Chapter 30: Xander Reveals His Secret identity
Aurora’s heart skipped a beat as the curtains swung open unexpectedly, revealing Xander’s reflection in the mirror. She swiftly yanked the dress back up, concealing her exposed chest and turned to face him.
“What the hell are you doing here?” She asked, eyes growing wide in sheer surprise mixed with annoyance. She was aware he sent people to watch her, but she didn’t expect him to show up.
A smirk turned up at the corner of Xander’s lips as his eyes raked her body. Ignoring her question, he said, “I have seen every inch of your body. No need to be shy.”
“Well, I haven’t seen every inch of yours, so get out right now!” Aurora ordered, pointing a finger past his shoulder.
“Okay.” He raised his hands in surrender and turned to leave. Suddenly, he turned back around again. “This dress isn’t as beautiful as the ones I got you. You should at least check them out once before rejecting them!”
“Get. The. Hell. Out. Xander!” This time around, Aurora’s voice was filled with rage, prompting him to leave.
‘This one has got such a bad temper,’ Xander said to himself as he went to take the couch in the room.
Seeing him step out, Nene didn’t dare to sit. She was a little concerned, hoping Aurora wouldn’t blame her for his presence as she had nothing to do with it. Thankfully, Aurora already knew a bit about him; no one could stop him from getting what he wanted.
Aurora picked the dress and the pair of shoes she wanted before going to the check-out counter to pay for them after they were packaged. But as she reached for her purse to take out her card, Xander appeared and passed his American Express Black Card.
“I will pay for the lady here.”
As soon as the staff from the counter saw his card, she smiled and took it, swiping it on the machine before Aurora could speak.
Aurora stormed off angrily, leaving Nene to get the bags. Xander took back his card and quickly caught up with her as soon as she stepped outside the mall.
“Why are you mad that I paid for your items?” He asked, grabbing her hand lightly. She immediately flung his hand away.
“Are you crazy today?” she asked, barely unable to hold back her anger in public. “What if a rumour about us starts especially with you accompanying me to shop and paying for the items?”
“Let the rumours start flying, that will be even better,” he declared.
Aurora watched him in disbelief, thinking that he had completely lost his mind.
Just then, Xander’s car pulled over in front of them as Nene stepped out of the mall. Xander opened the back passenger door and held it as he stepped aside. “Get in,” he said with his gaze on Aurora.
“I don’t get into cars of people who kill,” Aurora stated with finality in her tone.
Xander said without blinking, “If you don’t get in, I will kiss you right here.”
Instantly, Aurora’s gaze darkened. Before, she had been annoyed with him but now, she was mad.
“Xander, I already hate you as it is, so don’t deepen the emotions by threatening me.”
A deep sigh escaped Xander’s lips as his shoulders relaxed. “Didn’t you ask me what I was doing here? I have something important to talk about, so ride with me.”
Aurora felt 1% better after he explained things and got into his car. She didn’t know where he learned this bad habit of threatening people just to get what he wanted instead of speaking like a civil citizen.
As soon as the car joined the major road, Xander dug through the inner pocket of his jacket and took out a special silver crest badge. Instantly, Aurora became interested, so he passed it to her to take a proper look.
The entire situation changed as soon as Aurora recognized the mythical creature crafted on the silver crest. It was the liver bird bearing a branch of laver seaweed in its beak; a symbol of Wing City.
“Can I get your word that what I’m about to disclose stays between us and won’t get into another ear, even your best friend’s?” he asked, his gaze turning serious.
“You have my word.” Aurora nodded, knowing he was about to reveal his secret identity which she was now sure had nothing to do with any criminal organization after seeing the crest.
“For your safety, I won’t give detailed information,” Xander said to her and resumed his revelation. “I am a part of a secret service agent created by our country’s government.”
Aurora’s eyes almost shot to the back of her head. “You work for the government?”

“Yes. And that is the reason I have the right to eliminate a certain group of criminals,” he said, emphasizing the reason he killed those men tailing her.
Aurora; “What is the role of your secret agency?”
Xander; “We eliminate the criminal and terrorist group threatening the peace of Wing City and beyond. A big name in our country is involved, and we are yet to fish them out.”
Aurora; “Is your best friend Asher also involved?”
Xander; “Yes.”
Aurora; “When were you both recruited and how long have you two been working for the agency?”
Xander; “Asher and I were selected during our mandatory military service. We were taken to Russia for three years to receive hard-core training before joining the agency formally. It’s been ten years now since we were formally recruited.
Aurora; “Let me guess, your family doesn’t know about this.”
Xander; “They don’t.”
Aurora flipped the crest half the size of her palm and saw ‘Arsenal’ carved on it. She shifted her gaze back to him and asked, “Arsenal is the name of your secret service agency?”
As soon as she asked that question, he snatched the crest from her and stuffed it back into his pocket. “Don’t ever let that name slip from your tongue, even by mistake. Do you understand?” he warned.
“Okay,” she complied, a little surprised by his reaction.
Xander didn’t mind answering Aurora’s questions as long as she didn’t dive into classified information.
