Chapter 181: Backlash
The bedroom lights glimmered softly as Olivia paced back and forth, her heart pounding with rage. The brutal comments she had read on Tea Time Gossip Blog had struck a nerve, each word stinging more than the last.
Her phone sat discarded on the bed, its screen dark, but the echoes of the criticism seemed to resonate in her mind like a relentless chorus.
“They think they can crush me with their words?” she muttered under her breath, her fists clenched tightly. “I will show them.”
Determined not to let the narrative spiral further out of her control, Olivia abruptly stopped pacing. She picked up her phone, her eyes gleaming with resolve, and began setting up her ring light and phone stand in the small living area of her bedroom.
Next, she went to sit in front of her dresser to apply some makeup. Though it took her some time, she didn’t mind as she couldn’t afford to look less than her usual self.
Olivia went back to the living area to adjust the camera angle, ensuring her face was well-lit and every detail of her pristine makeup was captured.
With a deep breath, she sat down and hit the ‘Go Live’ button.
—
The number of viewers climbed rapidly, the chat section buzzing with mixed reactions as her followers joined in. Some sent greetings, while others immediately bombarded her with harsh comments. Olivia forced a warm smile as she waved at the screen.
“Hello, everyone,” she began, her tone a blend of sweetness and underlying frustration. “Thank you for joining me tonight. I know there’s been a lot of noise recently, and I felt it was only fair to address some of the allegations and comments being thrown around.”
The chat exploded with messages:
ItsAnora; “Let’s hear what lies you’ve cooked up now.”
Pweetyisha; “Finally! Speak for yourself, Olivia!”
Misspolina; “This is going to be good. Grabbing popcorn.”
Olivia’s jaw tightened slightly, but she maintained her composure.
“First of all,” she said, looking directly into the camera, “I know most of you bloggers are heartless and insensitive, but you need to take a chill pill with your accusations. I never said I gave my sister any idea for her champagne. I only innocently hinted at something that happened between us. Stop twisting my words to suit your agendas.”
Taking a moment to glance at the comments scrolling across the screen, she noted the skepticism mixed with hostility.
“Secondly,” Olivia continued, her voice trembling slightly, “I am still going through one of the most traumatic and heartbreaking phases of my life. I lost my child, and I am yet to recover from that pain. So please, I am begging you all—stop calling me out with fabricated lies. Show some compassion.”
Her hand went to her chest as if to steady her breathing, and she paused for dramatic effect.
“I will no longer reply to any comments or resort to explaining myself further. This is the last time I will address this.”
She finished with a soft smile, her tone now heavy with emotion. “Thank you for listening, and goodnight.” With that, she ended the stream.
—
Feeling a wave of relief wash over her, Olivia exhaled deeply and dismantled her setup. She hummed softly to herself as she arranged the area, believing she had successfully turned the tide in her favour.
With a high-level surge of confidence, she went back to her dresser to sit and remove her makeup while staring at herself through the mirror with a smug smile.
“I don’t believe that I can’t even take care of something as little as this,” she mumbled to herself.
Finally, when Olivia was ready to get to bed, she picked up her phone and tucked herself in. As soon as the back of her head hit the pillow, she checked her phone again and her heart sank.
The comments under her LIVE video she had posted on her Instagram page were anything but supportive. The fans struck back without any ounce of pity for her.
Momof5boys; “You’re daring to mention Aurora’s name because you know she isn’t an attention seeker who will set up a camera to explain herself.”
DeluluOlivia; “Vintage Cellar should stop selling Spraying Champagne unless they’re trying to swindle us. Olivia, your ‘rotten grapes’ idea isn’t clever; it’s gross.”

Christy123; “If you’re so traumatized about your husband’s cheating and miscarriage, why did you accept the podcast interview in the first place? Stay home and heal.”
Crazybitch; “Olivia is just an attention seeker. If she can’t handle criticism, maybe she should disappear from the public eye entirely.”
