Chapter 145: Stella was Deceived

“Tell me everything you know about Major Walker and his family,” Aurora requested, pinning her gaze on him.

Xander nodded as his brain quickly calculated the amount of information he had to share.

“Actually, the Major has two sons with his wife,” Xander revealed. “One is in the military and partakes in the secret missions, but I have never met him. The second one hasn’t been seen in a long time. I doubt he’s still in Wing City.”

As soon as Aurora got that information, her gaze narrowed. “So, all the Major’s children are living in private?” If she included herself even though she hated to see herself as such, her deductions weren’t far from the truth.

Even Xander, a secret service agent, doesn’t know what the Major’s first son, who is in the same agency as him, looks like. That speaks volumes.

“You can say that,” Xander admitted, dropping more surprising details. “The Major doesn’t live with his wife and has no private residence in Wing City currently.”

“You have been to his place?” Aurora probed, raising a questioning brow.

Xander nodded and set to explain. “Yes. Asher and I. Just a few times. He lives in the military base.”

“What of his wife? Why are they not living together? Are they divorced?” Aurora asked with curiosity laced in her tone. She has been asking a lot of questions since Xander appeared and has forgotten about the food spread across the table in front of her.

Getting the important private information she couldn’t see on the internet about the Major was more important than filling her belly.

On the other hand, Xander wasn’t for a second bothered by her questions. Although this was a piece of private information she was asking about which he had happened to come across thanks to his secret job, he couldn’t hold back telling her the truth. This was her biological father in question.

“They are not divorced. His wife works with a United Nations agency; WHO. She travels a lot, so they live separately,” Xander clarified.

Aurora slowly nodded at that revelation. Apart from Xander, she has seen first-hand, another very private person in Wing City. All the information she just got about him is not on the internet.

The internet only focused on Major Walker’s life and achievements in the Military while subtly mentioning that he was married to a woman from the upper class whose family has a great footing in Wing City and beyond.

Meanwhile, it has turned out that Stella Swift was deceived according to the information Xander passed down to Aurora.

The private residence she thought belonged to Major Walker and his wife that she met were all fake.

Just like Asher had speculated from the beginning, the Major wasn’t the one being used rather, it was Stella. But as for the reason behind it, they would have to either wait for the truth to come out, or find it out by themselves.

Later at night, Aurora discovered that she hadn’t informed Abigail about the weekend get-together and jumped off Xander.

“Where are you going?” Xander asked as he quickly sat up on the bed and watched Aurora reach for her phone on the nightstand.

“I’m coming… I-I um… I forgot to tell Abby about the invitation this weekend,” Aurora replied distractedly as her fingers swiped across her phone screen.

“Sweetheart, you can do that in the morning. Come back to me,” Xander said as he tried to convince her. He was already unhappy that she had to leave him after arousing him and now, he missed the feeling of her sitting on his thighs.

Aurora, unaware of the frustrating state she had left him in, refused to go back to him. “It will only take a minute,” she said with her eyes glued to her phone.”

Xander let out an exasperated sigh and laid back on the bed.

On the other hand, Aurora’s eyes shone brightly as she opened Abigail’s DM and saw a photo of her Fruit Punch Champagne from a digital screen in the heart of Wing City.

“This must be what success feels like,” she mumbled to herself as she quickly typed ‘Thank You’ and sent it to Abigail before showing off the ad to Xander. “Darling, look what we have here. I wasn’t notified that my product was being advertised in this manner.”

“Congratulations.” A smile naturally appeared on Xander’s lips. He was proud of his wife’s success. He spread his arms out and beckoned on her to come in for a hug.

With her phone in hand, Aurora moved in to embrace him and ended up receiving lots of smooching. As her giggles rang in their ears, her phone’s ringing tone set off.

“Wait a second. It’s Abigail,” Aurora informed as she leaned away from his embrace happily.

A frustrated groan escaped Xander’s lips as he watched Aurora take the call.

“Hello, Abby!” Aurora greeted excitedly as she adjusted her sitting position on the bed, her attention completely grabbed by the phone conversation.

“Aura! You finally came online after two days. How have you been?” Abigail inquired, her tone laced with equal excitement.

The two women exchanged very warm pleasantries and quickly caught up with their lives. Abigail mentioned an actor who asked her out in her DM a few days ago and Aurora’s eyes glowed.

“Who is he? Did you accept his proposal?”

“Aura, calm down,” Abigail said with a smile lingering on her lips. “You don’t watch movies, so you wouldn’t know him, but yes, I accepted his proposal.”

Hearing that, Aurora giggled. “I’m so happy for you, Abby. You haven’t been interested in relationships for the longest time.”

“Don’t be too happy,” Abigail said, cutting her joy off. “I don’t love him and he knows that.”

“So, why did you accept him?” Aurora inquired as the smile on her face quickly disappeared. Her brows furrowed in confusion.

Having known Abigail for years, deceiving men wasn’t a part of her character trait, so she was genuinely curious to know what her best friend was up to.

“It’s for an experiment,” Abigail revealed and almost immediately the line went silent.
