Chapter 209: Causing a Commotion at the Old House
As Aurora and Xander walked side by side along the flower path, she said to him, “I hope that just like today, you will be able to tell me all the important information and not keep anything away from me.”
“I will do my best,” Xander assured her, squeezing her hand gently. “Sweetheart, you know I would never hurt you purposely.”
“I hope so,” Aurora mumbled with a smile as her gaze reflected their surroundings.
Xander’s lips parted in a bid to counter her doubt, but just then, he heard a female voice screaming some inaudible words harshly and instantly, he stopped in his tracks.
“Do you hear that?” he asked Aurora as his brows furrowed slightly.
Aurora also stopped in her tracks to listen for the voice as she had been distracted earlier by their conversation. She strained her ears and only waited for a moment when she heard the unable female voice.
“Is there a woman screaming at the gates, or is it just me?” She asked confusion etched deep in her brows as she turned to Xander. They both exchanged glances.
“I will ask Liam to take a look,” Xander said and quickly whipped his phone out while he grabbed Aurora’s hand with the other hand and forged ahead.
A minute later, Xander dropped the call and turned to Aurora. “Sweetheart, I think we should head back inside and wait for Liam’s feedback.”
Aurora nodded in agreement a d followed him back inside. And to their surprise, they walked into the living area to be met with the elderly couple’s worry.
“Alexander, what is that commotion out there?” Old Mr. Scott inquired.
“I have sent someone to check it out. In no time, we will find out,” Xander replied as he settled down on one of the sofas with Aurora beside him.
A few minutes later, Liam stepped inside the room and focused his attention on Xander as all eyes turned to him.
“It was Miss Olivia Swift causing a commotion, but the security has swiftly removed her,” he informed.
Everyone in the room exchanged odd glances, allowing the revelation to settle in.
Olivia, making a commotion right outside the Scott family’s old manor? What reason did she have to act crazily?
Perhaps, was she too drunk to realize that she had come to the wrong house to make trouble?
“Did she say why?” Aurora shifted uncomfortably in her seat, asking the question everyone wanted an answer to as embarrassment hit her.
She didn’t know why that step-sister of hers always sought to embarrass her at every chance she got.
Olivia seemed to have forgotten that she came from a prestigious family and was required to mind her image in public since her actions would always be traced or pinned on the rest of the family members.
With just one misconduct from her, everyone would think the others were the same, regardless of their own efforts to stand out.
Aurora couldn’t help being mad right now. She was also prompted to give Olivia a backhand slap at least once in her life.
Almost immediately, Liam shifted his gaze to Aurora to quench her curiosity. “She mentioned how unfairly she was being treated after complaining that Owen had thrown her out of the house. Then she asked the elders to resolve the issue while threatening to ruin the entire Scott family.”
Aurora cowered in embarrassment. She couldn’t believe that she was shamed even though she wasn’t the one who went raging mad in front of other people’s gate.
Sensing Aurora’s dilemma, the old lady spoke. “That young lady seems to have come to the end of her life span. She is behaving erratically. She needs urgent help before her madness consumed her.”
“I hope the rest of my grandchildren can learn a few lessons from Owen and this young lady’s relationship. They weren’t compatible from the onset. I shouldn’t have allowed their marriage in the first place,” Old Mr. Scott said, his tone, dripping with regret.
“And it’s not like you ever drummed your support for them, so why blame yourself,” the old lady said to him, a little upset. “We didn’t support or disagree with them. We simply stepped back.”
Silence ensued in the room as the old man stood to his feet and paced about with his hands crossed behind his back.
Although, Aurora never met any of her grandparents, she could tell that posture her father-in-law took, spelled seriousness.

Suddenly, old Mr. Scott stopped pacing and fixed his gaze on Xander. “I think it’s time I take back the control of marriage in this family. Leaving everyone to marry whoever they wished would bring this family to its premature end.”
Right there where Aurora sat, she felt her heart racing in her chest. Although none of this concerned her anymore since she was already married to Xander, but she couldn’t help but feel bad about other people.
But somehow, she could not understand why the rich planned their children’s marriages and made them marry the people they chose for them apart from their self reasons.
Olivia and Owen’s union has proven that parents should be worried enough to investigate the partners their children picked.
Old Mrs. Scott let out a deep sigh. She didn’t say a word to counter her husband’s decision, and neither did Xander.
“Richard didn’t raise his son properly. He totally forgot to pass the guidance you gave to him as a child to his own son. What a shame,” the old lady muttered under her breath.
The old lady’s words only seemed to fuel her husband’s anger. The next second, he declared, “I will make this new rule known to others. And anyone who isn’t ready to abide by them should drop the Scott surname and leave the family at once!”
Right after saying his peace, he called the butler over and instructed him to pass a message on to Richard and his family.
After the butler left, a deep sigh escaped the old lady’s lips. Then, a small smile appeared as she shifted her gaze to Aurora.
“Daughter, we are sorry you had to see all of that.”
Immediately, Aurora shook her head, trying to manage a smile. “I should be the one apologizing for my sister’s odd behaviour. I am deeply sorry about that.”
