Chapter 172: Chapter 172:Aftermath [2]
Chuckling at his question, I disrupted our eye contact and looked at the window above us, which had cracked from Liam, and my arrows had crashed into the wall.
Looking at the beautiful scenery of the plain outside, with the moon illuminating a small lake before us, I smiled.
Shrugging my shoulders, I responded.
“Someone had to do it. It was the only way out, and he didn’t even die, did he?”
Of course, I knew what I was saying was stupid.
Yeah, he just almost died because of me, so everything is ok and alright! No need to worry or get angry because he’s alive in the end!
Taking my bait, Liam’s eyes shined an even darker blue, matching the color of the mana inside my body.
Looking at the two daggers in my hand, Liam questioned further.
“…you’re terrible. At first, I thought you were just some stupid, obsessed maniac… but this is much worse. Do you just see the people around as pawns who can be disposed of at any time of your choosing?”
Raising his voice so that the entire carriage could hear our conversation, Liam lashed out, struggling against my head on his head.
“Do you believe you’re some god that gets to choose who dies and who lives? How can you look at someone like Zach and genuinely believe it’s ok…to sacrifice them? It’s like… you don’t even see others as humans.”
Continuing to look out the window as the carriage moved, I didn’t interrupt Liam and continued listening to him rant on.
Stopping his struggle, Liam continued in a dark tone.
“Your sarcastic and joking way of speaking… at first, I thought it was just because you were a dumbass.”
“But… you’re just a psycho. You talk sarcastically because you don’t see the people you’re talking to as real people… just things to pass the time.”
“You can’t talk seriously or discuss earnestly because you don’t seriously see the people around you as humans.”
Looking at my head, which was outside the window, Liam continued.
“Even now, as I’m speaking to you, you continued staring out the window, ignoring everything I said. A normal person would react in some way, whether it’s getting angry or sad… but you just don’t listen.”
“It’s like… like I’m not even a person in your eyes. Just an object that you can use and take from.”
Sighing as I continued staring out the window, I finally raised my hand, but before I could talk, Liam once again said.
“See, a normal person would have just told me that I have no right to tell you who you are… but you simply ignored me as if my words are worth dogshit.”
Through a remaining glass piece from the broken window, I could see Kevin slowly getting up with his sword in hand.
Also seeing the large figures of the buses in the distance, I replied in an emotionless tone, matching Liam’s profile of me.
“Would you rather have died or been stuck in that loop forever? Deep down in your heart, you must know that if I hadn’t done that, we would still be that in that forest.”
Looking down at Liam and meeting his eyes, I continued.
“You must be truly delusional if you haven’t realized by now that I’m the reason for our escape. Without me, all seven of you would be wandering around aimlessly with no way of escaping.”
Not flinching at my words, Liam continued staring into my eyes before looking at his sword below Irene and Ruby.
Letting out a small chuckle, Liam hesitated before replying.
“You think you’re one to talk about being honest? You seem to know me quite well from the way you recognized all my attacks without even flinching.”
Well, I hadn’t at all tried to hide it, so it wasn’t surprising.

For me to have predicted his Sky Plunge and how his Ravage Rush ability was used was too much of a coincidence.
Seeing me not deny his claim of me knowing him well, Liam chuckled again before continuing.
“Then you know I don’t really give a shit if you were the one to let us escape the loop.”
“For all I care, I could have died in there and been fine, simply knowing that everyone around me was fine.”
Raising his head and meeting my eyes, Liam matched my smile and replied.
“That would have been a better scenario than seeing my friend almost die…without not even being able to intervene or help… just sitting there and watching.”
Wiping the smile off my face, I took a glance at the remaining glass shards on the window before sighing.
Standing up and releasing my hand from Liam’s head, I replied in a monotone voice.
“Look, you can die if you want; I could honestly care less…but don’t drag me in your ridiculous masochistic fantasies.”
Picking up the four arrows from Liam’s shirt and setting him free, I jumped on the windowsill before taking one last glance.
Irene’s face was twisted as if she was sad to see the fight end, while Ruby wore an expression that I couldn’t decipher.
Something in the middle of being intrigued and sullen is all I could say.
Alya and Lily wore grim expressions, and Kevin seemed to be angry as he still charged at me, knowing that his sword slash would never hit.
Lily seemed to know I wasn’t going to do anything drastic as her wand was resting on her lap.
Alya held her ice-blue sword in her right hand, but her body was still trembling, so even if she fired at me, her attacks would most likely miss.
Liam was still shirtless and slumped against the carriage wall with a defeated expression despite knowing he could get up at any moment.
And finally, Zach was still sleeping, using my seat as a pillow for his head.
Turning back around, I jumped out of the carriage window… and right onto the roof of the carriage.
