Mysterious Person (1)
Ten minutes later, Duan Yixin was lying on the straw bed wearing a new set of clothes. She took an energy bar from the warehouse and had it as her dinner. The moment she closed her eyes, she fell asleep.
Minutes after she fell asleep, a man dressed in black and wearing a black mask covering his eyes and half of his face appeared on the roof of her house. When the soles of his feet landed on the straw roof, he jumped down immediately before the roof broke.
The man stood there for a while and was relieved to see that no one noticed the sound he had just made.
He looked at Duan Yixin’s dilapidated thatched house and thought to himself, ‘How brave this young lady is to sleep in such a house. No wonder the commander wanted to investigate her. She is indeed not simple.’
After thinking about it for a few seconds, he decided to investigate the front yard and the house first.
Two minutes later, he looked into Duan Yixin’s bedroom through the open window and saw her sleeping soundly. To ensure that she would not wake up until morning, the man took out a small bamboo tube, blew the contents into the bedroom, and then carefully closed the window for her.
After checking the front yard and the house, the man went to the backyard. Seeing the herbs drying racks in the backyard, he walked over. When his eyes fell on the medicinal herbs on the drying racks, he curiously picked one and smelled it.
Smelling the herbs’ refreshing fragrance, he muttered in awe, “This plant smells so good. Its scent actually can relieve my fatigue.”
The man thought for a few seconds and took out a small leather pouch from his body. He opened the leather pouch and carefully put a few leaves of wild mint plants into it. After closing the leather pouch, he carefully put it away.
After checking the herbs drying racks one by one and collecting some samples of each medicinal herb, the man looked at the only building in the backyard. He approached the woodshed and opened the door.
Entering the small woodshed, the man paused. He curiously looked at the shelves made from wooden buckets filled with soil mixed with white pebbles.
He grabbed some soil, took out a small bamboo tube, and filled it with the mixed soil. After putting away the small bamboo tube, he turned around and saw two wooden barrels in the corner of the woodshed.
In the right corner, there is a smaller wooden barrel. The man became more curious and walked over to open the wooden barrel. He couldn’t see the color of the water clearly because the faint moonlight coming through the small window wasn’t enough to illuminate the woodshed.
He took out a flame stick and blew on it a few times. Soon, a small fire illuminated the woodshed. The man brought the flame stick close to the water’s surface and found that the barrel’s water was not ordinary but sky-blue-colored water.
Since he didn’t smell anything from the sky-blue-colored water, the man took out another small bamboo tube and filled it with this strange water. He carefully put away the bamboo tube, closed the lid of the wooden barrel, and walked to the other wooden barrel.
Looking at the larger wooden barrel, he thought for a few seconds before opening the lid. This time, he found that the water was very clean, with not even a trace of dirt in it. Thinking of all the strange and mysterious things he had discovered so far, the man decided to take a sample of the water as well.
After he checked every corner of Duan Yixin’s house, the man felt that he had taken a lot of things with him in this investigation. He turned his head and glanced at the house, then activated his lightness skill and disappeared. He had to report his findings to the commander quickly.
Early the next morning, Duan Yixin woke up before dawn. She stared at the low ceiling for a few seconds, then sat up. When she yawned, she habitually glanced at the window to check the time. Seeing that the windows were closed, the sleepiness disappeared instantly.
Because summer is very hot and there is no cooling system in this world, Duan Yixin never closes the window when sleeping. Since the window is closed, someone must have closed the door last night.
Duan Yixin approached the window and inspected it carefully. Finding no trace around the window, she opened it and looked outside. She looked down at the ground and saw that there were no footprints on the ground.
She scratched her head in confusion and muttered, “Did the wind close the window last night?”
Thinking that a strong wind might close the window, Duan Yixin sighed, “I must have been very tired yesterday.”
Putting on her new shoes, Duan Yixin went to the bathroom to wash up. Today, she plans to start growing strawberries and Chinese cabbage. The two boxes of strawberries she bought earlier were already half rotten, so she decided to take the seeds for planting instead of eating them.
After taking a shower, Duan Yixin came to the living room and took out the pot of medicinal porridge from the warehouse. She had eaten a bowl before and gave Lu Hanwen another bowl, so now there was only half a pot of porridge left. Duan Yixin looked into the pot and saw that there should be enough for two more bowls of porridge.
While Duan Yixin was eating breakfast, she used her mind to open the boxes in the warehouse and organize the items. After finishing a bowl of porridge, she looked at the unopened boxes in the warehouse and sighed. At the speed she was working, it would take a long time to open all the boxes.
When loading goods into the warehouse in her previous life, Duan Yixin and her colleagues just wanted to load as many supplies as possible.