Each comment felt like a dagger slicing through Olivia’s composure. Her hands shook as she continued scrolling, unable to stop herself from reading more:
Mindmybusiness; “Stop pretending to be the victim. You’ve built this mess around yourself. Deal with it.”
Foreignprint; “Olivia, you’ve tried to ruin Aurora’s life too many times. Karma is finally catching up to you.”
jessicaK; “If I were you, I’d delete my account and go live in the mountains where no one can find me.”
—
Olivia’s breathing quickened as her vision blurred with unshed tears. A deep, hollow despair now replaced the anger that had burned so brightly earlier. She threw her phone onto the bed, burying her face in her hands as sobs wracked her body.
“They’re all psychopaths,” she muttered through gritted teeth, her voice muffled. “How can they be so cruel? I only wanted to defend myself.”
But as the comments continued to pour in, Olivia couldn’t ignore the harsh reality: the world wasn’t buying her narrative. No matter how many times she tried to explain or shift the blame, her actions had already painted a picture the public refused to erase.
And now, she was left alone in her gilded cage, surrounded by the echoes of her crumbling reputation.
—
The bedroom door creaked open, and Owen stepped in. He glanced at Olivia, whose face was red with suppressed rage as she continued scrolling.
“Finally realizing how much you’ve embarrassed yourself?” he sneered, crossing his arms. Coincidentally, he was awake, and had seen both Tea Time’s Gossip blog’s article and also Olivia’s livestreaming and couldn’t help coming to find her.
Olivia shot him a deadly glare. “Shut up, Owen. If anyone’s an embarrassment, it’s you.”
Owen chuckled darkly. “Oh, I’m sure the world thinks otherwise, considering that podcast disaster you just pulled off. Plus, the livestreaming. You’ve managed to drag my name, your name, and both of our families into the mud—yet again. And now, even the bloggers and the keypad warriors won’t let you off.”
Olivia leapt to her feet, pointing a shaking finger at him. “Don’t act like you are innocent in this! If it weren’t for your constant cheating and that incident at the club, none of this would’ve happened!”
Owen stepped closer, his tone icy. “The difference, Olivia, is that I don’t parade myself as a saint. You, on the other hand, try to play the victim while dragging everyone down with you.”
Their heated exchange was interrupted by the sharp buzz of Olivia’s phone. She glanced at it and saw a notification from Tea Time Gossip’s Instagram page.
The club video had started trending again, reminding everyone of how she busted Owen with his mistress at the club after claiming not to recall the scene.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Tea Time Gossip blog posted screenshots from that unforgettable moment during Olivia and Owen’s bachelorette party which thousands of fans watched from the popular social media influencer, Susu, LIVE recording.
Olivia’s face drained of colour as Owen let out a mocking laugh. “Oh, look at that. Your precious fans are doing you a favour.”
“You… you’re the worst mistake of my life!” Olivia shouted, throwing her phone onto the bed.
“And you’re mine,” Owen retorted before storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
In as much as Owen was happy that Olivia got a clap back, he also couldn’t help feeling a rage as a result of being linked with her.
—
Meanwhile, more diminishing comments kept rolling in, each one a nail in the coffin of Olivia’s reputation.
BestPlayer13; “The club video is trending again! Olivia really thought she could fool us.”
OliviaOnColos; “Owen might be trash, but Olivia’s no saint. They’re a match made in hell.”
Lilybet; “Aurora must be laughing her head off right now.”
Olivia collapsed onto the bed, burying her face in her hands. For the first time, the full weight of her crumbling facade hit her. The internet was relentless, and she was drowning in its fury.
As the night wore on, Olivia’s mind raced. How would she recover from this? What could she do to turn the tides in her favour?
But deep down, she knew the answer: nothing. The damage had already been done. But now, she was struggling to make a decision.
Olivia was tied between deleting the LIVE video from her Instagram page and leaving it on there. But one thing was sure, no matter which action she took, it wasn’t going to stop tongues from wagging.
