Chapter 188: Everything was in Order
Aurora didn’t know how to continue her argument with Xander. He wanted Olivia’s fingers as payback, which was a much worse punishment than being charged with assault.
Aurora thought it might have been best to let Liam handle the case instead of letting Xander step in.
“My goodness!” Aurora let out an exasperated sigh as she palmed her forehead. She could already feel an incoming headache.
Instantly, the frown on Xander’s brows shifted from deep annoyance to that of worry. “Do you have headaches?” he inquired as he peered at her.
“Just get me out of here and we will talk about the collateral damages on the way,” Aurora said as she bypassed him for the car. As soon as she settled in the backseat, Xander shut the door and strolled over to the other side.
“Darling, you are not chopping anyone’s fingers,” Aurora ordered as she watched Xander secure his seatbelt. “You are not in the warfront.”
Xander lifted his gaze to meet hers. “Exactly because there is enough room for this case to get even bloodier.”
“You…” Aurora managed to say before another wave of sharp pain struck her head. Almost immediately, she looked away from him and buried her face in her palms, groaning in pain.
Xander got worried thinking that the surgery had relapsed. “Sweetheart, I think you should stop talking and rest. And how am I sure that woman didn’t do something else to you?”
“I think you will end up killing me before my enemies get to me,” Aurora sighed. “Cause I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t know you are the reason for my headaches right now.”
Xander brought her close to him and examined her with great attention, asking her which side was hurting so he could try to massage it.
“If you don’t want a bloody mess, I can always resort to another means. Case settled!” Xander declared.
Just then, Liam pulled the front passenger door open and sank into the seat. As soon as he shut the door, he turned his head to the side.
“Apologies, Sir, for the time wasted.”
Xander didn’t spare him a glance as he concentrated on cradling his wife’s head on his thigh. “Back to the base.”
“Back to which base?” Aurora asked, shooting up from his thighs, but he pressed her head back down gently. “Xander, we have a doctor’s appointment and are running late.”
“Fine,” Xander reluctantly agreed. He had wanted to take her back home for his doctors in the secret lab to run an MRI scan because of the headaches. But knowing how antsy she could get he submitted to her will. “Take us to the hospital,” he ordered as he briefly glanced at the chauffeur through the rearview mirror.
—
The sleek black car pulled into the driveway of the private hospital, its engine purring softly before coming to a stop.
Xander stepped out first, adjusting his suit jacket with a natural air of authority before circling the car to open the door for Aurora. With their hands intertwined, they walked toward the hospital entrance.
Inside, the reception area was serene, with muted colours and the quiet hum of polite chatter in the background. A nurse greeted them warmly, leading them to the gynaecologist’s office.
As they entered, the doctor, a warm woman in her late forties with kind eyes, rose from her chair to greet them.
“Mr. Scott, Mrs. Scott, welcome. Please, have a seat,” she said, gesturing to the chairs opposite her desk.
“Thank you,” Xander replied smoothly, pulling out a chair for Aurora before settling into his own.
Once everyone was seated, Xander spoke, his tone calm yet purposeful. “As we discussed over the phone, we’re here for a full examination. We’re planning to start a family, and I believe it’s best for both of us to ensure we’re in perfect health before taking that step.”
The doctor’s smile widened as she nodded. “That’s wonderful news, and I must commend you, Mr. Scott. Many husbands don’t accompany their wives for these visits, let alone opt for their own examinations. It’s refreshing to see such a supportive partnership.”
Xander’s expression softened as he glanced at Aurora. He squeezed her hand gently as if to assure her that they were in that journey together.
The doctor picked up her tablet and stood. “Let’s get started, shall we?”

Aurora was guided to an adjoining room, where she underwent a series of tests. The doctor asked detailed questions about her menstrual cycle, overall health, and sexual activity. Aurora answered each question thoughtfully, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush at the personal nature of some inquiries. Xander remained seated outside, reviewing emails on his phone, though his attention frequently flicked to the door, his concern evident.
When Aurora returned, Xander was ushered into the examination room for his turn. He removed his suit jacket and rolled up his sleeves with a smirk.
“Nothing to worry about, Mr. Scott,” the doctor assured him. “It’s just routine.”
—
Fifteen minutes later, they were back in the office. The doctor leaned back in her chair, her expression professional but warm.
“Well,” she began, “I have good news. Both of you are in excellent health. Mr. Scott, your results show that your sperm count and motility are optimal. To maintain this, I’d recommend continuing your healthy diet and exercise regimen. Avoid excessive stress, smoking, or alcohol consumption, and you’ll be in great shape.”
Xander nodded, his face impassive, though his relief was evident in the way his shoulders relaxed.
The doctor turned to Aurora. “Mrs. Scott, your results are equally positive. I’ll prescribe you folic acid, which you should start taking immediately. I’m also giving you a list of foods to incorporate into your diet—leafy greens, fruits, nuts, and lean proteins will all be beneficial. Your body is in good condition for pregnancy.”
Aurora exhaled softly, the knot of anxiety in her chest unraveling. “Thank you, Doctor,” she said, her voice filled with genuine gratitude.
The doctor continued, her tone gentle but firm. “Since you’ve stopped taking birth control, I recommend waiting about two weeks to a month before actively trying to conceive. This gives your body time to adjust. During this period, you’ll need to use alternative protection if you’re intimate.”
