Chapter 89: Destined Person?
While the villagers were busy gossiping and panicking, Liang Jiaying was looking at a tall man standing in front of her in an abandoned temple not far from Chun Shan Town.
Standing in the center of the abandoned temple, the man was covered by a cloak and wearing a mask. He looked at the dirty and weathered God’s statue for a long time before saying, “You said that you could see the future.”
Liang Jiaying nodded and said, “That’s right.”
The man was silent for a while before saying, “Two days ago, you said he would die of the plague. But why do my spies say he is still alive and well today?”
Liang Jiaying couldn’t help but tremble when she heard the man’s cold voice.
She clenched her hands tightly to prevent herself from shaking and said calmly, “Are you doubting me? I have given you a lot of information to prove my ability to predict the future. What’s more, you are my destined person. I will not lie to you. Since I have chosen you, I will help and support you to achieve what you want.”
After hearing her words, the man chuckled lightly, but his eyes were very cold as he stared at God’s statue. He clenched his hands, which were covered by the cloak, and thought, ‘Destined person? If there is no God in this world, how can there be destiny?’
After a long silence, he said coldly, “Tell me about the war in the north.”
Liang Jiaying tried hard to recall the plot in the book and said, “The Xiong Nu will definitely defeat the Jin Yi Army, and the whole army will be annihilated.”
“What about Xuan Ruiquan?” He asked again.
Liang Jiaying’s heart skipped a beat when she heard the name. Unlike how she felt about the man in front of her and Tang Zizheng, she was actually very afraid of Xuan Ruiquan. In this world, the only one who could kill the male protagonist and the female protagonist was Xuan Ruiquan.
At first, Liang Jiaying was torn between choosing Xuan Ruiquan or the man in front of her. But in the end, she chose this man because he was the male protagonist while she possessed the female protagonist’s body. As a female protagonist, it is impossible for her to have a happy ending with the biggest villain in the story.
Now that she has made her choice, Liang Jiaying clenched her hands and said, “He will be seriously injured, disappear for several months, and then return to the imperial capital city with his legs crippled.”
After hearing her answer, the man didn’t speak for a long time. Just when Liang Jiaying thought he wouldn’t say anything, the man’s cold voice came, “You’d better pray that your prediction is right. Otherwise, when I find out you are lying to me, I will make sure your greatest wish is to die under my sword.”
After saying that, the man disappeared, leaving Liang Jiaying frozen in place, covered by cold sweat. After a long time, Liang Jiaying fell to the ground weakly, trembling all over, and muttering in horror, “I should choose Xuan Ruiquan instead of this crazy male protagonist.”
Liang Jiaying stayed there for a while until she regained her strength, then stood up and returned to Yunshan Village. A few hours later, Duan Yixin woke up. She lay on the bed for a while before sitting up. Looking out of the small window, she saw that the sun was still shining brightly outside.
Duan Yixin sat for more than five minutes on the bed before putting on her shoes and leaving the bedroom. When she walked out of the house, Liushiliu suddenly appeared in front of her.
He stood in front of her and observed her for a few seconds. When Liushiliu saw that Duan Yixin’s complexion looked better than before, he breathed a sigh of relief and asked, “Miss Duan, do you feel better now?”
Duan Yixin nodded and said, “Yes, I feel much better. You can wait here while I go and prepare lunch.”
Although she looked better than before, Liushiliu knew that Duan Yixin’s body had not yet fully recovered. He shook his head and said, “Miss Duan, you should rest today. I will prepare today’s meal.”
Duan Yixin thought for a moment, nodded, and said, “Then I will go to the backyard to make the cold ointment. If you need anything, just call me.”
Liushiliu nodded and watched her walk to the backyard. When Duan Yixin walked out from the back door, he activated his lightness skill and then headed toward the forest. Ten minutes later, Liushiliu stood on top of an ancient tree in the middle of the forest. He looked up at the bright sky and whistled.
“Pwi~!”
The high-pitched, long whistle echoed in the silent forest for a while, startling the birds and small animals. When the frightened birds flapped their wings and flew away, Liushiliu saw a black raven approaching from a distance. He raised his left arm and waited for the black raven to land.
Soon, the black raven landed lightly on his left arm and made a cooing sound. Liushiliu gently rubbed the black raven’s head, letting it nestle in his palm. After a while, the black raven stretched out its left leg toward Liushiliu.
Liushiliu then took out the small bamboo tube containing the urgent news, put it into the small leather bag tied to the black raven’s leg, and said, “Please give this to Master. This matter is very urgent.”
The black raven cooed again, indicating that it understood the order. Liushiliu touched its head lovingly and said, “Go. Be careful of enemy interceptions.”
The black raven looked at him for a moment, then flapped its wings and flew away. Liushiliu watched the black raven fly away and turn into a small black dot on the distant horizon before he disappeared from the top of the ancient tree. While Duan Yixin and Liushiliu were busy with their work, many people gathered in the Duan family’s ancestral hall.
