Chapter 151: She Wants A Divorce
Aurora descended the staircase alongside Xander, her light steps contrasting with the tension that built the moment Nene met them at the bottom. The usual warmth in Nene’s expression was replaced by a slight grimness as she bowed politely.
“Ma’am,” Nene began cautiously, “Tea Time Gossip has published a scandal involving Mr. Owen and Mrs. Olivia. And it’s serious this time.”
Aurora’s brows knitted together as she halted mid-step. “What happened?”
Nene hesitated before handing over a tablet. “It seems Mrs. Olivia has lost her child following an altercation with Mr. Owen at a nightclub.”
The words struck like a bolt. Aurora’s hand flew to her mouth in shock. “She lost her baby?”
Hearing this, Xander stepped forward, his jaw tightening. “What commotion? What nightclub?” His voice was low but simmering with restrained anger.
As Nene detailed the contents of the article, Liam appeared from the hallway, his expression sombre as he approached them. “Sir,” he said, bowing slightly, “the news is spreading fast. The company stocks are plummeting because of the scandal.”
Xander’s anger boiled over, his fingers balling into fists. His nephew’s reckless actions had crossed a line yet again. Aurora placed a soothing hand on his arm and patted it gently. “Darling, please calm down,” she urged softly.
Xander exhaled heavily, forcing himself to relax. Handing the tablet back to Nene, he turned to Liam. “Wait for me in the study,” he ordered curtly before glancing at Aurora. “I will be back.”
Aurora nodded silently, watching him disappear down the hall with Liam.
—
Aurora walked into the dining area and found Abigail and Asher already seated. Their lighthearted bickering filled the space until their eyes fell on her troubled expression. Abigail immediately sat upright.
“Aura, what’s wrong?” Abigail asked, her playful demeanour fading into concern.
Aurora slid into her seat and clasped her hands together on the table. “It’s about Olivia. She caught Owen at a nightclub with his mistress. They argued, and in the middle of it, she fell and miscarried.”
Abigail’s brows arched, but instead of sympathy, her face hardened. “Karma finally caught up with her,” she said without a shred of pity. “Look what the man she snatched from you did to her in the end.”
Aurora sighed. “Abby, I have no comment on that. An innocent child didn’t deserve to be sacrificed for her mistakes.”
Asher leaned forward, picking up his coffee. “Where’s Xander?”
Aurora glanced toward the hallway. “Liam came to inform him about the stocks dropping because of Owen’s scandal. He’s handling it.”
“I think this might be the final straw,” Asher said with a measured tone, setting his cup down. “Xander might cut his nephew off for good this time.”
—
Xander joined them toward the end of breakfast. His neutral expression barely masked the tension simmering beneath. Abigail and Asher greeted him with a polite “Good morning,” to which he responded curtly.
Aurora, seated beside him, reached out instinctively. “How did it go with Liam?”
“Unfortunately, things aren’t easily fixed this time,” he said, his tone sharp. “A drastic measure needs to be taken.” Looking at everyone, he added, “I might be tied up with work for most of the day.”
“That’s all right,” Asher said, clasping his hands. “Your company is important. Take care of what you need to.”
—
After breakfast, Xander retreated to his study where Liam waited with updates. Xander sat behind his desk, his piercing gaze scanning the tablet Liam handed him. The numbers confirmed his worst fears—the company stocks were nosediving.
Placing the tablet on the desk, Xander clenched his fists tightly. “This is unacceptable.”
Liam remained silent as Xander picked up his phone and dialled his older brother, Richard. The call went unanswered. His patience thinning, Xander reached for the landline.
The butler at the Scott family’s main residence answered. “Good morning, Mr. Scott.”

“Where is my brother?” Xander demanded.
The butler hesitated before replying, “Mr. Richard and Mrs. Patricia left for the police station early this morning. Mr. Owen was arrested last night for assault and domestic violence.”
Xander’s face darkened. “Thank you.” He hung up abruptly, deep in thought before declaring to Liam, “It seems I will have to pay them a visit myself.”

At the hospital, Stephanie arrived to see Olivia in a VIP suite. Stella sat nearby, slicing an apple into delicate pieces. Olivia, pale and weak, struggled to sit up.
Stephanie began cautiously. “Olivia, how are you feeling?”
Olivia averted her gaze, biting her lip. “I’m alive,” she said softly.
Stephanie offered a comforting smile before her tone turned firm. “I’m sorry for your loss, but Olivia, you should’ve left Owen the moment you saw what he was capable of. He cheated on Aurora with you, what were you expecting? That he would remain faithful to you? Look at where this has led you.”
