Chapter 50: 50 – Nothing Much
After picking up some stones…
Fwish—
Swish—
The Kobolds started throwing them at Raye!
“Fuck this!”
Raye exclaimed.
Tang—!
Fwoosh—
Then he started parrying the stones and dodging them!
Though…
Thud—
“Argh?!”
One stone still hit him in the head.
“So that’s how you want to play, huh…”
This pissed Raye off.
And with an annoyed expression on his face…
“[Bang] [Bang] [Bang]—!”
He started randomly shooting at the Kobolds!
Yes, the Kobolds had magic resistance…
Psh— psh— psh—
-Eeeek?!
-Chuurck!!!
-Hisss?!
But the force and impact of Raye’s attack still hurt them!
To them, it felt like being shot with an airgun!
And then it happened…
Bang!
Phuck—
-EEEIIIIIK!!!
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
One of the Kobolds got shot in the eye, and the bullet pierced through its brain!
And after some seconds later…
Thud—
That Kobold collapsed on the ground, dead!
“…”
Raye was surprised. He’d gotten lucky.
‘Sweet, I didn’t expect that.’
Raye thought.
-…
-…
-…
Even the other Kobolds went silent.
Now that they realized Raye could attack them from afar—and kill them…
-SHIIEK!!!
-EEEEK!!!
-CHIIERK!!!
They started charging at him!
The Kobolds decided to fight Raye in close combat!
“Ugh, finally…”
Raye muttered as he took a stance.
And when the Kobolds got near…
Fwish—
Raye raised his left hand, pointing at them.
Seeing this…
-Eeeeek!
The Kobolds stopped and raised their weapons.
They expected him to shoot again.
Though, it was just a bluff…
Bam!
Raye kicked off and dashed toward the nearest Kobold!
Holding his dagger in a reverse grip in his right hand…
Swoosh—
Raye swung it horizontally!
Clang—!
The Kobold blocked it, causing Raye’s attack to slide along its blade!
But following that…
Twack—!
Raye kicked the Kobold’s right knee with his left foot!
Crack— Pop!
-EEEIIIKKKK?!
The Kobold’s knee dislocated, and it let out a pained scream!
And while it was distracted by the pain…
Fwip—
Raye flipped his grip on the dagger…
Phuck—!
And stabbed the Kobold in the chin!
And to make sure…
SLASH—!
Raye swung vertically downward, cutting open the Kobold’s throat!
Bam—
Then he immediately dashed backward, not giving the other Kobolds a chance to sneak up an attack on him!
Thud—
It happened so fast, Raye killed that one Kobold in about five seconds!
-?!
The remaining five Kobolds froze in shock.
Raye, now back into the corner of the room again…
“…”
…silently watched them, waiting for their next move.
‘I killed two with surprise attacks and one by luck.’
Raye thought.
‘Now, it’s time for the hard part…’
And then he followed.
He noticed the Kobolds spreading themselves out, inching closer step by step to him.
-Hissss…
-Chhhrck…
They recognized Raye as cunning as their kind, so they were being extra wary.
The Kobolds took their stances.
Three held swords, one an axe, and the last a short sword.
And after that…
-SHIEEEKK!!!
Two sword users and the short-sword wielder charged at him!
‘I can pull off another surprise attack… I’ll make sure to finish it then.’
Raye thought.
Swish—
And then the middle Kobold closed in quickly, swinging its sword vertically!
Fwish—
Raye turned to his right, narrowly avoiding the attack.
Ting—!
And then he parried another sword coming from his right with his dagger!
‘Now!’
Raye thought as he saw the short-sword wielder charging from his left.
Opening his mouth…
“[Gust]!”
Raye cast his magic.
SWOOSH—!
A powerful wind erupted around him, sending the two Kobolds near him flying!
-Eeeeek?!
-Eeeeeekkk!!
The short-sword wielder stopped mid-charge…
-Chhhrck…?!
It shielded its eyes from the strong winds using its arms.
And while it was vulnerable…
Phuck—
Raye stabbed that Kobold in the throat!
Bam!
Then he kicked its body toward the axe-wielding Kobold who hadn’t rushed in earlier!
-Hisss?!
The surprised Kobold caught its comrade’s body.
And with its hands occupied…
“Die!”
Raye charged at it, a crazed smile on his face!
-SHIEEEKK!!!
The Kobold screamed in terror and swung its axe in panic!
But with just a little twist of his body to the side…
Twack—
Raye avoided a fatal injury!
He was just hit on his left shoulder blade, and it was shallow!
Then, as a response…
Phuck—
Raye stabbed the Kobold between its eyes!
He then left his dagger embedded in its head…
Fwip—
And immediately grabbed the its axe with his right hand!
