Chapter 27: First Fight
Old Mr. & Mrs. Scott glanced at Owen before shifting their gaze to Xander, expecting his explanation while hoping he was joking.
“Yes,” Xander admitted with a nod. His parents leaned back into their seats, completely out of it.
“Wow!” Owen exclaimed as he sat beside Xander still reeling from the shocking announcement. He could hardly believe his own ears.
Old Mrs. Scott’s brows furrowed. “How can you get married without informing your parents and letting us see the lady first? Which planet did you come from?”
Xander’s lips twitched. “It’s my fault. I didn’t want to fight with some other man for her attention, so I first trapped her with an intimate wedding. You will meet her soon, and a bigger wedding ceremony will be held.”
“You trapped her?” Old Mr. Scott raised a questioning brow, seemingly confused. “What do you mean by that?”
“I hope you didn’t deceive an innocent woman into marrying you?” Old Mrs. Scott asked, alarmed as she fixed a piercing gaze on him.
Xander chuckled lightly. “What kind of person do you see me as?” As soon as he posed that question, he turned to Owen, shifting the conversation, “Why did you come?”
“Oh!” Owen quickly recovered from the shock and faced the old couple after Xander successfully distracted them. “Grandpa, please talk to my parents. They have refused to arrange a formal meeting with the Swift family. And it’s been two weeks since the engagement.”
“Isn’t that what you get for rush-engaging your ex-girlfriend’s sister without your family’s approval? Who taught you that?” The old lady asked, lines on her forehead.
Owen quickly looked away. It was his turn to get scolded and he couldn’t handle the pressure.
“Owen.” Old Mr. Scott sighed. “I will speak to your parents on your behalf, but this will be my last favour on this matter. Is that clear?”
Instantly, Owen’s eyes glowed with excitement. “Thank you, Grandpa. Thank you, Grandma!” He had come with high expectations as Olivia had been disturbing him about it. Thankfully, his grandparents didn’t dash his hopes.
“Now, you can go home in peace,” Xander said as he patted his back twice. Reflexively, Owen stood up. Thanking the old couple once more, he bowed respectfully to Xander and took off.
The old Lady scoffed. “Look at him skipping like a child.” Shifting her gaze to her husband, she said, “On one hand is a grandson who doesn’t know how to treat women right and on the other hand is a son who traps a woman in a marriage. What kind of generation of sons did we raise?”
“I think I will take my leave now.” Xander cleared his throat and stood to his feet. He had wanted to spend more time with his parents but with the direction of the conversation, he thought it would be better to just stay away.
“Look at him running away,” old Mrs. Scott observed, staring daggers at him.
Xander walked up to her, took her hands and kissed them. “I’m only going home to my wife, Mama,” he smiled, then turned to his father to bid him goodbye.
“Bring your wife with you next time,” old Mr. Scott instructed.
“I will, Papa,” Xander replied and turned to leave.
When Xander returned home, he saw Aurora rolling her suitcase towards the stairs. Instantly, the corners of his lips turned downwards.
Aurora was surprised to see him standing at the bottom of the stairs watching her. She hadn’t noticed when he appeared. As she stood there frozen in shock, he took the stairs to meet her.
“Where do you think you are going with those bags?” Xander interrogated as soon as he cornered her.
“Of course, I’m leaving you!” She said, standing her ground, despite the fear in her eyes.
“Why?” He asked calmly, looking interested in her reasons.
Aurora went quiet for a moment before speaking, “You forgot to mention how dangerous you were.”
Xander let out a deep throaty chuckle. “Sweetheart, you didn’t ask.”
“I don’t care! I don’t want to be a part of this anymore! I want a divorce” She insisted, grabbing her suitcase.
Xander shook his head. “Too late. We are already married. You now belong to me, and divorce is out of the question. Don’t even think about leaving!”

“What?” Aurora stood there stunned, trying to process his statement along with that serious expression on his face. Suddenly, her gaze darkened as a thought came to her mind.
Just now, she realized why he took away her own copy of the marriage certificate booklet. It wasn’t just for safe-keeping as she had understood. He was hiding it from her as if he knew a day like today would come.
“You.” She stared at him wide-eyed.
Xander stuffed his hand inside his pockets and said, “Do you know how long I have had my eyes on you for you to want to leave now?”
Instantly, the light in Aurora’s eyes dimmed. “The engagement party wasn’t the first time you saw me? You already knew who I was before then?” she asked, putting two and two together from his revelation.
Xander refused to answer that question, provoking her further.
“Are you a stalker too?”
“Don’t put me in the same likes as those psychopaths!” He said, brows furrowing and his gaze darkening.
“Well, you are one until proven ‘not guilty’ by me!” She stated. “Is your best friend, Asher a criminal like you?”
A muscle flexed in Xander’s jaw as he balled his fists in his pockets. His gaze hardened. How dare she talk about his best friend like that?
Aurora and Xander exchanged heated glances with none refusing to yield to the other.
“Someone, come and take Madam’s things back inside and put them back in order!” Xander instructed before moving his gaze away from Aurora.
Immediately, two servants ran upstairs to take Aurora’s bags from her. And Xander glanced at her before turning go downstairs shrouded in anger.
“You haven’t answered my question. Where are you going?” Aurora quickly followed him down the stairs. No matter what she said to him, he continued ahead without a word.
Pissed at his actions, she stopped in her steps, seething in rage. How dare he order her around and trap her in a union she no longer wanted and then go on to ignore her?
The next moment, she removed one of her shoes and threw it at him. The shoe landed at his back before dropping to the rugged floor, prompting him to halt in his steps.
Xander slowly turned around, eyes on the shoe before slowly lifting his gaze to meet hers.
“How about I return the favour?”
“You are going to throw the shoe back at me?” Aurora asked in disbelief.
He watched her calmly, releasing his hands from his pockets. “You can throw a shoe at me but I can’t do the same?”
