Chapter 218: The Goddess of Revenge (8)
Rohzivaan sat in the shadows of his secluded chamber, the glow of the interstellar communicator flickering dimly in the dark. His hands hovered over the device, hesitation clawing at his thoughts. He had spent days in solitude, drowning in his discoveries, questioning everything he had ever known.
But one person needed to hear the truth, his brother. Richmond. The only person he could still trust. His fingers finally moved, sending a secure transmission. It didn’t take long before the screen crackled to life, and Richmond’s face appeared, his brows furrowed, his expression tense.
“Rohzivaan?” His voice was a mix of relief and disbelief. “You’re alive?”
Rohzivaan exhaled, his grip tightening. “Yes.”
Richmond’s jaw clenched. “Where the hell have you been? Do you have any idea what’s been happening?”
“I know,” Rohzivaan said evenly. “I know everything now.”
A long silence stretched between them before Richmond’s voice dropped, barely above a whisper. “Everything?”
“Lotisia was never our real mother,” Rohzivaan said, his words slow and deliberate. “Our true mother… is Duchess Fiorensia.”
Richmond’s face went pale. He took a step back as if he had been struck. His lips parted, but no sound came out. Rohzivaan let the silence linger, knowing Richmond needed time to process the truth. He, too, couldn’t accept it in the first place.
Then, Richmond inhaled sharply, running a hand through his hair. “You… met her? I never thought this forbidden name was real!”
Rohzivaan nodded. “She’s alive. And she’s the one who brought down the Mors Dukedom.”
Richmond’s expression twisted with emotions too complex to name. His face mirrored anger, confusion, disbelief, and something deeper, something rawer. “Where is she? How could she destroy our home? I need to meet her!”
Rohzivaan hesitated. He had expected Richmond to react strongly, but the urgency in his brother’s voice surprised him. “Why do you want to meet her?”
“Because she’s our mother,” Richmond said through gritted teeth. “Because we’ve lived our whole lives under a lie. And because I need to see for myself what kind of woman she really is.”
Rohzivaan studied his brother’s face carefully. He did not doubt that Richmond would do anything to find Fiorensia now. But there was something else Rohzivaan needed from him. “If you go to see her, I need you to do something for me in exchange.”
Richmond’s eyes narrowed. “What is it?”
“Don’t tell Ahcehera about me.”
Richmond’s brows furrowed in confusion. “What? Why?”
“I don’t want her to find me,” Rohzivaan said, his voice firm. “Not yet.”
Richmond’s gaze sharpened, searching his face. “Rohzivaan, she’s been looking for you everywhere. She…”
“I know,” Rohzivaan cut in. “But I can’t face her right now. Not like this.”
Richmond’s shoulders tensed, but he didn’t argue right away. He studied Rohzivaan for a long moment before finally exhaling. “Fine. I won’t tell her.”
Rohzivaan felt a strange sense of relief, though it was fleeting.
“But,” Richmond added, his voice hard, “you can’t avoid her forever.”
Rohzivaan didn’t respond. He didn’t have an answer for that.
Richmond sighed, rubbing his temple. “Where is Mother?”
Rohzivaan hesitated before finally giving him the location. “She’ll know you’re coming.”
Richmond gave a sharp nod. “Then I’ll see her for myself.”
The transmission ended, leaving Rohzivaan alone with his thoughts once again. But now, something felt different. His mother was waiting. His brother was going to meet her. And Ahcehera… she was still searching for him.
It pained me knowing how difficult it must be for her. But I also need to distance myself and dive into this separation.

Rohzivaan pressed his fingers against his forehead, closing his eyes. No matter how much he tried to push her away, her presence lingered in his mind. And for the first time, he wasn’t sure if he could keep running from her forever.
I might become a demon like my mother.
–
Richmond stood at the entrance of the hidden estate, his heart pounding against his ribs. The air was thick with an unknown presence, something dark, something far beyond his understanding.
This was where Fiorensia had rebuilt her domain, the same woman who had vanished from history, erased herself from their lives, yet… she had been pulling the strings all along like she was never gone. His hands clenched into fists as he took a step forward. He wasn’t sure what he expected.
Anger? Hatred? Resentment?
But deep down, he carried a sliver of thought of something dangerous. Hope. He hoped that she had once loved them. He hoped that there was a reason she had disappeared.
The doors creaked open before he could touch them, revealing a vast hall. At the far end of the room, seated on a throne of dark obsidian, was Fiorensia. She looked nothing like the mother he had imagined.
She was regal, draped in robes embroidered with shifting golden patterns, her presence heavy like a storm waiting to break. But it was her eyes, deep crimson, filled with something mysterious and powerful, that made him freeze in place.
“Richmond.”
His breath hitched. She knew his name. Slowly, she rose from her throne, her every movement fluid, graceful. Yet, as she approached, something softened in her gaze. Richmond wanted to speak and demand answers, but his throat closed up.
“You’ve grown,” Fiorensia said quietly, her voice like silk wrapped around steel. “You look like him.”
Richmond’s body stiffened. “Like who?”
Her lips curved into something bittersweet. “Your father.”
His chest tightened at the mention of the man who had shaped so much of his life, Duke Ricardo Mors. The man he had always believed to be just and strong, only to learn of his betrayal, his weaknesses. But right now, he didn’t want to talk about his father.
“Why did you leave?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. “Why didn’t you come back for us?”
Fiorensia reached out, her fingers hovering just above his cheek before she hesitated and withdrew her hand. “I never left you,” she murmured. “Not truly. I was watching. Protecting you from the shadows.”
Richmond’s throat burned. “That’s not enough.”
For the first time, a flicker of pain crossed her face. “I know.”
Silence stretched between them, filled with words neither could say.
Then, Fiorensia spoke again, her voice gentler. “You, Riezekiel, and Rohzivaan… you were my greatest treasures. I fought for you in ways you will never know. And yet, I could not keep you beside me.”
Richmond’s hands trembled. “Then why? Why did you let Lotisia take your place? Why did you let us think she was our mother?”
Fiorensia exhaled, the weight of centuries pressing against her. “Because the world would have never accepted the truth. Because the Mors Dukedom would have crumbled before the time was right. Because… I had a plan.”
