Chapter 94: 3) Win Rose with flower…
Lady Yang’s breath hitched in her throat.
Her husband was awake, snapping her out of her stunned reverie.
She swiftly schooled her expression back to her usual poised dignity, watching as her husband slowly roused.
The butler rushed to his bedside, a mix of concern and relief on his face.
“Master,” he called out, his voice betraying his surprise. “You’re awake. How do you feel?”
..
As the Patriarch groggily sat up, Lady Yang observed him intently. His usually robust body now appeared paler, his limbs shaky.
However, his sharp eyes were still as perceptive as ever.
He looked around the room, seemingly taking stock of his surroundings before he spoke. “How long was I out?” he asked, his voice still groggy from long sleep due to poison.
“Not much, Master… The Young Master hurriedly cured you,” the butler replied, his eyes filled with worry.
“We were growing quite anxious.”
The Patriarch let out a soft grunt, his gaze now drifting to Lady Yang. After all, who is stopping him from looking at his wife?
She met his gaze with her usual poise, her face betraying nothing of the inner turmoil she had just experienced.
She even let out a warm smile, like a lady.
The Patriarch studied her for a moment, seemingly assessing her reaction, like a hawk, feeling a little relieved seeing her warm smile, like a sunflower feeling the warmth of the sun.
He slowly pulled himself into a proper sitting position, wincing slightly at the effort. Despite his apparent weakness, a hint of steel remained in his eyes.
His Qi at the moment was exhausted.
He looked at the butler. “Leave us,” he commanded.
“I need to speak to my wife in private,” his gaze went towards everyone.
It was a clear indication he wished to be alone, however, he was unable to tell it directly to the Young Master and Saintess.
Thus,
Reading the room, Bai Lung and the women left, followed by the butler, who quickly bowed and made a hasty exit from the room, carefully closing the door behind him.

The Patriarch then turned his full attention to Lady Yang.
His gaze was sharp and penetrating, the silence stretching between them like a taut rope.
Lady Yang met his gaze with unwavering composure, her years of ‘Lady training’ allowing her to maintain her composure even in the face of her husband’s scrutiny.
The seconds ticked by, the only sound in the room being their quiet breaths.
Finally, the Patriarch broke the silence. “You’ve been quiet,” he said, his voice cool and measured.
“What’s on your mind?” he seems to feel something off about her.
Lady Yang’s heart rate increased slightly at his question, but she kept her expression neutral. “I’m just concerned about your well-being,” she replied, her voice calm and steady.

“You’ve been unconscious and affected by Heingsing moonflower, it was quite alarming,”
The Patriarch chuckled lightly, a hint of amusement in his eyes to have such a caring wife.
“Ever the concerned wife,” he said, his voice gentle yet tinged with a hint of mockery. “Always so dutiful and concerned about my health,”
A fool in the dark is no worse than a pig in the Park, and patriarch Yang is a perfect example.
She felt a wave of irritation at his words, but she kept her cool. “I take my responsibilities seriously,” she replied, her voice tinged with a hint of stubbornness.
“It’s my duty as your wife to care for your health and well-being… Or, is it not?”
The Patriarch chuckled again, his eyes narrowing slightly. “Yes, yes, your ‘duty’. Always so dutiful and obedient, never a complaint or a word of disagreement. It must be quite exhausting, playing the role of the perfect wife all the time,”
Lady Yang’s jaw tightened at his words, her irritation now mingled with a hint of anger. Her husband failed to realize, she wasn’t in the mood to joke, not when she just had a serious and mind-shattering talk with someone else.
“I am not just playing a role,” she retorted, her voice firm and steady. “I take my responsibilities seriously because I respect you. It’s not exhausting when it’s out of love,”
The Patriarch’s lips curled into a small smile.
“Love and respect, you say?” he mused, his voice carrying a note of skepticism. “How… endearing. But tell me, my dear, when was the last time you showed me any other emotion, other than concern and duty?”
It was the first time, they were having such a conversation, otherwise, their life was focused on responsibility and cultivation.
Nonetheless, his words only made her more and more irritated, her husband was totally incapable of feeling what was hidden behind her straight face, unlike Bai Lung.
It’s no surprise, as a woman she is a little hypocrite wanting her husband to magically know her emotion that is hidden beneath her stoic expression, but it’s the characteristics of a woman, Yang Su was no exception.
Not to mention, she felt a pang of discomfort at his words.
Her mind raced with a mixture of irritation and guilt. It was true, their relationship had become stale, routine. She had been so preoccupied with her duties that she had neglected the emotional aspect of their marriage.
But it wasn’t needed at all, a cultivator must have a firm and strong, capable of withstanding the mortal desires.
She avoided his gaze, her heart heavy with the weight of her own realization. “Perhaps… I’ve been too focused on my duties,” she admitted quietly, the admission bitter on her tongue, like a rotten lemon.
The Patriarch’s eyes sparkled with a hint of satisfaction at her reaction,
“Ah, finally, some truth,” he said, his voice mocking yet pleased.
“It seems your dutifulness has blinded you, dear wife. What good is a perfect wife if there is no affection, no passion?… I was thinking of having another child,”
Finally, patriarch Yang revealed his real intention, his son Yang Khan is crippled, it’s only reasonable if he has another heir, his blood.

A/N;
To be honest, I have kept characters with normal level intelligence at the moment, since they aren’t very important at the moment and also I need them for development, however, if you think they can be smarter, comment on it, and I will do it.
