Chapter 39: The Mate Bond (7)
When Ahcehera reached her father’s grand office, the atmosphere inside was heavy with urgency.
Her fifth brother, Azedreo, stood near the central console, discussing something intently with their father, King Dan.
The king’s presence was as commanding as ever, his piercing gaze shifting to Ahcehera the moment she entered.
“Father, Fifth Brother,” Ahcehera greeted with a slight bow, her tone respectful but brisk.
Azedreo motioned for her to join them, pointing toward the holographic projection suspended mid-air. Streams of data and intricate maps lit the room in a cool blue glow.
“We’ve been reviewing the data from the wormhole investigation,” Azedreo began. “Take a look at this.”
Ahcehera stepped closer, her eyes scanning the charts and coordinates. Her breath hitched as the implications sank in.
“This wormhole… the distance it could reach is staggering. If it’s artificially created, it could send a person or even objects to entirely different planets or dimensions.”
Her words made both men turn their full attention to her.
“Do you know something about this?” King Dan asked, his voice calm but edged with authority.
Ahcehera hesitated before responding. “I recently saved someone, Richard Mors, the third son of the Northern Duke. He’s a freshman at the academy.”
The revelation immediately piqued Azedreo’s interest. “What happened to him?”
Ahcehera’s expression turned serious.
“He was found drowned and unconscious, his body submerged for hours. Under normal circumstances, no student should be able to leave the academy grounds unless they’re on a mission, during a holiday, or if there’s a family emergency. And yet, he somehow ended up here in Sirius.”
Azedreo frowned, his sharp mind quickly piecing together the implications. “Are you suggesting he traveled through the wormhole?”
“It’s the only explanation that fits,” Ahcehera replied.
“For his body to have traveled such an impossible distance underwater from Agartha to Sirius… unless he used this wormhole, it couldn’t have happened.”
King Dan’s brows knitted together in contemplation.
“If that’s true, the academy itself might be hiding something far more dangerous than we anticipated. I’ll contact Duke Mors to gather more details. This incident with Richard might be connected to something bigger.”
The room fell into a contemplative silence as the weight of their conversation settled. Then, Azedreo broke it with a decisive tone.
“If the academy is compromised, we need to act quickly. I’ll start tracing the coordinates and studying possible entry points for the wormhole.”
“And I’ll work on planning a way to explore it safely,” Ahcehera added, her resolve evident in her voice.
King Dan nodded, his expression stern but approving. “Be cautious, both of you. We cannot afford to make any missteps.”
As the siblings exchanged determined glances, the unspoken bond between them was clear.

Richard was signing the final parts for his discharge when his father’s optical brain suddenly buzzed with an urgent call.
The unexpected interruption caused the entire family to pause, their anticipation of returning home replaced by a sense of unease.
Duke Mors answered the call, his expression darkening with each passing second. When the call ended, he turned to his family, his tone grave.
“There’s been a development,” he began.

“What’s wrong, Father?” Richard asked, concern evident in his voice.
The duke’s sharp gaze settled on his son. “Your accident was not coincidental. It seems there’s a connection to the recent incident involving the second prince.”
Richard stiffened. “You mean the second prince’s accident? Yes, Father, I heard about it.”
The duchess interjected, her voice tinged with worry. “What does this mean, Ricardo? Is there a larger threat?”
Duke Mors nodded solemnly. “The king has summoned us to the palace.”
“The fifth prince discovered evidence of a hidden wormhole near the academy. Its existence is a grave threat, not only to the school but to the kingdom at large.”
The duchess gasped, her hand clutching her chest. “A wormhole? Do you think interstellar pirates could exploit it to infiltrate the academy?”
“Not just pirates,” the duke replied grimly. “Monsters, zergs, or worse could use it as a gateway. If left unchecked, the entire region could descend into chaos.”
Richard’s mind raced, trying to process the implications. His voice was steady despite the storm brewing inside him. “Are we heading to the palace now?”
“Yes,” the duke confirmed. “Your elder brother will return home to oversee the safety of your sisters. The three of us will meet the king immediately. The faster we report, the sooner we can address this crisis.”
“The situation is more dangerous than I anticipated,” the duchess murmured, her usual calm demeanor shaken. “If monsters or zergs invade, the citizens will be at risk.”
Duke Mors placed a reassuring hand on his wife’s shoulder. “That’s why we need to act swiftly. The kingdom must prepare for every possibility.”
With that, the family of three left the hospital under the cover of secrecy, escorted by imperial guards to the palace.
The atmosphere was tense, the weight of their mission palpable.
As their transport sped through the capital’s illuminated streets, Richard glanced out the window, his thoughts lingering on the academy, the wormhole, and the princess who had saved him.
Whatever was happening, he vowed to uncover the truth and protect those he cared for, no matter the cost.
As the family’s carriage halted at the palace gates, an overwhelming sense of foreboding swept over Richard.
He clutched his chest suddenly, a sharp pain piercing through him like a dagger.
“Richard!” his mother exclaimed, alarmed by the crimson streak staining his lips. “What’s happening? Why are you coughing blood?”
“I’m fine,” Richard rasped, forcing himself upright despite the ache radiating through his chest. “We need to go.”
The palace grounds were in disarray, chaos spilling into the air as servants and guards rushed about.
When they approached the main hall, the sight of the queen and the sixth prince greeted them outside.
Behind them, the second and fourth princes were being escorted to safety, their faces pale and solemn.
“Your Majesty,” the family of three bowed respectfully. But the queen’s teary eyes and trembling fingers betrayed the storm that had descended upon the palace.
“I’m relieved you arrived safely,” the queen said, though her voice wavered.
“Your Majesty,” Duke Mors stepped forward, his tone steady but concerned. “What has happened here?”
