Chapter 193: Chapter 192: What happened in the settlement 2

Nathan told what they had encountered and also answered all the questions of the kids when they asked something.

However, it was obvious that Nathan wasn’t answering their questions clearly when they were asking how they dealt with the people who were treating others as slaves.

Nathan also didn’t properly describe the situation of all the slaves they saw at the settlement.

Nathan was really good at what he was doing, and he managed to gloss over the things that he didn’t want to mention.

However, the kids were also sharp, so they didn’t continue asking about those things that Nathan didn’t want to mention.

After they rested for a while, they began preparing to continue traveling.

The villagers that came with them and the people they rescued said a lot of thanks before all of them drove back to their village.

The villagers also promised that they would patiently wait for them to come back so that they could go back with them to the north base.

After those villagers left, Treyton also ordered them to continue traveling.

When they passed by the settlement, Luciel saw several people with their hands cut off or who were beaten very badly on the roadside.

They were probably all the people that were originally the people who threatened and treated others as slaves.

They obviously have different degrees of injuries, probably because of what they did.

Treyton and the others probably treat them differently depending on what they have done to other people.

Luciel also saw a few dead people at the side.

They were probably people who were probably the former leader and his confidants or those who were strong enough to threaten others if they had recovered.

They’re probably the people who could still cause some trouble even if some of their limbs were no longer intact, so they had to be killed.

If they weren’t killed, then they would just go to other places to cause trouble, or they could cause trouble again after Treyton and the others are gone.

When they were passing by, a lot of people also came out of the settlement and thanked them repeatedly.

As Nathan said, almost all of them were obviously suffering from malnutrition.

Luciel could see that they were suffering varying degrees of malnutrition.

Those people who were too skinny were probably the people who were in the settlement very early.

Luciel could also see some people who appeared to be healthier than other people, but it was obvious that all of them weren’t in good condition at all.

In fact, those people appear to be more miserable than those who were skinnier than them.

While those skinny people were forced to work and do hard labor, those people who appeared to be healthier than them were probably those people who were forced to give themselves to others.

It was very obvious because those people were mostly women, and all of them had decent looks.

But even though they experienced a lot of bad things, it seemed that they still had the will to live, as Luciel could see that they were all grateful that they were rescued and their eyes didn’t look dead.

Well, they could probably still live a bit properly because Luciel could see that the walls they built around were actually sturdy.

However, they won’t survive for long if they continue to stay in such a settlement with a low population.

It’s also obvious that they became slaves because they didn’t have that much ability in the first place.

If they don’t have strong people, then they probably won’t survive if they are attacked by stronger zombies or from mutated animals or plants.

They already saw a swarm of rats a few days ago, so the danger all around was also increasing.

If they encountered a higher-level zombie that could lead other zombies or more intelligent mutant animals, then their settlement would be finished instantly.

The small settlements around won’t really survive after a few more months if they don’t go to larger bases with more people who they could cooperate with to protect themselves.

Treyton also probably knew about it, so he suggested that they should also go and look for larger bases where they could stay at, or they could also follow them back to the north base after they finished their mission.

The people in the settlement didn’t decide easily; they said that they would stay at the settlement first and think about what to do afterwards.

It was really obvious that they didn’t want to travel any further.

A lot of them were still probably afraid that they would still encounter the same thing even if they went to large bases.

They probably think that they might even encounter something worse, so it’s better to just stay at the settlement they were currently in.

Well, their case was indeed not special in the current world they were in now.

Just like they feared, there were probably large bases that were like the settlement they were in.

So their fear was really understandable because they weren’t strong enough to resist such a situation at all.

They also knew that traveling was very dangerous because they would encounter a lot of zombies on their way.

If their luck is so bad, then they might even die on the road before arriving at the bases that they wanted to go to.

They have enough supplies for the time being, so they don’t have any thoughts of going to other places.

Treyton also didn’t say anything further and just said that they would pass by after they finished their mission; if they decided to go with them to the north base, then they could.

After saying goodbye to the people who were saying thank you, they finally continued driving away.

They continued driving until they stopped at a place where they could stay for the night.

“What are you doing?” Luciel asked while looking at Treyton, who was writing something on the map.
