Chapter 222: See You Again
The air in the Sirius Kingdom felt heavier than usual, burdened with unanswered questions and impending war. Ahcehera stepped through the palace gates, her heart warring between duty and the desire to uncover the truth behind Fiorensia’s actions.
My duties prevent me from finding him, but I can’t do anything about it.
She had left behind too many unsolved mysteries, her mate’s disappearance, the shattered Mors Dukedom, and the secrets that lay hidden beneath the ruins of betrayal. But now was not the time for personal pursuits.
War loomed over the Western Region, and the kingdom demanded her undivided attention. She strode through the marble hallways, her boots clicking against the polished floors, her posture tense with unspoken frustrations.
The grand doors of the war chamber loomed ahead, and as they swung open, the sight that greeted her stopped her in her tracks. A figure stood at the center of the room, a presence so familiar yet equally distant that it unsettled her.
Eros Archinsyne. What is he doing here?
The last time she had seen him was on the battlefield, a dependable teammate wrapped in shadows, a man of destruction who had once made her heart falter. And yet, here he stood, not as an enemy, a stranger, but as an ally, a prince of one of the great kingdoms in the Andromeda galaxy.
It’s not impossible for him to bear the royal blood, but he didn’t tell anyone about it before.
His eyes, sharp and piercing, met hers without hesitation, as if he had been waiting for this moment. The air between them crackled with an energy that neither could name, a tension that went beyond past encounters and spilled into something unspoken.
Ahcehera forced her expression into neutrality, suppressing the flicker of emotions that threatened to rise.
“You’re late,” Eros remarked, his voice smooth yet edged with amusement.
Could he also make jokes now? Ahcehera ignored the comment and turned to the assembled generals and council members.
The room was alive with discussions, holographic maps of the galaxy displayed before them, glowing with marked zones of conflict. The situation in the Western Region had reached a critical point, and their task was clear.
“The fourth demon god has awakened,” one of the generals began, his tone grim. “With its rise, the high-level Zergs have grown more aggressive. Xefier is already suffering heavy losses, and if we don’t act fast, the invasion will spread across the entire Western Region.”
Ahcehera’s fists clenched at the severity of the situation. She had anticipated war, but the emergence of another demon god added a complexity that no one could afford to ignore.
Eros studied the map calmly, his fingers tapping against the table as he processed the information. “We need to act before the infestation spreads. If the Zergs multiply further, even the strongest fleets will struggle to contain them.”
The room fell silent, waiting for a strategy to be laid out. Ahcehera exhaled slowly before stepping forward. “I’ll go to Xefier,” she stated firmly. “We need someone on the frontlines who can assess the situation firsthand. If the demon god has awakened, we’ll confirm its influence over the Zergs.”
Eros tilted his head slightly, studying her with an unreadable expression. “You’re suggesting a high-risk mission,” he pointed out.
“I’m suggesting the only option we have,” she countered.
The council exchanged glances, weighing the risks and the necessity of her proposal. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the king gave his approval. “You will not go alone,” he declared. “Prince Eros will accompany you.”
Ahcehera turned sharply to the king, her father, her protest forming on her lips, but before she could voice it, Eros spoke first.
“I accept.”
The council murmured in approval, and with the decision made, there was no room for argument. Ahcehera narrowed her eyes at Eros, but he only met her gaze with the faintest of smirks.
Moments later, they stood outside the palace, their ship prepared for immediate departure. The tension between them remained, an invisible force neither could ignore.
“Don’t think for a second that I need your help,” Ahcehera muttered as they stepped onto the vessel.
Eros chuckled, his golden eyes glinting with something dangerously close to amusement. “Oh, I don’t doubt your capabilities, Princess,” he replied. “But let’s be honest. You wouldn’t last long without me.”
She shot him a glare before turning away, her mind already shifting to the battle ahead. Personal conflicts had no place in war. Whatever history she had with Eros Archinsyne, whatever unspoken emotions lingered between them, would have to wait.
For now, the war demanded their full attention. The ship cut through the vast darkness of space, its engines humming with steady power as it approached Xefier. Ahcehera stood near the viewport, arms crossed, her gaze fixed on the distant planet.
Even from here, she could see the faint flickers of battle, explosions lighting up the atmosphere, the movement of fleets engaging the invading Zergs. The sight sent a chill down her spine. They were already too late to prevent the conflict. Now, all they could do was contain it.
Behind her, Eros leaned against the control panel, watching her with an expression she couldn’t quite read. “Nervous?” he asked, breaking the silence.

Ahcehera turned to him, her eyes sharp. “I don’t have the luxury of being nervous.”
His lips curled slightly as if he found her response amusing. “That’s what people say when they’re trying to convince themselves.”
He changed in such a short time. Where was that silent man I once met?
She ignored him, her mind too occupied with the mission ahead to entertain his provocations. A holographic projection of Xefier flickered to life between them, detailing the planet’s regions and the most concentrated Zerg-infested zones.
“We need to land near the capital,” Ahcehera said. “If there’s any surviving command, that’s where we’ll find it.”
Eros nodded. “And if it’s already fallen?”
“Then we eliminate whatever’s taken its place.”
For a moment, he just looked at her, something almost unreadable in his eyes. Then, with a slow nod, he pushed off the panel and adjusted the coordinates. “Then let’s make sure we’re ready.”
As the ship descended toward the war-torn planet, Ahcehera steeled herself. No matter what awaited them on Xefier, no matter the threats they would face, she would not falter.
Not against the Zergs. Not against the fourth demon god. Not even against the emotions that stirred in her heart when she looked at the man standing beside her.
