Chapter 84: The Mate’s Connection
Ahcehera stared at Richard, her thoughts a whirlwind of disbelief and relief. How was he able to enter my space?
After tirelessly searching for him, she hadn’t expected to find him here, in the depths of her own secret space, holding an artifact she had hidden away for a while.
Neither of them spoke for what felt like an eternity. Each waited for the other to break the silence, and the burden of unresolved issues weighed heavy in the air.
Finally, Ahcehera stepped forward, her gaze shifting from Richard’s face to the sword in his hands. “How…?” she began, her voice barely audible.
Richard’s expression darkened slightly, his grip on the sword tightening. “You tell me,” he replied, his tone guarded. “What is this place, Ahcehera? And why are you here?”
Ahcehera’s lips pressed into a thin line, her thoughts racing. He was finally willing to call me by my name. Is he so comfortable?
She wasn’t ready to explain everything, not the nature of Cresencia, not why a magical sword was here, and certainly not why she had hidden the existence of her most sacred space from everyone.
But Richard’s gaze bore into her, demanding answers, and she knew she couldn’t evade him for long.
Ahcehera took a deep breath, steadying herself. She had prepared for many things, but not for Richard to stumble upon Cresencia, let alone find that sword.
Her gaze flickered to the blade still clenched in his grip. The runes on the hilt pulsed in response to him as if recognizing him, acknowledging him.
“This place,” she finally said, voice controlled but laced with tension, “is mine.”
Richard’s eyes narrowed. “Yours?”
“Cresencia is my domain. A space beyond time, beyond galaxies.” She stepped closer, watching his reaction. “No one should have been able to enter without my will.”
Richard scoffed, his fingers tightening around the sword. “Then explain how I got here, Ahcehera. Because I sure as hell didn’t come here by choice.”
She remained silent for a moment, evaluating the possibilities. There was only one answer, the bond.
The realization made her heart skip a beat. If he was here, if Cresencia had accepted him…
Her fingers curled into fists at her sides. “It must have been because of our bond,” she admitted. “You’re connected to me now. That means Cresencia recognizes you.”
Richard’s jaw clenched. “Because of what happened during the full moon.” His voice was low, edged with something unreadable.
Ahcehera flinched but did not look away. She had no excuse, no way to change what had already happened.
Richard exhaled sharply and turned his attention back to the sword. “And this?” He lifted it slightly, testing its weight. “This thing called to me. The moment I saw it…”
Ahcehera’s pulse quickened. That’s impossible.
“Put it down, Richard.” Her voice was firm, almost commanding. “You don’t know what you’re holding.”
Richard smirked but did not obey. “You’re afraid I’ll unlock something you don’t want me to know?”
Ahcehera took another step forward, closing the distance between them.
“That sword is not an ordinary weapon. It was forged from the soul of a dying star, sealed away for a reason.” Her purple eyes burned with a warning. “It is not meant for you.”
The runes flared brighter in Richard’s grip as if challenging her claim. He could feel its power coursing through him, dark, intoxicating, yet somehow familiar.
His wolf stirred within him, recognizing something he couldn’t quite name. “Funny,” he murmured. “It seems to think otherwise.”
Ahcehera reached for the blade, intending to take it from him, but the moment her fingers brushed the hilt, an explosion of energy erupted between them.
A shockwave blasted through the room, sending her stumbling back. Richard staggered but held his ground, his eyes widening as the sword crackled with power.

The engravings burned a deep crimson, and for the briefest moment, Richard saw something, visions flashing in his mind, too quick to comprehend.
A battlefield drenched in blood. A sky torn apart by war. A pair of glowing eyes watching him from the darkness.
Then, just as suddenly, the energy receded. The room fell eerily silent, save for their ragged breathing.
Ahcehera was the first to recover. “Richard, listen to me,” she said, her tone urgent. “That sword… it’s reacting to you. That shouldn’t be possible.”
Richard ran a hand through his hair, trying to shake the lingering images from his mind. “Well, it is,” he muttered. Then, lifting his gaze to hers, he added, “So, what does that mean?”
Ahcehera hesitated, struggling to suppress the growing unease in her chest. “It means,” she finally said, “that your existence is more dangerous than I thought.”
Richard frowned at her words. “Dangerous? You make it sound like I’m some kind of ticking time bomb.”
Ahcehera’s eyes flickered to the sword still in his grip, the ancient runes faintly glowing as if whispering secrets only it knew.
“You might be,” she admitted. “That sword was sealed away for a reason. No one, not even my ancestors, could wield it. But it reacted to you.”
Richard scoffed. “Then maybe it’s been waiting for the right person.” He held it up, studying the way the blade shimmered under the dim light. “Maybe it was waiting for me.”
The sword will bring calamity to its wielder. Ahcehera’s heart clenched. That was exactly what she was afraid of. She took a step closer, lowering her voice.
“Richard, that’s not a good thing. That sword, Eliath, was created for destruction. It’s a weapon that chooses its wielder based on power, not morality.”
Richard’s gaze darkened. “So, what are you saying? That I’m destined for destruction?”
“I’m saying I don’t know what this means for you,” she admitted. “For us.”
The Richard in front of me seemed different. Silence stretched between them. The weight of unspoken truths, of the bond neither of them fully understood, hung heavy in the air.
Finally, Richard sighed, lowering the sword. “Then we figure it out.” He glanced at her, his expression unreadable. “Together.”
Ahcehera’s lips parted slightly in surprise. She had expected resistance, arrogance, and perhaps even denial. But Richard, despite everything, was choosing to trust her.
“Together,” she echoed, hesitant but firm.
A sharp tremor suddenly rippled through the ground beneath them, the air around them twisting unnaturally. Ahcehera’s eyes widened. No… this can’t be happening now.
Richard immediately went on alert. “What the hell was that?”
She turned sharply towards the window, looking out over Cresencia’s lands. The sky, once a serene blue, was shifting, dark cracks forming at the edges of reality itself.
“The balance is breaking,” she murmured.
