Chapter 308: The Petty and Stingy Aurora
Scott Family’s Main Residence.
The soft glow of the bedside lamp cast a warm hue over the elegantly furnished bedroom. Juliet stood by the window, arms crossed as she observed the space that, despite her presence, still carried faint traces of Olivia.
She sighed. She didn’t want to share a room with a ghost from the past.
Owen, already lounging on the bed in a black silk robe, watched her with mild amusement. “What’s on your mind?” he asked, setting his phone aside.
Juliet turned to face him, biting her lip before she spoke. “I want to change a few things in here,” she admitted. “I don’t want any memory of Olivia lingering around.”
Owen’s lips twitched into a small smile as he pushed himself up, walking over to her. Without hesitation, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. “Then make a list,” he murmured against her hair. “I’ll have the butler take care of everything.”
Juliet’s face lit up. She snuggled into his chest, inhaling his familiar scent. “Thank you,” she whispered, pressing a kiss to his jaw.
A comfortable silence passed between them before she pulled back slightly, a playful glint in her eyes. “Actually… I’ve changed my mind.”
Owen arched a brow. “Oh?”
Juliet nodded firmly. “I don’t just want to change a few things. I want to change everything—the furniture, the lights, the painting—everything.” She gestured around the room with a determined look. “I want this space to reflect us, not the past.”
Owen frowned slightly at first, but before he could say anything, Juliet continued, her voice softer now. “I just want a fresh start. A bedroom that signifies the beginning of our marriage, not a place tainted by someone else’s presence.”
Owen’s expression shifted as he studied her. Then, slowly, a smile spread across his lips. “Alright,” he agreed, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. “We’ll start fresh. I’ll let the butler know so the work can begin while we’re away for the family vacation.”
Juliet beamed, rising on her toes to kiss him. “You’re the best.”
Owen smirked, tightening his grip around her waist. “I know.”
A moment later, Juliet pulled away with a satisfied sigh and headed towards the bathroom, disappearing behind the door.
As soon as she was gone, Owen grabbed his phone from the nightstand and scrolled through his gallery. His finger hovered over a few wedding photos before selecting one—Juliet in her white dress, standing beside him with a demure smile.
He smirked as he typed out the caption:
“My very supportive and submissive wife and I.”
With a final glance at the photo, he hit post.
Then, setting his phone aside, he leaned back against the headboard, completely ready of the online storm that was about to follow.
His immediate target was Olivia because even though he had blocked her all-round, he was sure the blog pages would carry his post and in the end it would get to her.
He wanted nothing more than to enjoy the thrill it would bring him to know that Olivia was basking in misery at his second marriage.

Xander’s Private Residence.
The front doors swung open, and Xander stepped inside, his black jacket draped over his arm. His sharp eyes scanned the grand foyer as he handed the jacket to the butler.
“Where’s my wife?” he asked without missing a beat.
The butler gave a polite nod. “Ma’am is in the living room, sir.”
Xander didn’t waste a second. He strode toward the living room with purposeful steps, a small smirk already tugging at his lips.
As he entered, the sight before him was nothing short of amusing—Aurora, curled up on the two-seater couch, a contented smile on her lips as she delicately nibbled on a macaron. A box of pastries sat open on the coffee table, half its contents already missing.
Xander leaned against the doorway, arms crossed. “Sweetheart,” he greeted, his voice rich with warmth. “You seem to be enjoying yourself.”

Aurora’s face lit up at the sound of his voice. Without hesitation, she stretched her hand out to him, offering a green macaron. “Take a bite.”
A slow smile formed on Xander’s lips as he walked over. Instead of taking the macaron immediately, he bent down and pressed a lingering kiss to her forehead. Only then did he take a bite out of the pastry she held, chewing thoughtfully before nodding in satisfaction.
“Not bad,” he admitted as he sank onto the couch beside her. “Does the kitchen still have some of this?”
Aurora chuckled. “The kitchen didn’t make these,” she revealed, sensing his interest. “Abigail brought them when she stopped by my office earlier.”
Xander nodded in understanding. “She’s a good friend,” he said, but his gaze drifted back to the nearly empty pastry box.
Aurora noticed, barely holding back her laughter.
Then, as if coming to a realization, Xander met her gaze and pointed at the box. “You’re not supposed to eat that much in one sitting,” he said matter-of-factly.
Aurora tapped her chin, pretending to think. “Hmm… you might be right.” Then, with the most innocent expression, she added, “I’ll refrigerate the rest and eat them later.”
Xander’s lips twitched. He reached out, gently cupping her cheeks in his warm hands. “So you can’t even share with your husband?” he asked, feigning disappointment.
Aurora shook her head with conviction. “Not this particular one.”
Xander narrowed his eyes, studying her intently before letting go. He leaned back against the couch and folded his arms. “When did you become so petty and stingy?”
Aurora smirked and pointed at her baby bump. “Since you planted your seed inside me.”
Xander stared at her for a moment before shaking his head. But then—he couldn’t hold it in anymore. A deep, rich laugh erupted from his chest as he threw his head back in amusement.
Aurora, smugly enjoying her victory, simply popped another macaron into her mouth.
When his laughter died down, Xander straightened and looked at her squarely. “I can’t wait for you to give birth so I can see if you will still be such a drama queen.”
Aurora shrugged, completely unbothered. “Don’t get your hopes up. You might be disappointed.”
Xander smirked. “We will see about that.”