Stella intervened sharply. “Sister-in-law, now is not the time for admonishments. My daughter just lost her child.”
Stephanie glared at Stella. “And whose fault is that? You pushed her into this marriage despite knowing what Owen was. You even held an engagement party without her father’s consent. You enabled this!”
Stella stiffened but refused to back down. Olivia, meanwhile, seemed to withdraw into herself, her expression blank. Finally, she spoke, her voice cold and steady.
“Owen was a mistake. I should have insisted and cancelled the wedding when I had the chance. But now, nothing will stop me from divorcing him.”
Stella nodded, her tone gentler. “And this time, I won’t stop you.”
Stephanie folded her arms. “Divorce is fine, but what’s the use after all this? She’s been through a major surgery and may not conceive again.”
Without waiting for a response, Stephanie shifted gears, her tone sharp. “And where is Owen? Isn’t he supposed to be here?”
Stella scoffed, her expression hardening. “I called the cops on him last night. He’s sitting behind bars now. After what he did—causing my daughter to lose her child and jeopardizing her chances of having another—I made sure he paid.”
Stephanie’s brows arched slightly in surprise. Stella’s decisive action wasn’t entirely unexpected, but it still caught her off guard.
Olivia, however, remained silent. She didn’t flinch at the mention of Owen’s arrest, her face betraying no emotion. She was indifferent—completely detached from the man who had so thoroughly disrespected and humiliated her.
But Olivia harboured a secret. Her miscarriage wasn’t a tragedy; it was a calculated plan to escape her marriage. She had secretly taken lisinopril, a medication that induced miscarriage, waiting for the perfect opportunity to pin the blame on Owen.
Her scheme worked flawlessly. Owen’s reckless actions fell into place, but she hadn’t anticipated the cost. The miscarriage left her with a slim chance of conceiving again.
Had Olivia known the full consequences, she might have reconsidered. Now, with her freedom nearly within reach, she was left to bear the heavy price of her decision.
—
At the police station, Patricia and Richard bailed Owen out with their lawyer’s assistance. But as Owen stepped out, four men in black grabbed him by the arms and dragged him toward a waiting car.
“Hey! What’s going on?” Owen shouted, struggling against their grip. His parents stood silently, watching as he was whisked away.
Richard shook hands with the police chief. “Thank you for your cooperation.”
The chief nodded. “Just doing my job.”
If it wasn’t clear from the CCTV footage in the VIP room and a few witnesses that Owen hadn’t intended to harm Olivia in the first place, he would have been in a lot of trouble.
—
Owen sat stiffly in the back seat of the sleek black car, his wrists pinned by the iron grip of two men in suits.
“Hey! Are you deaf?” he snapped, his patience fraying. “Where are you taking me?”
His captors ignored him, their silence unyielding as the car glided onto the highway. Realizing resistance was futile, Owen slumped back, beads of sweat forming on his brow as his mind churned with unease.
He was still pissed at the fact that Stella called the police to arrest him while he was still at the hospital. This was something that had never happened in his life before and to add to the fact that he had to sleep overnight at the station was more pissing than embarrassing.
—
At the hospital, Patricia and Richard entered Olivia’s room, greeted by Stella’s icy stare as she sat vigil at her daughter’s bedside. “We came to apologize,” Patricia began tentatively.
Stella’s lips thinned. “After what your son did? What kind of man pushes his pregnant wife and kills his own child?”
Richard flinched. “Stella, please, we don’t condone Owen’s actions. We are here to support Olivia.”
“You didn’t stop him either,” Stella retorted sharply.
Patricia tried to interject, but Olivia’s steely voice cut through the tension. “Do you think apologies can fix this? Your son destroyed my life!” Tears streaked her pale face as she added, “I want a divorce!”
Patricia and Richard exchanged helpless glances, urging her to reconsider, but Olivia was resolute. “This marriage was a mistake. I’m done.”
Stella rose, her voice unyielding. “You heard her. Leave. There’s nothing more to discuss.”
Defeated, Patricia and Richard departed, their apologies ringing hollow.
—
When the door closed, Stella turned to Olivia, her gaze softening. “Are you sure this is what you want?”
“Absolutely!” Olivia’s voice trembled with emotion. “If you’d listened to me before, I wouldn’t be in this mess!”
Stella sighed, guilt etched across her face. “You are right. This time, I’m fully behind you. You will file for divorce, and we will demand half of Owen’s assets. No going back!”
