Chapter 206: Fear For Her Life
Immense fear attacked Olivia to the point that her body was literally shaking. And even after the gunshots stopped, she was still unable to catch her breath.
“W-what w-was that sound just now?” she stumbled over her words as her hands slowly uncovered her ears.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the woods, some meters away from the house, Asher watched the footage from the drone his team had sent to spy on it.
“Can you find out which room she is in at the moment?” He asked, shooting his gaze to the man in black standing beside him.
“Yes, Sir,” the man replied and quickly went away. A minute later, he returned to Asher’s side with a piece of news. “She is in the master bedroom.”
“Good. Start a fire from the kitchen and force her to exit from the back door,” Asher instructed, finally taking her eyes off the monitor.
Immediately, the man nodded and left to carry out his orders. He passed the instructions to the others and immediately got them to work.

Olivia was sceptical about spending another minute in the bathroom after the dust had settled.
The next moment, she got out of the tub and used a clean towel to dry her body before changing into a clean set of clothes. But right there, as she was dressing, she heard a sound similar to a wave of wire enveloping something.
Olivia’s eyes widened in shock. She quickly wore her clothes completely and ran out of the bedroom towards the living room, and what her eyes saw forced a scream out from her patched throat.
“Ah!!!” she screamed as her gaze took in the burning oven in the kitchen. She was at a loss on what to do but just as she recovered from the shock and was about running inside the kitchen to try and put the fire out, the microwave exploded and immediately, the fireworks spread.
Olivia staggered backwards and fell on her butt, her heart beating erratically in her chest as fear gripped her senses.
She didn’t have the luxury opportunity to think about the reason for the fire and how to put it off anymore. She quickly scrambled to her feet and ran back toward the bedroom.
“I can’t die here!” she said, muttering under her breath as she rushed towards the nightstand to grab her phone. There wasn’t any service, so she didn’t bother to attempt calling the fire service.
Olivia remembered her bag and quickly rushed to the closet to grab it. At the same time, the fire increased and started spreading to the living area. Although she didn’t know about this now, she could tell the fire had spread to neighbouring areas close to the kitchen.
Olivia could care less about her outfit in the laundry basket and quickly ran out of the room but to her shock, the hallway was already covered with thick smoke.
It had only been a minute since she left the kitchen, and already, more damage had been done.
Olivia didn’t dare to linger anymore. She quickly covered her nose with her inner elbow and ran towards her left, straight to the in-house pool area where a back door was located.
Surprisingly, the door wasn’t locked after Olivia’s second attempt to force it open, but she was in so much shock that she didn’t realise that fact.
She was only grateful to have escaped the burning house before it swallowed her whole.
Without looking back, Olivia ran towards the cleared path in the woods to escape as Asher watched her from the footage the drone above her captured.
“That was fast,” Asher mumbled to himself with tightly knitted brows.
“W-what do you mean, Sir?” his subordinate asked carefully with a curious stare on him.
Almost immediately, Asher took his gaze off the footage and glanced at him. “I was intending to have her swallow a lot of smoke before escaping.”
“Maybe we shouldn’t have unlocked the backdoor in time,” his subordinate spoke in understanding.
A deep sigh escaped Asher’s lips as he put his hands on his waist. “It’s a pity I couldn’t punish her a bit.”

On the other hand, Olivia, who had just managed to get on the major road after her non-stop race, stopped a taxi.

It was only after she had settled in the car’s back seat that she began to catch her breath.
She clutched her chest and said breathlessly, “I-I almost died today! I almost got burnt and offered as a toast offering to God!”
Olivia was so traumatized by the event that she couldn’t think of anything else other than it. Even, she didn’t remember to check her phone for network services until twenty minutes into the ride. And by then, her heart rate had normalised.
“Miss, are you okay?” the driver asked, glancing through the rear-view mirror. But as soon as Olivia heard his voice, she became vigilant just in case he turned out to be another kidnapper.
“Focus on taking me to my destination, and I will pay you handsomely,” she said, watching him sceptically.
Left with no choice, the driver refocused his attention on the road and didn’t speak to her until he got to her destination.
Finally arriving outside the gates of the Scott family’s main residence, a deep sigh of relief escaped Olivia’s lips.
She didn’t waste a second before stepping out of the car. Next, she asked the driver for her bill amount. When he told her, she opened her purse, brought out the exact cash, and passed it to him.
The driver took the cash from her, his brows laced with confusion. Immediately, he called her attention, seeing that she was about to walk away.
“Miss! You didn’t add the tip!” he reminded, pushing his head out the window.
Hearing that, Olivia stopped in her steps and turned to him. “Don’t be greedy,” she scoffed before turning away to continue in her steps.
Obviously, she changed her mind about her promise to double her taxi fare after he had successfully brought her home.
