Chapter 136: Aurora’s Anger
Olivia leaned back into her seat with a self-assured smirk, elegantly crossing one leg over the other. Her tone was casual, but her words were laced with intrigue.
“My mother has been meticulously working toward a connection with Major Walker since discovering his identity. And today,” she paused, relishing the moment, “he finally invited her to his private residence to meet the rest of his family.”
Aurora’s fingers tightened slightly around her teacup as she maintained her composed demeanour. “Mrs. Swift is impressively patient,” she commented with a faint smile. “I like that quality.”
Olivia chuckled lightly, her lips curling in agreement. “Sometimes, I admire her for it too. Patience is not my strongest suit. I can’t imagine working toward something for so long and waiting to reap the benefits.”
Aurora chuckled softly, her laughter fading into a thoughtful hum. Taking a delicate sip from her tea, she let a moment of silence stretch before posing her question.
“So, Olivia,” she began, her voice curious yet cautious, “surely you’re not planning to share this information with Aurora herself. What exactly do you and your mother intend to gain from Major Walker’s connections? Do you intend to pose as his daughter?”
Olivia hesitated briefly before exhaling and leaning slightly forward, her smile unwavering. “Pose as his daughter? That would be bold, but also foolish. A strategist like the Major isn’t easily deceived.” She laughed, waving the thought away. “No, we’re not that reckless. All we need is his influence—to secure our position and climb higher.”
Aurora nodded slowly, her expression calm, though her mind churned with thoughts. She now knew not only her biological father’s identity but also the mother and daughter’s scheming intentions. Her resolve tightened as she masked her emotions behind a small, polite smile.
Satisfied that she had impressed Mrs. Scott with her revelations, Olivia tilted her head curiously. “And you, Mrs. Scott? What do you plan to do now?”
Aurora set her teacup aside and mirrored Olivia’s calm demeanour. “I will need a bit of time to ensure this information is used effectively. Your efforts won’t be wasted,” she assured her with a gracious smile. “Thank you for sharing it with me. Let’s meet again when my schedule allows. And if you need anything, contact my secretary, Nene—she represents me fully.”
Though the statement was meant as a subtle dismissal, Olivia couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment. Despite their hours together, Aurora had still not given her personal contact information. However, Olivia forced a bright smile. “Of course, Mrs. Scott. Thank you.”
Just then, Olivia’s face lit up as another idea struck her. She retrieved her phone from her purse with an eager expression. “Would you mind taking a few photos with me before I leave?”
Aurora’s brows lifted briefly, but she nodded. “Of course.”
Olivia practically skipped over to Aurora’s side, positioning herself for a selfie. She snapped two shots in quick succession and glanced at the photos with a satisfied grin before showing them to Aurora. “They turned out beautifully, don’t you think?”
Aurora glanced briefly at the photos and replied with a practised smile. “They look great. Feel free to post them, but blur my face first.”
Olivia’s enthusiasm didn’t waver as she quickly agreed. “Anything you ask, Mrs. Scott!”
—
Aurora and Nene accompanied Olivia to the main entrance when it was time for her to leave. Olivia’s smile was radiant as she expressed her gratitude repeatedly. “Thank you so much for inviting me over, Mrs. Scott. This evening was unforgettable.”
As the sleek Rolls-Royce pulled away with Olivia inside, Aurora’s smile faded like a passing shadow. Her jaw clenched, and her hands balled into fists at her sides, her thoughts a whirlwind of suppressed emotion.
She didn’t notice Xander’s car pulling into the driveway until Liam stepped out and opened the back door. When Xander emerged, his brows furrowed slightly as his piercing gaze locked onto her.
“Sweetheart,” he called softly, concern evident in his tone as he strode toward her.
Aurora forced a small smile. “Welcome back,” she greeted, her voice quieter than usual.
Xander stopped in front of her, his hand gently cradling her cheek as his eyes searched hers. The sadness he saw there made his jaw tighten. He shifted his gaze to Nene, who stood a step behind Aurora.
“Was that Olivia Swift who just left?” he asked, his voice calm but probing.
“Yes, Mr. Scott,” Nene confirmed with a polite nod.
Xander exhaled heavily, his focus returning to Aurora. He sensed the weight of what had happened and suspected the worst. “Did you find out?”
Aurora’s lashes fluttered briefly before she met his gaze. “Yes,” she whispered. “Olivia told me everything. My biological father is Major Walker.”
Xander froze, his eyes widening in shock. “What?”
Aurora’s chest rose and fell with the force of her emotions. Her voice trembled as she continued, “Do you know why my father died? He wanted to tell me the truth about my biological father. Stella killed him for it. He died protecting me!”

Her voice cracked as tears streamed down her cheeks. Before Xander could respond, Aurora turned abruptly and stormed into the house.
“Sweetheart!” Xander called, quickly following her. He found her in their bedroom, pacing like a storm, her fists clenched tightly.
“How could I have been so ignorant?” Aurora demanded, her voice filled with anguish. “They treated me like trash, schemed behind my back—and I let them! Because of my stupid morals”
She grabbed the lamp from the nightstand and hurled it to the floor, the shattering sound echoing through the room.
“Aurora!” Xander exclaimed, rushing forward. He avoided the shards of glass as he reached for her, gripping her arms gently. “Sweetheart, calm down. Aurora, being morally upright is not a weakness. It’s your strength. Never compromise it, even in the name of revenge,” he said, his voice firm but soothing.
Aurora’s chest heaved as she looked at him, her eyes blazing with anger and hurt. “You are preaching about morals, Xander,” she said bitterly. “Tell me, do you stick to them during your secret missions?”
