Chapter 49: The Wild (8)
When the hut was nearly complete, Ahcehera turned her attention to the finer details that transformed the structure from a mere shelter into a comfortable home.
She carefully hung curtains over the windows, their soft fabric swaying gently with the breeze.
Next, she applied a layer of wood shiner to the flooring, ensuring every surface was smooth and free of sharp edges that might cause injuries.
With the structure polished to perfection, she began filling it with household essentials. Pots and pans were placed neatly in the kitchen, alongside tableware, plates, and glasses.
Even the dining table boasted a simple yet elegant centerpiece, an intricate vase that she had tucked away in her supplies.
Richard watched in stunned silence as Ahcehera continued to unpack, revealing a seemingly endless array of items.
Beds, bedding, and pillows appeared as if conjured from thin air, perfectly suited to their needs. She even had spare clothes, not just for herself but for an entire family.
“Your Highness, were you preparing to relocate an entire house?” Richard finally asked, half-joking, as she folded a set of intricately embroidered garments.
Ahcehera didn’t look up from her work. “You can never be too prepared,” she replied matter-of-factly.
“If an emergency occurred, I had to be ready to run with my family and keep them alive. That includes having everything we might need.”
Richard stared at her in amazement. He couldn’t bring himself to ask how many space buttons she had brought or how they worked.
Unbeknownst to him, what she carried went beyond mere storage devices, her supplies were housed within a pocket dimension, a space bound to her soul, an advanced technology few outside her kingdom could comprehend.
Even after everything was in place, Ahcehera didn’t stop. While Richard settled into his newly assigned room, she worked tirelessly through the night.
She installed surveillance cameras both inside and outside the hut, ensuring every corner was monitored.
Sensor bots were scattered strategically, creating a web of detection a hundred meters around their residence.
Rover camera bots roamed the perimeter, ready to alert them of any movement or danger.
Finally, she activated a much larger protective cover, its faint shimmer enveloping the area like a shield.
It was strong enough to withstand heavy attacks, keeping them hidden from prying eyes and predatory creatures alike.
As dawn approached, Ahcehera sat on the edge of the balcony, her eyes scanning the horizon. Exhausted but satisfied, she allowed herself a brief moment of rest.
Their new home stood strong and secure, a testament to her resilience and foresight.
Since when did I accept him?

The next morning, Ahcehera and Richard set out together to scout the surrounding area.
The forest was alive with the hum of insects and the soft rustling of leaves, creating a sense of both tranquility and lurking danger.
“We’re here to map the terrain and locate edible food sources,” Ahcehera stated, her voice calm but firm.
“Avoid putting yourself in any disadvantageous or harmful situation. Safety is our priority.”
Richard nodded. “Understood. Let’s cover more ground by splitting up. I’ll head east, you take the northern route. We’ll meet back here in two hours, Princess.”
Ahcehera handed him a space button, her expression serious. “This will store anything useful you find. And take these.”
She passed him a compact rifle, a small blade, and a few grenades. “These weapons should help you defend yourself if necessary.”

He accepted them with a faint smirk. “You really think of everything.”
“Do you have your mecha with you?” she asked, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“Always,” Richard replied, tapping the bracelet on his wrist that served as the activation device.
“Good. Don’t hesitate to use it if you encounter anything dangerous.” Ahcehera’s tone softened slightly. “See you later.”
Richard gave her a small nod before turning to walk eastward.
The morning sunlight filtered through the canopy above, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor as he disappeared into the dense foliage.
Ahcehera lingered for a moment, her gaze following his retreating figure. A flicker of unease crossed her face, but she quickly shook it off.
“Stay safe,” she murmured under her breath, before adjusting her gear and heading northward, her mind sharp and focused on the task ahead.
Ahcehera moved through the forest with ease, her senses alert for any signs of danger or resources.
The northern path was lush and overgrown, with towering trees that seemed to touch the sky and thick underbrush that tangled around her boots.
She carefully marked her trail on her holographic map, ensuring she could navigate back without issue.
As she ventured deeper, she began to notice clusters of berries growing on thorny bushes.
The fruits were bright red and tempting, but Ahcehera wasn’t one to take chances. She plucked a few with gloved hands and placed them in a small analyzer from her utility belt.
“Non-toxic but slightly bitter. Could be useful for sustenance,” she muttered, storing the berries in her space button for further study later.
Further ahead, she stumbled upon a small clearing where several unusual plants with glowing blue flowers grew.
The faint bioluminescence caught her attention immediately. She crouched beside one, examining the petals closely.
“Potential medicinal properties?” she wondered aloud, carefully extracting a sample and storing it.
The forest wasn’t entirely silent.
She heard the distant cries of unfamiliar animals and the occasional rustling of foliage nearby, which she dismissed as small creatures scurrying about.
Her sensor bracelet, however, remained calm, showing no immediate threats.
Back at the designated meeting point, Richard arrived just as scheduled, carrying several items in his space button. His clothes were slightly dusty, but his expression was composed.
“What did you find?” Ahcehera asked, standing from her crouched position where she had been sketching terrain details on a digital tablet.
“Edible roots, a few medicinal herbs, and some strange rocks I thought might be useful for crafting.” He handed her the space button.
She reviewed the contents quickly, nodding in approval. “Good work. These roots are a decent energy source, and the herbs might come in handy. What about threats?”
“Nothing major,” Richard replied. “A few small creatures scurried away when they saw me. Nothing aggressive.”
“Same on my end,” she said, handing him back the space button. “But we’ll need to test these plants more thoroughly before incorporating them into our supplies.”
Richard glanced at the glowing flowers she had collected. “What’s that?”
“Unidentified,” Ahcehera replied. “Possibly medicinal. I’ll run tests tonight.”
