Chapter 183: Two Different Endings
When those people became more excited because of the woman’s words, Duan Yixin opened her lips and wanted to speak. However, the moment she opened her mouth, she froze in horror. Lowering her head, Duan Yixin saw blood flowing down her chin and dripping to the ground.
She looked at the red ground and saw a piece of meat lying there. After Duan Yixin saw the thing clearly, her eyes shrank. She was shaking with fear and tried to speak, but all that came out was a series of strange sounds.
“Akh! Uh..”
When Duan Yixin was in shock, the woman turned around and pointed at her. She raised her chin and said proudly, “Witch, it is time for you to pay the price for your crime! Everyone, the auspicious time has come! Light the fire!”
Hearing this, Duan Yixin couldn’t help but think of her first dream. The pain of her body being burned by the flames was still vivid in her mind. She shook her head and tried to explain that she was not a witch, but all her efforts were just a joke in front of those people. They approached her with torches in their hands and laughed maniacally as they watched her desperately try to break free from the ropes.
Just as those people lit the firewood around her, Duan Yixin heard the sound of horse hooves approaching. She looked up and saw a man in black wearing a silver mask breaking through the encirclement of those people. When her eyes met him, Duan Yixin clearly saw his emotions.
Fear, despair, anger, unwillingness, helplessness, sadness, obsession, and deep love. His complicated emotions stunned Duan Yixin and distracted her from the pain caused by the fire.
Seeing her body being engulfed in flames, the man shouted anxiously, “Let her go!”
As he rushed towards her, he killed everyone who stood in his way. When the people surrounding Duan Yixin saw this, they took a few steps back in fear, but the woman was displeased and shouted, “What are you waiting for? Stop him! If we can’t kill the Witch today, then all of us will die! If you don’t want to die, then fight!”
Following her words, those people came back to their senses. They all picked up their weapons and rushed towards the man.
“Kill him!”
“Whoever protects that witch must die!”
Seeing this, the man’s eyes flashed with madness. He raised his sword and shouted angrily, “Come! Whoever dares to hurt my Xin’er will pay with his life!”
Duan Yixin endured the pain all over her body and watched as the man’s sword and body were slowly stained red with blood. She didn’t know if it was his blood or the blood of those people. All she knew was that her heart was in pain as she watched him fight crazily for her, regardless of his safety.
Duan Yixin couldn’t bear the depression in her heart and closed her eyes. A few seconds later, she looked up at the sky and said in her heart, ‘I don’t know who he is, but please– save him. It’s enough for me to die alone.’
As soon as she finished saying these words in her heart, the sky suddenly covered with dark clouds, and darkness fell. Duan Yixin heard the roar of thunder, opened her eyes, and saw a thick thunder striking down at her. She sighed, feeling a strange sense of relief.
‘This is not bad either. If I die, he won’t have to fight anymore.’
Duan Yixin lowered her eyes and gave the man one last smile. She opened her lips and was about to speak when she suddenly remembered that someone had cut off her tongue. She sighed and said in her heart, ‘Thank you, live well.’
Boom!
The next second, she felt her body being sucked by a powerful force, and a blinding light covered her eyes. Seeing the thunder crashing on her body, the man desperately stretched out his hand to her. His eyes were red, and blood seeping from the corners of his eyes as he watched Duan Yixin’s body turn into ashes and disappear.
“No! Xin’er!”
Duan Yixin suddenly opened her eyes and gasped for air. She stared blankly at the stone ceiling while the man’s desperate crying voice still echoed in her ears. As time passed, she slowly calmed down.
She pushed herself up and sat on the cold, hard ground. A second later, Duan Yixin was surprised to find that her cheeks were stained with tears. She raised her hand to wipe her tears, then turned to look at the unconscious man lying next to her. Duan Yixin sat there and stared at him, lost in thought.
Since she came to this world, Duan Yixin has had the same dream twice. However, the two dreams have different endings. Thinking of these two endings, Duan Yixin couldn’t help but feel that something had changed. Something she didn’t understand.
Just as she was deep in thought, Liushiliu’s voice came from outside, “Miss Duan, are you alright?”
Duan Yixin came back to her senses, looked at the cave entrance, and said, “I’m fine. You can come in now.”
Upon hearing this, Lan Zhuoyu quickly entered the cave angrily. When he saw Duan Yixin’s pale face and swollen eyes, his angry words got stuck in his throat. Lan Zhuoyu looked into her eyes and found that they were swollen because she was crying.
He frowned slightly and thought, ‘Is she crying because of Wangye? Is she really that worried about him?’
Just as Lan Zhuoyu was thinking about it, Liushiliu came in. He saw Lan Zhuoyu standing near the entrance and asked, “General Lan, why are you standing here?”
Lan Zhuoyu pursed his lips and ignored Liushiliu. Seeing the two of them were soaked by the rain, Duan Yixin felt guilty. She looked at them and said, “I’m sorry for asking you two to wait outside for hours.”

Hearing this, Lan Zhuoyu snorted at Duan Yixin but said nothing. The atmosphere became more relaxed, and Liushiliu asked, “Miss Duan, how is my Master?”
