Chapter 323: Juliet Pays for Disrespecting Aurora
Xander led Aurora into their bedroom, his jaw set tight with barely restrained fury. The moment the door clicked shut behind them, he guided her toward the bed.
“Sit,” he ordered, already reaching for the digital blood pressure monitor from the nightstand drawer.
Aurora sighed, knowing there was no point in protesting. She sat down, rolling up her sleeve as Xander wrapped the cuff around her arm and pressed the start button.
The machine hummed softly, the numbers appearing on the screen within seconds. Xander’s eyes darkened when he saw the results—her blood pressure was elevated.
“Sweetheart,” he said in a warning tone, removing the cuff carefully before setting the device aside. “Lie down for a bit.”
“I’m fine, Xander,” she muttered.
He shot her a look. “You’re not fine. Your blood pressure is high, and I don’t need the doctor to tell me why. That woman must have really angered you.”
Aurora took a deep breath, feeling the tension still thick in her chest. “She didn’t just get to me, Xander. She outright disrespected me.”
Xander tucked her under the duvet and smoothed his hand over her stomach. “Rest first, then we’ll talk.”
But Aurora wasn’t done.
With her anger still bubbling, she launched into the entire ordeal, from Juliet’s subtle jabs a few days ago to the remarks she made about how bold she was for marrying her ex’s uncle and, finally, to what happened on the balcony.
Aurora’s voice rose slightly as she recounted Juliet’s words. “Who does she think she is? She had the audacity to mention my father’s name in such a disrespectful way?!”
Xander’s expression remained cold, though his fingers were rubbing small circles into her back in an attempt to calm her. “She’s gotten too comfortable,” he murmured, his voice dangerously low. “And it’s time she learns her place.”
Aurora exhaled sharply, still seething. “I swear, Xander, if she even looks at me the wrong way again, I will—”
“You won’t have to do a thing,” Xander cut in smoothly. He tilted her chin up gently, his dark eyes promising retribution. “Owen has already been punished for his choices, but Juliet? She’s going to pay for even thinking she could raise her hand against you.”
Before Aurora could respond again, there was a knock on the door.
Xander pulled away and strode over, opening it to reveal one of the servants.
“Master Xander, Madam Aurora,” the servant bowed respectfully. “The old couple has requested for you both in the living room.”
Xander turned back to Aurora, checking her expression to see if she was ready to face whatever it was they were going to meet downstairs.
Aurora inhaled deeply before nodding. “Let’s go.”
Without another word, Xander took her hand and led her out.
—
The moment Aurora and Xander stepped into the grand living room, all eyes turned to her.
At the center of the living room, Juliet was kneeling on the floor.
Her pregnant belly was prominent, but no one in the room seemed to have any sympathy for her.
Old Mrs. Scott stood a few steps away from her, her usually warm expression replaced by a cold, unyielding stare.
The old lady turned toward Aurora the second she and Xander walked in.
“Aurora,” she called, her voice steady but firm. “I heard what happened on the balcony.” She gestured toward Juliet with a single flick of her wrist. “That’s why I had her kneel.”
Aurora’s gaze flickered to Juliet, who kept her head down.
“Now,” Old Mrs. Scott continued, gesturing for Aurora to take a seat. “Tell us exactly what happened.”

Aurora let out a slow breath, her eyes scanning the room. Everyone was here: Old Mr. Scott, Richard. Patricia. Harrison. Eleanor. Owen.
Aurora sat down gracefully, her back straight as she began. She didn’t hold back.
She started from Juliet’s entitled behaviour on the private jet, how she ignored basic respect, to how she made snide comments about her marriage to Xander a few days ago by saying that she didn’t have to worry about her husband leaving her since she was still glowing despite being pregnant, and then how proceeded to take several personal jabs mentioning her bold she was to marry her ex’s uncle.
The, Aurora moved on to today’s incident.
Aurora’s voice never shook, but as she recounted Juliet’s cruel words about her father, a tense silence settled over the room.
Several heads turned toward Juliet, their expressions ranging from disbelief to disappointment.
Owen, in particular, looked humiliated as he shot her a sharp, chilling glare.
Juliet kept her head low, her fingers trembling slightly.
“And that,” Aurora concluded, her voice icy, “was why I slapped her.”
A tense pause followed.
Then, Old Mrs. Scott moved. She marched forward, stopping right in front of Juliet.
“Look at me,” the old lady commanded.
Juliet hesitated, but when she finally lifted her gaze, her left cheek met with the old lady’s right palm.
The sound echoed through the room as her head jerked to the side.
She immediately pressed her palm against her already reddened cheek, but she dared not make a sound.
Aurora, still seated, blinked in slight surprise. It was her first time seeing the old lady discipline someone herself.
Old Mrs. Scott then turned to Patricia. “Discipline your daughter-in-law.”
Patricia’s jaw clenched. She marched forward without hesitation.
And SLAP!
Juliet barely caught herself from falling over.
The ringing in her left ear was so loud, she feared she’d never hear properly again.
Patricia was furious. Not because Juliet had merely insulted Aurora, but because she had made her lose face in front of Eleanor.
Her nails dug into her palm as she ordered coldly, “Go apologize to Aurora. Now.”
Juliet scrambled to her feet, wobbling slightly from the pain, before quickly making her way over to Aurora.
Her voice shook. “I’m sorry.”
Aurora simply stared at her without uttering a word.
Then, Patricia’s sharp voice rang out. “Crawl back and continue kneeling.”
Juliet’s cheeks burned with humiliation, but she obeyed.
The old lady crossed her arms. “Juliet, never again in your life should you dare to disrespect any member of this family.” Her voice was as sharp as a blade. “Is that clear?”
Juliet nodded immediately.
The old lady’s gaze then shifted toward Patricia and Eleanor.
“And the same goes for both of you,” she warned. “I won’t tolerate another childish argument between you two. Let the past stay in the past. If you go against my wishes, I won’t forgive it.”
Patricia and Eleanor exchanged stiff glances but said nothing.
Finally, the old lady turned to Aurora.
“From next year onward,” she declared, “you will be the one in charge of organizing this family’s yearly Christmas vacation.”
Aurora was momentarily speechless.
The entire room turned to look at her. But before she could respond, the old lady’s final warning echoed through the air.
“Remember,” she said, her gaze sweeping over everyone, “whatever happens in this family stays in this family. I don’t want a single word of this reaching the ears of bloggers.”
No one dared disobey. And with that, the meeting was over.
And Juliet, who was broken and humiliated, realized she had made a grave mistake.
She had underestimated herself, and now, she was paying the price.
