Chapter 307: Abigail Visits Aurora at Vintage Cellar
At the other end of the city…
The aroma of freshly baked pastries filled the cozy air of the upscale confectionery store as Abigail and her mother, Evelyn Miller, sat at a small, elegantly decorated table near the window.
Through the glass, the bustling city streets of Wing City unfolded before them, but Abigail’s focus was firmly on the cup of coffee she stirred absentmindedly.
Her mother, on the other hand, was watching her with a knowing expression.
“So, tell me,” Evelyn started, cutting into her slice of cheesecake, “are you dating anyone?”
Abigail didn’t even flinch. She had expected this question—her mother never failed to bring it up whenever they had a quiet moment together. With a sigh, she took a sip of her coffee before replying flatly, “No.”
Evelyn frowned slightly. “And why is that?”
“Because I don’t have the time,” Abigail said matter-of-factly.
Her mother let out a small sigh, setting down her fork. “Abby, life isn’t just about work. You need to make time for love, for companionship. Marriage isn’t just about romance—it’s about having a partner to share your wins, your struggles, your space.”
Abigail smirked. “You make it sound like a business deal.”
“In a way, it is,” Evelyn countered, folding her hands on the table. “A good marriage is about stability and having someone to stand by your side through everything. And children… they may seem like a burden at first, but at old age, they become your greatest blessing.”
Abigail chuckled dryly, shaking her head. “Well, don’t put your trust in me. I might never marry. And if I ever feel like having children, I could just adopt.”
Evelyn’s expression darkened slightly. “Adopt?” she echoed in disbelief. “Abigail, it’s not just about having children—it’s about having your own flesh and blood, someone who carries your legacy.”
Abigail exhaled sharply. “Mom, not everyone finds happiness in the same way. I love my life the way it is. And if I ever do decide to have kids, does it really matter how they come into my life?”
Evelyn sighed, shaking her head in disapproval. “One day, you’ll understand. A time will come when you want a family of your own, to share your highs and lows with. And by then, I hope it’s not too late.”
Abigail remained silent, offering her mother a small, amused smile but choosing not to argue further. Instead, she flagged down a staff member. “I’ll take a box of assorted pastries to go,” she said. “Croissants, cake slices, macarons, and some canelés.”
The staff nodded and hurried off, leaving Evelyn to study her daughter with a mixture of fondness and mild frustration.
“You’re avoiding the conversation,” Evelyn pointed out.
“I’m smart, aren’t I?” Abigail replied cheekily.
Her mother sighed again but let it go because Abigail would always win in matters like this.
—
After leaving the confectionery store, Abigail made her way straight to Vintage Cellar. The towering glass building stood proudly in the heart of the business district, exuding power and prestige.
She entered through the grand revolving doors and immediately pulled out her phone to text Aurora.
Abigail: I’m at the front desk of your company.
Aurora’s response was instant.
Aurora: Huh?
Then, after a brief pause—
Aurora: Wait there. I’ll call them to let you through.
A few moments later, one of the front desk staff approached her with a polite smile. “Miss Miller, please follow me.”
Abigail nodded with a small smile and was led through the sleek hallways until they reached Aurora’s office.

The moment Abigail stepped inside, Aurora greeted her with a warm smile. “You? Here? I’m surprised.”
“Good surprises are rare,” Abigail teased, giving Aurora a half-hug from the side—thanks to Aurora’s growing baby bump blocking a full embrace.
Aurora chuckled and led them to the sitting area.
As they sat down, Abigail looked around, taking in the elegant yet professional décor. “Not bad. Your office is impressive,” she noted as she set the box of pastries down on the table.
Aurora grinned. “Glad you approve. But what brings you here?”
Abigail gestured toward the box. “I was at a confectionery store a few blocks away with my mom and decided to drop by with some pastries. Thought you might like them.”
Aurora’s smile widened as she opened the box. “Oh, you know me too well.” Without hesitation, she plucked a pink macaron and took a bite. A soft hum of approval escaped her lips. “This is good.”
Abigail watched her, satisfied. “Eat them one at a time, though. Too much sugar isn’t good for you or the baby.”
Aurora gave her a mock glare. “Yes, Mom.”
They shared a laugh before Aurora tilted her head in curiosity. “Since when do you have time to go to confectionery stores? I thought you were always busy.”
Abigail stretched lazily. “I cleared my entire schedule for December. Needed a break.” Then, she scoffed. “Not that my mother cares—she spent our time together lecturing me about marriage and children.”
Aurora leaned back with a knowing smile. “She’s right, though.”
Abigail placed a hand on her chest in mock betrayal. “Et tu, Aurora?”
Aurora laughed. “She just wants the best for you.”
Abigail rolled her eyes but smiled. Then, her expression turned mischievous. “So, any plans for Christmas?”
Aurora nodded. “Scott family’s yearly Christmas vacation.”
Abigail’s smirk deepened. “So that means Owen and his new wife will be there too, huh?”
Aurora sighed. “Most likely.”
Abigail clicked her tongue. “Tea Time’s latest article was wild. I still can’t believe how smart Owen was—getting his mistress pregnant while still married, then conveniently divorcing Olivia and marrying her right after. Talk about efficiency.”
Aurora shook her head. “I was shocked by how fast it happened, but honestly? I’m not surprised. Owen is bound to be Owen. And Olivia was bound to get a taste of her own medicine sooner or later.”
Abigail exhaled. “Yeah, but Owen is still the main villain here. I pity Olivia a little—just a little. But honestly, if she doesn’t learn from all this and repent, then there’s no hope left for her.”
Aurora smirked. “You really think Olivia will learn?” Even, she didn’t think that was possible. She could tell from their recent interactions since she returned to work in the company.
Abigail leaned forward. “Absolutely not. People like Olivia don’t rest until they’ve had their revenge.”
Aurora shrugged. “Well, whatever she does is none of my business. I’m not interfering or telling her what to do.”
Abigail nodded in agreement. Then, after a moment of thought, she asked, “Did you attend Owen’s wedding?”
Aurora let out a short laugh. “No. Xander and I went to the beach instead.”
Abigail grinned. “Smart choice. I guess it was Xander’s idea.”
Aurora simply nodded and reached for another pastry. She had already forgotten the reminder Abigail gave her concerning her sugar levels.
“Well,” Abigail said, standing up and stretching. “I should head out. But enjoy the pastries, and don’t forget—one a day.”
Aurora chuckled after being caught in the act. “Yes, Mom.”
As Abigail walked to the door, she paused. “And let me know if Olivia explodes when she sees Owen and his new wife anywhere. I want to hear all the tea.”
Aurora smirked. “I’ll keep you updated.”
And with that, Abigail gave her an approving nod before leaving with a satisfactory smirk stretched across her lips.
