Chapter 159: Borrowed Power
The ground beneath them trembled as the void-born ice entity loomed overhead, its abyssal core swirling with an ancient, unfathomable darkness.
More creatures emerged from the ruins, spilling forth like a never-ending tide of frozen horrors. An endless siege had begun.
Aryndale wiped the blood from his cheek, his grip tightening on his flaming sword.
“If it’s balance this thing fears,” he muttered, “then let’s show it what happens when we fight as one.”
Azedreo’s lightning surged, crackling along his fingers. “No holding back.”
Zefaniarina’s cosmic aura pulsed, the celestial markings on her arms igniting like molten gold. She was the key.
If they could merge their forces, fire, lightning, and cosmic energy, they might have a chance.
The monster struck first, its abyssal limbs lashing out, shattering what remained of the frozen academy.
A massive wave of frost surged toward them, swallowing the battlefield in an endless winter. Zefaniarina moved faster than sight, her form flickering as if phasing between worlds.
She thrust her hands forward, weaving the stars into a luminous shield that deflected the oncoming blizzard.
The void-born beast howled, its abyssal core pulsating as it commanded another wave of ice creatures to charge.
The onslaught began.
Aryndale met the first wave, his sword a blur of fire and steel. He sliced through the frozen monstrosities, their ice-flesh melting upon contact.
His movements were precise, honed from years of battle, but no matter how many he cut down, more came.
Azedreo fought beside him, his magic erupting in flashes of blue and white. Lightning struck the battlefield, vaporizing entire swaths of enemies.
He raised both hands, summoning a storm that shattered the ice warriors into fragments, but even those fragments crawled back together, reforming into their ghastly shapes.
“These things won’t stay down!” Azedreo growled.
“They are bound to the void,” Zefaniarina shouted over the storm of battle. “Their existence is unnatural, they are not meant to die by mortal hands.”
She lifted her arm, and portals of starlight opened above the battlefield. Cosmic beams rained down, incinerating the void creatures where they stood.
But the void entity itself remained unmoved. It raised both of its abyssal arms, and the world quaked.
From the ice-covered ruins, hundreds more of the creatures emerged, their glowing blue eyes locked onto the trio.
Azedreo’s heart pounded. “This isn’t just an army… this is a siege of the damned.”
The three of them pressed on, fighting through the seemingly endless waves of creatures. For every enemy slain, another took its place, their numbers growing impossibly fast.
Aryndale’s flames blazed brighter, his strikes more ruthless. He had never fought a battle of such magnitude, but he refused to fall.
Azedreo burned through his reserves of magic, his body aching from the constant energy output.
Sparks danced along his skin, and he knew he was reaching his limit. But stopping was not an option.
Zefaniarina gritted her teeth, her breath sharp as she pushed her celestial magic further.
She was holding back the worst of the void’s influence, but even she could feel the pressure closing in.
The ice creatures suddenly stopped. For a split second, the battlefield froze in eerie silence. Then…
The void entity let out a deafening roar. A shockwave of abyssal energy erupted outward, flinging Aryndale and Azedreo back like ragdolls.

The icy ground split apart, and from its depths, black tendrils slithered forth, reaching hungrily for them.
Azedreo slammed his sword into the ground, using the metal as a conductor to send a wave of electricity through the tendrils. They writhed and recoiled, but they did not burn.
“Not good,” he gritted.
Aryndale grunted as he pulled himself to his feet. His arms were cut, blood dripping onto the frost-covered ground. “It’s changing tactics.”
Zefaniarina floated above them, her form glowing, her golden eyes fixed on the void entity’s abyssal core. She raised both hands, and the sky itself shifted.
“Lend me your power now!” she called.
Azedreo and Aryndale didn’t hesitate. Azedreo channeled the last of his lightning into her, sending bolts of pure energy racing up her arms.
Aryndale cast his flames into her celestial spell, fusing fire and cosmic energy into a single, unstoppable force.
Zefaniarina’s entire body radiated starlight. She extended her hands toward the entity. “Celestial Collapse!”
A sphere of light formed above them, a miniature sun forged from their combined magic. It pulsed once, twice, then exploded outward in a divine surge.
The battlefield was consumed in brilliance.
The void creatures screamed as their frozen forms disintegrated. The tendrils of abyssal energy burned away, leaving only the colossal void entity standing in the aftermath.
It staggered, its core cracked, pulsating erratically.
Zefaniarina’s breath came in sharp gasps. “We have one shot left.”
Azedreo forced himself to stand. “Then we take it.”
Aryndale raised his blade one last time. “Together.”
With their remaining strength, the three of them charged. The void entity roared, its abyssal core flaring in desperation. But it was too late.
Aryndale drove his burning sword straight into the core. Azedreo unleashed the last of his lightning, sending a surge of raw power directly into the wound.
Zefaniarina’s cosmic magic locked it in place, preventing it from escaping. The void entity convulsed, its form splintering apart, the darkness within it collapsing inward.
With a final, agonized shriek, the entity imploded… and was no more.
The battlefield fell silent. The ruins of the academy lay in complete devastation, remnants of ice and abyssal magic scattered across the once-great halls of learning.
Aryndale’s sword clattered to the ground as he sank to one knee, panting heavily.
Azedreo sat back, exhausted beyond measure. “Is it… over?”
Zefaniarina stared at the spot where the entity had vanished. She closed her eyes, feeling the shift in the cosmic balance.
The void was sealed. She turned to them, her expression solemn. “For now.”
The brothers exchanged weary glances.
Agartha was in ruins. The siege had been won, but at what cost?
Zefaniarina brushed a hand over her forehead, looking up at the broken sky.
“I hope you’re ready,” she murmured. “Because this was just the beginning.”