Then, turning toward the other axe-wielder…
Raye saw it trembling in fear.
‘I’ve won this.’
Raye thought confidently after seeing its reaction.
Fwiiish—
Then he threw the axe at the terrified Kobold!
-Shiiiek!!!
Tang—!
The Kobold blocked it with its own axe…
“[Wind Blast]!”
SWOOSH—
-Eeeeek?!
But it was still blasted away into a wall! Raye had cast a follow-up magic!
BAM!
-Ergh?!
The Kobold dropped its weapon in pain.
And when it looked up…
-Chrrck?
Raye was already in front of it.
Phuck—
Raye stabbed the Kobold in the heart.
And to ensure its death…
“[Lit up]”
Raye muttered, igniting his dagger with fire.
Shhh—
Backing away, he pulled his blade out.
Thud—
Then the Kobold fell on the ground, lifeless.
“Ugh…”
Raye wiped the blood off of his face.
Then he turned toward the last two Kobolds…
Raye saw them staring at him like he was the monster.
‘Weirdos.’
He thought.
“You two are the last ones.”
Raye said coldly.
He just killed three Kobolds in about fifteen seconds.
And this fact made the remaining Kobolds fear him!
“Let’s get this over with already.”
*****
(Raye’s POV)
With the remaining Kobolds’ minds clouded by fear…
Their attacks became predictable. Now that only two were left, they couldn’t surround me from all directions anymore.
And just now…
Thud—
I killed another Kobold.
It rushed at me blindly in desperation. I dodged its attack and stabbed it in the stomach, setting its insides on fire too using my skill.
Then…
Looking at the last Kobold…
“Come.”
I provoked it.
It looked around, trying to find a way to kill me, or at least escape.
But when it found nothing…
It accepted its fate and let itself be consumed by anger…
-EEEEEEKKKK!!!
And then it charged at me.
“…”
It looked pathetic.
‘Though, earlier, it was so arrogant.’
I thought, remembering its smirking face when the Kobolds realized that I was physically weaker than them.
Anyway, when the Kobold got close…
Swoosh—
It swung its weapon vertically down.
I raised my dagger in response…
Clang—!
And blocked its attack.
Though…
Crack—
“?!”
My dagger cracked!
So immediately…
Bam!
I performed a taekwondo back kick, sending the Kobold to the ground!
It landed butt-first, and while it was in that vulnerable position…
Phuck—
I stabbed it in the face.
-EEEEIIIIKKK!!!
It let out an ear-deafening cry. It was annoying.
“[Lit up]”
I said, engulfing the dagger in flames while it remained lodged in its skull.
And after that…
Thud-
The Kobold fell on its back.
It was dead.
“…”
I didn’t pull the dagger back out, I just left it there—it was broken anyway.
And with that…
“Haaaa…”
I cleared the middle room where the Kobolds reside.
*****
Tap- tap- tap—
I walked back to the door.
“Hup.”
And then I picked up the spatial bag from the ground.
Looking inside…
-Meeeeeeep… meeeep… meeep…
I saw Pyro, still sleeping peacefully.
“Phew…”
A relieved smile spread across my face as I sat on the ground.
Then…
I rested for a bit.
I might’ve looked fine outwardly, with just minor bruises and scratches…
But I was exhausted as fuck.
My mana isn’t really empty, but I still used quite a lot of them…
And Physically, well, I’m tired and my body still aches.
My injuries from when I fell into this hole hadn’t healed yet, and new ones were just added during my fight with the Kobolds earlier.
With my condition, I wouldn’t be surprised if my body gives up any second now.
‘I need to recover before I face that giant boar.’
I thought as I rested my back on the door.
And with that…
“…”
I closed my eyes and started meditating.
*****
After a couple of hours…
-Meep!
Pyro woke up and came out of the spatial bag by himself.
Immediately opening my eyes…
“Good morning.”
I greeted him. I have no idea what time is it right now.
-Meep!
Pyro greeted back, he’s really energetic now.
He probably recovered most of his strength.
I’ve also recovered some of my strength after meditating.
It’s not as effective as sleeping, but it still counts as resting, after all.
What’s more, it improved my mana sensitivity a little.
Moving on…
“Hup.”
I stood up.
-Meep!
And Pyro hopped on my right shoulder.
I then walked toward one of the Kobold’s corpses…
“I’ll take this.”
And took its short-sword.
“Hmm…”
I hummed, looking at the short-sword’s condition.
Then, looking around…
“I should suit up.”
I mumbled that, seeing the leather armors worn by the dead Kobolds.
-Meep…?
On the other hand, Pyro was confused.
He was asking me what happened while he was asleep.
Pyro was eyeing the dead Kobolds on the ground.
Then, looking at him…
“Nothing much.”
I answered casually.
