Chapter 140: Aurora Returns to Work
Stephanie watched Aurora for a moment and said, “I know you must be mad at your father for keeping silent over this matter. Even I was mad at him but chose to respect his wishes in the end.” Pausing for a moment to catch her breath, she added, “I think you should do that as well.”
“Do I have a choice?” Aurora spread her arms out in total defeat. If her father refused to judge Stella while he was alive, who was she?
She believed she didn’t have that right and was expected to leave at like that.
On the other hand, Stella spoke her mind. “I don’t plan to let Stella off over this matter. If my brother gave up because he was too tired to fight, I’m not. But he can be rest assured that his Will would remain standing.”
In another sense, Stephanie is going to confront Stella later about her betrayal, but that doesn’t mean she will prevent her from receiving Adam’s last privileges.
Meanwhile, Aurora had no qualms with whatever her Aunt would do with that piece of information. She also didn’t care as she was no longer the innocent peaceful woman from the past.
Also, it’s not like she doesn’t plan to use this information to her own benefit. Now that she knows Olivia isn’t their father’s biological daughter either, she is going to kill every atom of guilt she used to have and face her squarely.
Soon, Stephanie picked up her bag to leave. “See you on Monday with your Doctor’s report,” she said to Aurora before getting into her car.
As Aurora watched the car drive off, a deep sigh of relief escaped her lips. It was time to start playing games with a new perspective and dimension.
When Xander returned home from a meeting, Aurora revealed the bomb Stephanie had dropped on her. There wasn’t even a hint of surprise on Xander’s face after that.
“Sweetheart, I think you should at this point expect anything from your stepmother. She is capable of doing the unthinkable.”
Aurora observed Xander’s surprisingly calm posture and didn’t know what to say. She thought his mindset was so different probably because of his military training.
“So, what are we going to do because I can’t leave this woman alone?” Aurora asked, batting her lashes as she folded her arms below her chest.
“What do you want to be done to her?” Xander inquired, holding her annoyed gaze. “If you want her dead, I can easily put a bullet through her head and she would be gone forever,” he suggested.
Aurora eyed him warily. “Xander, can you stop talking about killing people the uncouth way? What will you tell your son or your daughter that you do?”
As soon as Xander heard her talking about their kids, he stepped forward with an ever-growing smirk on his lips. Next, he placed a palm on her belly and said, “I would tell them the truth; their father was trained to serve justice. With that said, when are we having a baby?”
Aurora scoffed and slapped his arm away. “I’m returning to work on Monday and I need my doctor’s report, to clear me up.”
“Sweetheart, I am your doctor,” Xander said, lifting a brow. “And you are not completely fit to return to work. Remember, your head was opened a few weeks ago and the aftermath of that surgery still follows you. And as your doctor, I suggest…”
“Darling, I won’t compromise this. Let’s run some tests now to see how fit I am,” Aurora suggested without mincing words.
Even if she hadn’t recovered fully before her Aunt visited, she was completely healed now after learning that ugly truth.

On Monday, Aurora returned to work with a completely different vibe. As soon as she walked into the company, she took the elevator straight to her new office which had been cleaned and tidied before going to Stephanie’s office to submit her doctor’s report.
“I still didn’t think you would be able to make it,” Stephanie said, peeping from her reading glasses as she received her doctor’s report.
“Fortunately, I’m determined,” Aurora stated then leaning on her desk, she asked, “Can I leave?”
“Not so fast.” Stephanie returned her gaze to the medical report. She only released Aurora when she saw the doctor’s written statement, stating she was fit to return.
The minute Aurora returned to her office, she phoned Lilian and asked her to come up to her floor., but just as she set the phone down, a soft knock sounded on her door and thinking it was someone reasonable, she offered her approval.
“Ah! Look who we have here.” Olivia smiled as she walked in, her baby bump slightly protruding from the body-fit black dress she wore. “The highly esteemed COO is back.”
As Aurora’s gaze followed Olivia, the only thing she could think about was pity. Yes, Aurora pitied Olivia for always bragging that Adam was her father alone and she (Aurora) was the outsider who came to drag her father’s properties with her but with this truth, Aurora wondered how Olivia would feel when she found out the truth because she doubted that she knew of it.
“And how may I be of help?” Aurora asked, watching as she pulled out a chair in front of her desk and sat down.

“I just came to find out the new idea you brought from France,” Olivia said with an ever-growing smirk on her lips. “I’m sure you came up with another spectacular idea like your Fruit Punch Champagne.”
Aurora stared at Olivia like she had lost her mind. The last thing she would ever believe right now was Olivia being interested in her ideas. Given that smirk on her lips, it was obvious that she had come to see her especially to gloat about something.
“Olivia drop that act and tell me why you are here because I would rather believe you came to make trouble than you coming to check up on my ideas. So, what is it?” Aurora asked, clasping her fingers together.
