Chapter 251: The Divorce Case Final Verdict
Wing City Supreme Court.
Two days later, the courtroom buzzed with hushed whispers as reporters, spectators, and legal personnel settled in for the long-awaited showdown between Olivia Swift and Owen Scott. This was no ordinary divorce case.
It was a full-blown scandal, a circus where two once-prominent socialites were tearing each other apart like rabid animals in the arena of justice.
As the judge entered, the courtroom fell into silence. Judge Ursula Hugo, a seasoned woman in her late fifties, adjusted her glasses and let out a slow sigh. She had presided over countless high-profile cases, but never had she seen two individuals from such distinguished families degrade themselves so publicly.
With an exhausted sigh, she glanced at both lawyers. “Let’s get this over with.”
Olivia’s lawyer, Attorney Perkins, stood first. He wasted no time in launching his attack.
“Your Honor, my client, Olivia Swift, has suffered irreparable emotional and psychological damage at the hands of Owen Scott. We have undeniable proof that Mr. Scott engaged in multiple extramarital affairs while still legally bound in marriage. In fact, his infidelity was so rampant that the media itself documented it extensively. Allow me to present Exhibit A—”
Perkins motioned to his assistant, who connected a flash drive to the courtroom’s projection system.
Within seconds, the large screen flickered to life, playing various Tea Time Gossip Blog articles, each filled with photographic evidence of Owen wrapped around different women in clubs, at private resorts, and even one of him kissing Juliet—the mistress.
Murmurs erupted in the courtroom as images and videos played one after another, some with Olivia caught in the background looking humiliated.
In one particularly damning clip, Owen was seen drunkenly laughing with two woman on his sides when Olivia stormed into the private room in the club.
Olivia crossed her arms smugly and shot Owen a victorious smirk.
“Your Honor, these are just a few of the countless instances of Mr. Scott publicly disrespecting my client and making a mockery of their marriage.” Perkins continued. “His behavior not only tarnished her reputation but also resulted in severe emotional distress. Additionally, due to his violent outburst, my client suffered a miscarriage and has since been unable to conceive.”
A sympathetic murmur ran through the crowd. Olivia feigned distress, dabbing at imaginary tears.
Owen, sitting beside his lawyer, Attorney Marshall, clenched his jaw but said nothing. ‘How can she conceive when I didn’t touch her?’
Judge Hugo nodded before turning to Yolanda. “Counsellor, your response?”
Yolanda, a woman in her forties, known for her ruthless efficiency, nodded before rising.
“Your Honor, while my client acknowledges that there were shortcomings in the marriage, we strongly refute the idea that Mrs. Swift was a helpless victim. If anything, she was the aggressor. She does not deserve half of my client’s assets, as she contributed nothing to their marriage but drama and destruction. Let me present our evidence.”
Yolanda retrieved a flash drive from her brown leather bag and nodded to the assistant. Seconds later, the screen changed, now displaying CCTV footage.
The first clip showed Olivia at the Scott family’s main residence, slapping their butler so hard that the man lowered his face, but stood his ground. Gasps rippled through the audience.
“That, Your Honor, is physical assault,” Yolanda said, her voice calm and calculated. “My client’s employees feared for their safety in their own workplace.”
The second clip showed Olivia standing outside the Scott family’s private estate, throwing big stones used to decorate the walkway against the mansion’s grand windows before grabbing a flower pot and hurling it at another window, shattering it completely.
Laughter and hushed whispers spread throughout the courtroom. Even Judge Hugo rubbed her temple in clear frustration.
Yolanda turned to Olivia with a knowing smirk. “Miss. Swift, would you like to explain this behaviour to all of us here?”
Olivia sat stiffly, her nails digging into her palm. She took a slow breath before sitting up straight. “Yes, I broke the windows. But only because Owen locked me out of the house at night and refused to let me in!”
Owen scoffed and finally spoke. “I locked you out because I had already filed for divorce, and you refused to pack out. I told you. I told your mother. You both ignored me.”
His words sent another wave of murmurs through the crowd. Olivia’s lawyer was quick to interject.
“Your Honor, my client was still legally married to Mr. Scott at the time. He had no right to evict her from her own home without due process!”
Yolanda shot back, “A home that was in his family’s name, Your Honor. A home she destroyed in a fit of rage. A home she had no claim to from the very beginning.”

The courtroom descended into heated arguments, voices overlapping, accusations flying.
Judge Hugo, who had been listening with increasing irritation, finally slammed her gavel down hard.
“Enough!” she bellowed, making everyone freeze. “I have had enough of you two and your pathetic battle. Never in my career have I witnessed such childish, selfish, and disgraceful behaviour from two grown adults from reputable families.”
She rubbed her temple again. “I never want to see you both in my court again. I am ending this nonsense today. We will resume after recess, and I will make my final ruling then. Understood?”
Olivia and Owen nodded stiffly.
“Good. Court dismissed for recess.”
—
During the recess, both parties sat in separate rooms with their legal teams. Olivia, still fuming, crossed her arms.
“Are you sure we’re winning this?” she asked Mr. Perkins, worry creeping into her voice.
Mr. Perkins nodded firmly. “Don’t worry. The evidence of his infidelity outweighs the accusations against you. You’ll get a fair settlement.”
Meanwhile, in Owen’s room, he paced the floor as Yolanda reclined in her chair.
“You’re worried,” she observed.
Owen exhaled sharply. “Of course, I am. That witch doesn’t deserve a dime, but I know the court won’t rule in my favour.”
Yoland smirked. “We will see.”
—
When the court resumed, Judge Hugo wasted no time as she couldn’t wait to get rid of Olivia and Owen.
“After reviewing all evidence and testimonies, the ruling is as follows,” she declared.
She turned to Owen. “You are to award Miss. Swift here, 20% of all properties under your name. However, this does not include assets belonging to your family.”
Olivia’s face twisted in anger.
The judge then turned to her. “Additionally, you, Miss Swift, are to bear the full cost of repairing the damages to the Scott family’s private residence.”
Owen’s jaw tightened. He didn’t want to give her anything, but at least he had prevented her from taking half.
“That is my ruling. This case is closed,” Judge Hugo said firmly, slamming her gavel.
Olivia and Owen were both furious.
Outside the courtroom, Olivia pretended to be pleased, flashing a victorious smirk at Owen.
“Guess I still managed to snatch a piece of your fortune,” she taunted.
Owen sneered. “Enjoy it while you can. I’m not done with you. I promise you, Olivia, I will make sure whatever is left of your reputation burns.”
Olivia rolled her eyes. “Try me.”
With one final glare, Owen turned and walked away. While his lawyer approached Olivia and her team.
“We’ll begin the transfer process after final verification and court documentation.”
Immediately, Olivia interjected. “I want to be there during the evaluation to make sure Owen doesn’t cheat me.”
Yolanda scoffed. “That won’t be necessary. The court will oversee everything.”
And with that, she turned and left.
Olivia clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palm.
This case wasn’t over.
