Chapter 114: 114 – Monster Hunt [2]

A few minutes after the competition began…

“Maybe we should go a bit deeper into the forest?”

Lycus asked, looking at Raye and the others.

“Yeah, we should. These guys don’t give much points,”

Raye said, looking at the dead bodies of small goblins all around them!

There were roughly twenty corpses of goblins on the ground.

And Leon was the only one who killed them all!

“Ugh, I want to fight those bastards.”

Allen mumbled to himself, referring to the students from the other academies.

Lena, Leon, and Lycus felt the same as him.

They were frustrated that they were currently stuck hunting monsters because of the 10-minute no-fighting rule at the start of the competition.

Now, they didn’t know where Ignis and the other enemies were.

But as they were worrying about that…

“All we need is to get as many points as we can for the first day,”

Raye suddenly spoke.

“Hm?”

And his words caught the attention of the four.

Then casually…

“They’ll come to us first thing on the second day if we get a lot of points,”

Raye declared that!

“How do you know?”

Leon asked him, frowning.

And with just a shrug…

“It’s obvious. Don’t you get it?”

Raye said that and refused to explain!

‘It’s not actually obvious, but I just don’t know how to explain to him that I know it from the game.’

Leon became silent. He was still frowning. He felt like Raye had just called him stupid with his words just now.

They headed deeper into the forest.

“This is making me remember our first encounter, haha.”

Lycus said as he was walking beside Raye.

Raye just glanced at him, then with a smile…

“Yeah, it has been a while.”

He responded.

‘I can’t even imagine that I’ll be this close to the main characters back then.’

Raye thought.

Anyway, after a bit more walking…

“Enemies ahead.”

Lena suddenly said that.

She’s the group’s radar. She senses enemies before they even get near by spreading her mana on the surroundings.

“Where?”

Raye asked.

And confidently…

“Just tens of meters away, in the northeast.”

Lena responded!

“How many are they?”

Leon followed.

“Roughly forty, could be more.”

And Lena immediately answered!

Then, focusing her mana for a bit more…

“It looks like they’re Kobolds,”

She added that!

‘Ugh, them again?’

Raye asked in his head, remembering his time in the Old Mansion Dungeon where he fought Kobolds for days nonstop.

The group headed to where Lena felt the presence of the Kobolds.

And they reached it not long after!

“There’s a lot of them, huh.”

Lycus said, hiding behind a big tree with the others.

“Let’s make a plan to eliminate them all.”

Allen muttered, trying to sound strategic.

He kept on secretly glancing at Lena.

‘Ugh, he’s so obvious,’

Lena thought to herself, slightly frowning. She made sure not to look at Allen.

Anyway…

“That’s a good idea.”

Leon replied.

“…”

Lycus just looked at Allen and Leon. He was staring at them like they were idiots for stating the obvious.

But shaking his head, he opened his mouth to try and share his idea…

“So—”

But before he could even finish…

“[Bang]”

Everyone just heard Raye mutter that!

A small ray of fire blasted off from the tip of his finger.

And it hit a Kobold straight in the head, immediately killing it!

Lycus, Lena, Allen, and Leon looked at Raye in surprise. Their eyes were wide open.

But just looking back at them and shrugging…

“Who needs a plan? Let’s just overpower them and finish this already.”

Raye said that!

And then the Kobolds discovered where they were hiding and started rushing at them!

‘This guy!’

The four exclaimed in their heads, looking at Raye with a heavy frown on their faces.

Then Allen, Leon, and Lycus dashed toward the herd of Kobolds!

And looking at the three go…

“Haha, let’s just support them from the back.”

Raye mumbled that to Lena!

‘He’s still a scumbag sometimes, huh.’

Lena thought.

And then she cast a wide-area electric spell toward the monsters!

Her spell flew and hit a lot of Kobolds!

-GURGH?!

It didn’t kill them…

-KERGH?!

But they were stunned in their place!

“Haha, nice.”

Raye said with a laugh.

And then he started shooting off the Kobolds casually from afar!

‘Man, this is easier than when I was in the dungeon.’

Raye said in his head, smiling.

Leon, Allen, and Lycus are fighting multiple Kobolds at once at the very front!

‘Fuck you Raye!’

Allen and Leon cursed in their heads.

The four just watched him in silence.

While it was true that they were exhausted more than they had to because of their lack of strategy…

Lena searches for them, then Lycus, Allen, and Leon hunt them!

Raye provides support from the back.

She’ll be the one responsible in fending them off. And so, Lena focuses on healing her teammates more at the moment.

“Let’s stay for the night here.”

Raye said that as they stood on a fairly open space inside the forest.

“Hmm, okay.”

“It’s already dark too.”

“I’m hungry.”

“Me too.”

Lena, Lycus, Leon, and Allen replied respectively.

And so, just like that…

The five of them started setting up the tents they brought for themselves!

They finished not long after…

“We should probably eat.”

Allen suggested as soon as they were done.

“Yeah, we should.”

Raye responded to him.

Lycus said with a smile.

Raye simply responded.

Then suddenly…

“I’ll cook it.”

Lena volunteered!

“Thank you, Lena.”

“Thanks.”

Lycus and Raye said to her.

“I’ll help you!”

Allen exclaimed.

But just taking the meat and ignoring him…

“Don’t even try to, you don’t know anything about cooking.”

Lena declared that!

Allen became silent hearing her words, he was frozen in his place.

And looking at him like that…

“Erm… At least you tried.”

Leon said that and patted his back to comfort him!

Lena cut the big chunk of the beef meat into five portions enough for everyone.

And the extra meat, she gave it back to Raye.

“[Fire]”

Lena started a bonfire using magic and roasted the meats in it.

Raye also bought spices with him, and so, they used it on the meats!

And after a while of waiting…

“They’re done.”

Lena finished cooking!

“Let’s eat.”

“Hell yeah!”

“Finally.”

“I’m getting hungry.”

And the five of them started eating peacefully under the moon.

‘Tomorrow, we’ll be done here.’

Raye declared in his head, looking at the stars up in the sky.
