Chapter 141: A Matchmaker
“You must really think of me as a troublemaker, But I can’t help if you think so.” Oliver chuckled softly, her eyes glistening with little tears. “Actually, I have a piece of advice I think you might need.”
Aurora shook her head, refusing to listen to her. “Just go back to your office and keep your advice to yourself.”
“No. It’s important that you hear me out,” Olivia smiled. Leaning out of her seat, she dropped her elbows on the table. “I know you plan to use Mr. Scott to promote your new wine just like you did with your champagne, but here is a piece of advice for you. Don’t even think about it.”
Aurora scoffed. “Who are you to tell me what to do?” she asked, eyeing her sceptically.
“As someone who has now become Mrs. Scott’s friend,” Olivia stated proudly and went on to explain, “I’m quite sure you don’t know what Xander Scott’s residence looks like, but a few days ago, his wife personally invited me. She sent a car to pick me up and send me home. We are literally friends now, so just be careful of what you do with her husband behind her back. Who knows, you might be taught a lesson.”
“And I will be waiting to be taught a lesson,” Aurora said with a straight face as she pointed towards the door. “Make use of it right now before I call the security on you.”
Olivia helped herself out of the seat as her lips curled up in a smug smile. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you, Sister.”
After Olivia left, Aurora relaxed in her seat and heaved a sigh. With her gaze on the door, she mumbled, “I wonder how you would react when you find out that I am actually Mrs. Scott, your new friend.”
Aurora had no doubts that Olivia would faint once she found out, but she would only feel better if she could see that moment with her eyes or get on record.
A few minutes later, Lilian knocked on Aurora’s door and worked in.
“We are happy to have you back, Director Swift,” Lilian offered a polite nod with a small smile on her lips.
“Thank you, Lilian. Please have a seat,” Aurora gestured towards the chair in front of her desk and as soon as Lilian settled down, she asked, her brows lifting with curiosity, “What happened while I was away?”

At the same time, as Xander just finished a meeting and stepped out of the conference room, Liam quickly came to his side with his phone in hand.
“Sir, Mr. Moore is on the line,” he announced politely and immediately, he handed the phone to Xander who took over it and placed it on his ear.
“Hello, Asher,” Xander’s deep voice greeted, his shoes clicking hard against the tiles as his steps quickened.
“I looked into Stella Swift as you requested, and this is what I found out about her relationship with the Major… She really did save his son but from the real situation, she was looking for the opportunity to get close to him…”
As Asher filled Xander in, the latter hummed in a few times where it was required of him to make a sound just to show he was still paying attention to the conversation. And within a minute, he got into the elevator and shoved his other hand into his pants pocket.
“One thing about Stella is that she is both desperate and patient for an opportunity. She really deserves an award,” Xander said as Liam got in next to him and pressed their floor button as the elevator doors shut.
“Lex, as I said before, the Major definitely knows her intentions but what he stands to gain from this is something we still have to find out,” Asher said from the other end. “I won’t be surprised if he knows your wife is actually his biological daughter.”
“He knows,” Xander revealed just as the elevator doors opened. “And it’s very obvious after sitting to think about the entire situation.”
Asher let a deep breath into the phone and took a moment before asking, “Are you going to let your wife know about this?”
“Definitely not,” Xander replied almost immediately, his brows slightly furrowed. “I don’t want to break her heart. I will let her find out by herself.”
Aurora would definitely not take it lying down if she found out that her biological father knew who she was all along and acted otherwise. She would definitely confront him and no matter what his reasons were, it wouldn’t end on a good note.
“Whatever you want,” Asher breathed. “Just in case, I put a tail on Stella. We should be able to keep an eye on her for a while.”
“Thank you.” Xander was appreciative and supportive of the move. And just as he turned into a corner, he quickly added, “I will arrange the dinner you requested and give you a call.”
—
Aurora and Xander had dinner together after returning home from work, and as they chatted about their day, Xander made a suggestion.
“What do you think about hosting our friends, Abigail and Asher this weekend? I think it would be a good opportunity to relax and catch up with them over the weekend.”

“That doesn’t sound like a bad idea, but I thought you didn’t like having people over at your place,” Aurora said, grabbing a glass of water from the table with her eyes on him.
Xander shrugged with a smile. “There could be an exception sometimes.”
“You are not thinking of bringing those two together, right?” Aurora inquired with a scrutinizing gaze on him as if trying to depict if he would be telling a lie or the truth.
Xander’s lips twitched as he recalled Asher refraining him from asking questions about his intentions. In the end, he thought it safe to be completely oblivious to the entire matter in order not to get into trouble with his wife.
“Sweetheart, I’m not a matchmaker,” Xander stated with finality.
