Chapter 95: A Memory

Lin Xiao Feng unlocked the door with his fingerprints.

As soon as he stepped into the house, the light in the living room lit up.

An Nuan observed Lin Xiao Feng for a while and realized that the light in the house would light up whenever there was a movement. For a while, she was impressed.

“Would you like something to drink?” Lin Xiao Feng asked after watching An Nuan’s reaction for a while. “I can make some tea.”

An Nuan looked at Lin Xiao Feng and sighed upon noticing his reddened face. “Forget it. You’re not well. Why are you thinking about making tea?” Her gaze turned to the sofa. “You should sit down and rest.” An Nuan raised her head to look at the second floor. “Right. Didn’t you take your medicine? Don’t you feel drowsy? Lin Xiao Feng, go and take a rest.”

“Are you leaving already?”

Lin Xiao Feng’s tone of voice made An Nuan look at him again.

She wondered if it was her imagination but An Nuan felt that the way Lin Xiao Feng looked at her was a little strange.

He looked like an abandoned puppy.

An Nuan quickly shook that thought away from her mind.

She decided that the only reason Lin Xiao Feng looked pitiful was because of his fever. Moreover, men usually turned clingy whenever they were sick.

Her elder brother would be clingy to her sister-in-law whenever he had a fever.

As for Pei Zhi Yi… An Nuan remembered that the man would act as if he was about to die whenever he was sick.

“I’ll stay around for a bit,” An Nuan said.

The light in Lin Xiao Feng’s eyes returned.

Instead of listening to her and resting, Lin Xiao Feng headed to the kitchen first.

An Nuan watched him before following him. Her brow furrowed as she watched him take out a glass from the cabinet.

Lin Xiao Feng paused in front of the refrigerator before moving to the other side.

A brief seconds later, Lin Xiao Feng returned to An Nuan’s side and handed her a glass of warm water.

“Is this for me?”

“Hmm…” Lin Xiao Feng nodded. “You should drink warm water.” He remembered watching Zhang Yu Han pouring a glass of water for Li Qin Yao a few times.

Each time, Li Qin Yao would look happy.

Lin Xiao Feng asked Zhang Yu Han about this and his friend answered that a woman would be happy when they asked them to drink more warm water. It showed that a man cared for the woman.

An Nuan heaved a helpless sigh. She took a mouthful of drink under Lin Xiao Feng’s gaze before putting the glass down on the kitchen counter. “Now, will you go and get some rest?” The corner of her lips twitched when he saw the disappointed look on Lin Xiao Feng’s face.

“An Nuan, you… why don’t you stay here for a night?” He let out a cough, realizing that his words might sound a little wrong. “I don’t mean anything. There’s a guest room that you can use.”

The more he spoke, the more Lin Xiao Feng realized that he needed to shut up.

He was done for.

An Nuan would think that he was someone who had hidden intentions. Instead of drawing her closer to him, he might be pushing her far from him.

He always reminded himself that he needed to stay calm and cool in front of An Nuan.

She had gone through a bad breakup and needed time to heal.

Lin Xiao Feng might be looking forward to having a normal husband and wife-relationship with An Nuan. But he had no intention to put some pressure on An Nuan.

“You…” Lin Xiao Feng lowered his head to avoid An Nuan’s eyes. “Forget it. Just pretend that I did not say anything.”

An Nuan watched the man in front of her in silence. “Lin Xiao Feng, you… could it be that you are the kind of person who does not like to be alone when you’re feeling unwell?”

A memory came to her mind as An Nuan spoke those words.

In this memory, An Nuan was probably five or six years old.

Their mothers were friends. Therefore, An Nuan remembered that he often hung around Lin’s residence when she was younger.

That day, An Nuan was looking for Lin Xiao Feng to play with him as usual. However, his mother told her that Lin Xiao Feng was asleep in his room due to his fever.

An Nuan was left to play alone. It did not take her too long to find it boring to play by herself.

Seeing that their mothers were busy chatting, An Nuan snuck away from the living room and headed upstairs.

It was not the first time she came to Lin’s residence. An Nuan knew the place well and where she would find Lin Xiao Feng.

An Nuan knocked on the door before pushing the door.

She peeked into the room and finally saw Lin Xiao Feng on the bed.

An Nuan tiptoed to the bed and was disappointed to see Lin Xiao Feng sleeping. She watched him for a while before deciding to leave. She wanted to play with him but did not want to disturb his sleep.

An Nuan did not expect that the moment she turned around, Lin Xiao Feng grabbed her hand, making her look at the little boy again.

“Don’t go.” Lin Xiao Feng whispered. “Don’t leave me alone.”

Lin Xiao Feng was unaware that An Nuan would remember a few things about their childhood.

At this time, Lin Xiao Feng was embarrassed that An Nuan had misunderstood his intention.

He was already a grown-up man. He did not mind being alone even when he was sick.

“No. It’s not like that.” Lin Xiao Feng coughed. He raised his head to look at An Nuan again. The look in his eyes turned gentler. “I just thought that you should get used to this place. After all, An Nuan, this will be your home too.”
