Chapter 303: Aurora Spends the Day with Old Mrs. Scott
A few Days Later…
The crisp morning air carried a slight chill as Xander’s black luxury S-class sedan pulled into the hospital’s private parking lot. As soon as the engine went off, Xander stepped out of the driver’s seat and walked around to open the door for Aurora.
“Careful,” he murmured, offering his hand.
Aurora took it, stepping out gracefully. The warmth of his palm against hers sent a sense of calm through her.
Though she was already four months pregnant, Aurora’s bump was still small, only just beginning to make its presence known beneath her elegant sweater dress. Yet, Xander treated her as though she were carrying something far more fragile than life itself.
Inside the hospital, they were quickly guided to their appointment. The familiar sterile scent of the clinic filled Aurora’s nostrils as they walked through the halls. She squeezed Xander’s hand lightly, and he glanced at her.
“Nervous?” he asked.
She shook her head. “Not really. Just… excited.”
When they reached the doctor’s office, a nurse ushered them inside. The doctor, greeted them with a warm smile before instructing Aurora to lie down on the examination bed.
The ultrasound machine beeped softly as the cool gel was applied to her stomach. Xander stood beside her, his hand resting lightly on her arm as they both watched the screen.
“There’s your little one, still developing healthily” the doctor said, turning the screen toward them.
Aurora felt her breath hitch. There, on the monitor, was a small yet unmistakable form, moving ever so slightly.
Xander smiled, his grip on her arm tightening. “Look at it. I guess it’s happy.” he whispered.
Then, the doctor glanced at them. “Would you like to know the baby’s gender?”
Aurora and Xander turned to each other at the same time, their eyes locking. A silent conversation passed between them—one filled with excitement, anticipation, and mutual agreement.
They smiled and shook their heads in unison. “Not yet,” Xander answered for them both. “We’d like to wait a little longer.”
The doctor nodded in understanding before continuing the check-up. “Just for your information, you can find out about your baby’s gender on your next appointment.”
Before they left, the doctor frowned slightly as she studied Aurora’s medical records and mentioned that she was a bit mentally stressed.
Aurora blinked. “Stressed?”
The doctor nodded. “Nothing too concerning, but it’s important to take care of your mental well-being, especially during pregnancy. Stress can have effects on both the mother and the baby. Try to rest more, avoid unnecessary worries, and take time for yourself.”
Xander’s face darkened slightly, his protective instincts immediately kicking in. He turned to Aurora, concern evident in his eyes.
“Are you feeling overwhelmed?” he asked softly.
Aurora shook her head quickly. “No, I’m fine. I just have a lot on my plate at work. But I can ask my Aunt to do something about it. Also thankfully, Olivia is back now.”
The doctor sighed and handed her a pamphlet on pregnancy wellness. “Be mindful, Aurora. Your health comes first. Listen to your body.”
Xander took the pamphlet from Aurora before she could protest. “I’ll make sure she does,” he assured the doctor, and Aurora playfully rolled her eyes at him.
After finishing the check-up, they left the hospital, walking hand in hand toward the car.
As they reached the vehicle, Aurora glanced up at Xander. “How long is your meeting going to take?”
He exhaled as he opened the car door for her. “Not sure. I’m not the one convening it, so it depends. But I’ll come to pick you up afterward.”
Aurora nodded, satisfied with his answer, and let him help her into the car.

Xander dropped Aurora off at his family’s old residence before heading to his meeting.
As soon as Aurora walked in, the familiar scent of freshly baked bread and mild spices filled her senses.
Old Mrs. Scott was waiting for her in the grand sitting area, a pleased smile spreading across her face as she beckoned Aurora closer.
“My dear, come here,” she said, extending her hands.
Aurora smiled warmly and greeted her in the same way Xander always did—by taking her hand, kissing the back of it, and gently pressing it against her forehead.
The old lady’s smile widened in approval. “Ah, you’re learning well,” she said, patting Aurora’s cheek affectionately.
Aurora chuckled. “Xander taught me.”
“And where is that husband of yours?” the old lady asked as she gestured for Aurora to sit beside her.
Aurora adjusted herself into the seat. “He had a meeting. He will come to pick me up when it’s done.” Then Aurora asked about Old Mr. Scott, as he was nowhere in sight.
Old Mrs. Scott nodded in understanding. “Your father-in-law is out playing golf with his friends.”
As they chatted, the old lady led Aurora toward the dining room. “I prepared something special for you,” she proudly announced. You mentioned craving something spicy, so I made roasted sweet potatoes with peppered snails and chicken pepper soup with rice.”
Aurora’s eyes lit up. “You remembered?”
“Of course,” the old woman said, guiding her to the table. “A pregnant woman’s cravings must be taken seriously.”
Aurora’s mouth practically watered at the sight of the food. “I’m already drooling,” she admitted, laughing as she took a seat.
Old Mrs. Scott personally served the food onto Aurora’s plate before watching her take the first bite. Aurora hummed in delight, closing her eyes as she savoured the burst of flavours.
“You like it?” the old lady asked, smiling in satisfaction.
Aurora nodded, swallowing before answering. “It’s perfect.”
They ate together, sharing quiet conversation, before moving to the living room where the old lady finalized the plans for their upcoming family vacation.
Aurora listened as the planner mentioned different family-friendly activities. Her interest was piqued when they mentioned a gingerbread house-making contest.
“I love that idea,” Aurora said instantly.
Old Mrs. Scott chuckled. “I thought you might.” Then she sighed. “We were supposed to go camel riding in the desert, but I cancelled it since you’re pregnant.”
Aurora frowned. “You didn’t have to cancel it on my behalf. Everyone else should still have fun.”
The old lady shook her head. “Nonsense. I want everyone to bond, not separate.”
Aurora laughed but didn’t argue further.
Soon, she needed to use the bathroom, but having stuffed herself with so much food, she found it difficult to get up. She groaned dramatically, and Old Mrs. Scott laughed at the sight of her struggling.
