Chapter 138: Her Own Little Secret
Never in a million years did Olivia ever think that Owen would suggest that her child didn’t belong to him.
Though she didn’t expect much from him since he didn’t love her anymore and the feeling was mutual on her side, slandering her and questioning her dignity was unexpected and uncalled for.
“Have you finally lost your mind, Owen?” Olivia barked, her voice trembling as anger shimmered in her eyes.
Owen spread his arms out with a care in the world and said, “Maybe, I have since lost my mind since the thought of sharing the same space as you and breathing the same air is now threatening my life.”
“You treacherous bastard!” Olivia cursed, fuming in rage as her chest rose and fell rapidly. She was so mad that if given a gun, she wouldn’t hesitate to shoot Owen down immediately.
Owen clapped his hands with a sly grin on his lips. “Thank you for the compliments. I will see you tomorrow morning.” Then without a word of explanation, he stormed out of the bedroom, leaving Olivia to seethe in her rage.
A breath got caught in Olivia’s throat as her weight sank into the edge of the bed. She gripped the sheets with her fingers as her gaze strayed towards the door Owen had shut with a loud thud.
It took a while for Olivia to calm her raging emotions as it wasn’t an easy fit. Owen’s words hard cut her deep and left her shattered.
She wasn’t like him as she had never cheated on him with anyone, so how dare he accuse her of carrying someone else’s child? No faithful woman or wife would ever tolerate what Owen said.
Olivia quickly reached out to wipe the tears that had streamed down her cheeks before picking up her phone, her thoughts, in disarray.
Contrary to her emotional pain, she went through her phone’s gallery and selected three pictures that she had clicked earlier that evening before posting them on her Instagram page, with an eye-catching caption below.
The first slide showed Olivia in the Rolls-Royce enjoying a glass of champagne. The second slide showed her sitting outdoors in front of the table with sumptuous dishes spread across it. Lastly, there was the selfie she took with Mrs. Scott.
She blurred her face as instructed before posting the caption, “Thank you for inviting me to your home and treating me like a queen, Mrs. Scott. I am truly honoured. Cheers to many more years of friendship. #AGrandEveningWithMrsScott.”
After posting, Olivia went through her caption a few times satisfactorily before keeping her phone aside.
The next morning, Olivia woke up feeling nauseous and rushed to the bathroom to throw up. It took a few minutes before she finished and went to the sink to brush her teeth and wash her face. When she was done, she stared at herself through the mirror for a moment before pulling the shelf below open.
She grabbed the bottle of pills hidden under the folded towels and opened it to take out two capsules from it. Next, she popped them in her mouth and swallowed them down with a glass of water.
“Of what use is having you when your father doesn’t want you?” she muttered under her breath, her eyes never leaving the mirror as the scene from Owen’s insinuation last night, came flooding back into her memory.
Just a few seconds later, Olivia’s thoughts were broken by the ringing sound of her phone and she left for the bedroom to take the incoming call.
“Good morning, Mum,” Olivia greeted, her voice lacking enthusiasm.
“Good morning, daughter. I believe you had a wonderful night, right?” Stella’s rich voice inquired, and not waiting for Olivia’s response, she continued, “Why didn’t you tell me you were going to see Mrs. Scott yesterday? And how did you manage to get into her good books so quickly that she would invite you over to her private residence?”
Olivia smiled smugly as she folded one arm below her chest and plopped herself down on the couch. “Mum, you are asking a lot of questions which I won’t be giving answers to since they are my own little secrets.”
“I see…” Stella drawled. “So, you are going to start keeping secrets from your mother?” she asked in a deliberately low tone that suggested her disappointment and hurt.
“Correct,” Olivia admitted without wasting a second. “Do you have any problems with that, mother?”
Stella shook her head, releasing a small sigh. “Go ahead and do as you please, just as long as you don’t ruin our plans.” Though she was curious to know her daughter’s method in winning Mrs. Scott over, she was still proud of her. At least she could accomplish her goals without her help.
“How is my grandchild doing? You should come home one of these days,” Stella added.
As soon as the conversation with her mother ended, Olivia opened her Instagram page to check the number of comments and likes she had gotten from her last post and to her surprise, the numbers were alarming.
It was surprising to see how much interest people had in Mrs. Scott who has never shown her face in public. And a good number of people in Olivia’s comment section wanted to know what she looked like.
“Mrs. Scott invited you to her private residence??? Wow! Congratulations!”
“Are you and Mrs. Scott close? How did you manage to snag that invitation?”

“Olivia, show us what Mrs. Scott looks like!”
“What an honour it is to be a friend to Mrs. Scott!”
“Seems like Mrs. Scott did treat you well. Tell us your secret, Olivia. We want to meet Mrs. Scott as well.
A proud smile lit up on Olivia’s face as she read some of the comments under her latest post. She enjoyed every bit of it even though there were a few negative comments that irked her. But more important than the random comments from others, were the messages from her eager friends asking all the questions there was to Mrs. Scott.
They wanted to know how everything happened and begged for the full gist which Olivia was withholding.
“This is something none of you can ever have,” Olivia mumbled to herself as she closed her Instagram page and opened her gallery to check the selfies she clicked with Mrs. Scott only to see they were gone.
Her eyes grew wide as she leaned back in shock, her fingers hovering over her phone screen. “What the… Where did they go to?” she wondered as she quickly swiped through her recent photos in search for the pictures, but never found them.
“D-Did I accidentally delete them or what?” she thought to herself as her face clouded with anger and disappointment.
