secretary Shi’s face stiffened. She felt as if her boss was getting rid of her quickly now that he had met his wife.

“Then, I’ll see you tomorrow. Mr. Lin, you have to remember to rest well. You still– ” Secretary Shi’s words were left unfinished. Her expression stiffened when she noticed the warning look on his face.

Secretary Shi understood what he meant.

Her boss did not want her to speak more than necessary.

Secretary Shi glanced at An Nuan one more time before she finally alighted from the car. Without looking back, Secretary Shi jogged into the station.

Ren Di was observing everything silently. Just as Secretary Shi’s figure could no longer be seen, Ren Di pushed the door open and smiled. “Nuan Nuan, I’ll be getting off here too.”

An Nuan could not hide her surprise. “Where are you going?”

“My friend, Yan Wei texted to say that everyone is gathering somewhere,” Ren Di said. “Don’t worry about me. Yan Wei will pick me up soon and send me back later. Nuan Nuan, I’ll see you at the hotel.”

Ren Di closed the door without giving An Nuan a chance to reply.

She moved to the side and took out her phone to call her friend.

As for the reason she chose to leave…

Ren Di thought that she should give the couple some time to speak. More importantly, the long silence was too awkward, and staying in the same room with Lin Xiao Feng was too scary.

It was better for her to look for Yan Wei and the others and apologize for her sudden disappearance. Ren Di wanted to tell her friend that she was out of the police station.

An Nuan watched Ren Di’s figure speechlessly. She could not figure out what was going on with her friend and why she left so suddenly.

When An Nuan looked up again, she noticed that Lin Xiao Feng was watching her.

“Should we go now?” Lin Xiao Feng asked.

An Nuan hesitated briefly before nodding. “Let’s go.”

Lin Xiao Feng smiled as he drove away from the station. Once he had entered the main road, Lin Xiao Feng cast another look at An Nuan. “Are you really alright? That person… she did not harm you, right?”

“No.” An Nuan shook her head. “The one with the most injuries should be Sun Jiao. Ren Di was quite fierce.”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “Ren Di is a good friend.”

An Nuan laughed. She wondered if Lin Xiao Feng was praising her friend because she was too fierce.

Linn Xiao Feng tightened his hand on the steering wheel. They were approaching An Nuan’s hotel soon. However, he was unwilling to part with An Nuan so soon.

“An Nuan,” Lin Xiao Feng called.

“Hmm?”

“Have you had your dinner?”

“Not yet.” An Nuan touched her stomach and recalled that she had not eaten anything after lunch earlier. She planned to have dinner with Ren Di after the event. Who would have thought that they would run into trouble?

Lin Xiao Feng smiled. “Then, should we have a meal together before I send you back to your hotel?”

“You haven’t had your dinner?” An Nuan looked surprised.

“Not yet.” Lin Xiao Feng shook his head. “I did not have the chance to have a proper meal with the discussion.”

There were a lot of people who wanted to talk to him. Lin Xiao Feng managed to eat something light to pad his stomach. But he was still hungry.

An Nuan remembered Lin Xiao Feng telling her that he was in a meeting earlier. It seemed that Lin Xiao Feng was busy enough that he did not get to eat his dinner. But this man still came to find her.

She remembered the anxious look on Lin Xiao Feng’s face when he appeared at the police station earlier.

Lin Xiao Feng probably ran over the moment he heard from Zhang Yu Han that she was taken to the police station.

An Nuan could not deny that she was touched.

“That’s good.” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “I know a few good places for us to eat. Do you have any preferences?”
