Chapter 116: Chapter 116 – Not Coming Back Any Time Soon
“Alpha, Beta Alessia has returned to the pack,” Burke said over the phone. Alpha Denzel froze as relief washed over him. Then again, where could she have gone? He couldn’t help feeling suspicious with all that was going on, though knowing that Alessia would never betray him.
“Put her on the line.”
“Alpha, she’s in the shower,” Burke replied, adding, “she looked tired, and when I tried to talk to her, she went inside the shower.”
Alpha Denzel had a bad feeling about this, requesting, “Put her on the line as soon as she comes out. I’m coming back to the pack.”
Earlier.
Alessia was running from the Omega’s community to the pack house when she felt trapped under something. It covered her whole body. It was a net. As she struggled to get out of it, she felt a burning sensation so raw it caused her wolf to weaken.
She tried to mindlink Alpha Denzel but remembered he was out of the pack, and she had left her phone in her room. Then she tried to mindlink Burke but was slipping into unconsciousness; the mindlink refused to connect.
“Stop struggling. It only brings you into contact with the silver,” one of her pack warriors, Adam, said. Alessia was mad. How could he offer advice instead of getting her out of the net?
Silver was any werewolf’s worst enemy, so how could Adam line the net with it and trap her in inside?
“Adam, what are you doing? Get me out of here,” she commanded. As a beta, she had the same authority over pack members when the Alpha was absent, so Adam did not have the right to refuse.
However, Adam did not attempt to help her out of the net. It seemed he was the person who got her in there. “There is someone who wishes to have a word with you.” That was all Alessia heard before blacking out.
At the Night Shade Pack, Alpha Conrad was interrogating his beta. “What exactly happened? Where did you take the human girl?” Though in a bad condition, the beta was the first person of suspense since he was the one who was last seen by the human girl.
Since Alpha Conrad was a master of kidnapping and buying people over, he could not help suspecting that someone had done the same thing to his beta.
When Troy began to heal and explain, Alpha Conrad slowly relaxed. “I was going to give her breakfast like you told me to do when two men in black covered my face with wolfsbane. I don’t know what happened next.”
“When I woke up in a warehouse, they all wore masks so I couldn’t tell who they were, and their voices were robotic, but I heard them speaking on the phone to someone. The person must have told them that they got the wrong person. I think the person they wanted was you.”

Alpha Conrad frowned that the person deserving of the torture was him. As the master of all evil, who was even bold enough to double-cross him when even the smart ones like Alpha Denzel were not able to figure out who was behind their problems.
“So, they brought you here?” He asked, wondering if the assailants were still looking for him around the pack. Whoever these people are, they needed to be put in their place as it seemed they were bad news.
At first, it was the Yellowstone pack, and now, it was the Night shade pack. Something had to be done, and Alpha Conrad was ready to do so.
“No. They beat me up because of the wolfsbane and left, thinking I was dead. I had to crawl here,” Troy lied. Saying it that way would inject the fear into Alpha Conrad that somebody wanted him dead.
It was the same way he projected the fear in Alpha Denzel concerning the latter’s loved ones. It was time to reap what he had sowed.
“So, you didn’t see the human girl?” He asked with concern as that was the only hold he had on Kailani. Should he call her again without allowing her to speak to the human girl, she might suspect something happened to her and even inform Alpha Denzel.
Conrad feared that should Alpha Denzel find out all that he was doing, he was sure to not just kiss his life but also his pack goodbye.
“No. I don’t know where they took her. Alpha, I almost died.” He feigned fear in his eyes. The beating was real as Alpha Denzel already warned him about it. Godic was so heartless, not showing the slightest mercy in beating him to a pup.
Well, it was a small price to pay compared to having the Alpha title of his pack. “But you are alive, so don’t you have a clue as to who is responsible?” Alpha Conrad suddenly asked, being afraid of not knowing his enemies.
“Honestly, I was only thinking of survival,” Troy said, laughing in his heart as he saw the fear in his Alpha’s eyes.
“Okay, focus on getting better,” Alpha Conrad finally said, about to leave when a warrior ran to him with a phone and said, “Alpha, it’s Adam.”
Troy could only guess that Adam was another of Alpha Conrad’s spies, his ears piqued with interest as Alpha Conrad quickly took the phone from the warrior and asked, “Adam, what is it?”
“I got Beta Alessia. She’s unconscious in my car.”
Alpha Conrad was the one who instructed it but was now afraid. Though the phone was not on speaker, Troy could hear faintly what was being said since Alpha Conrad sat close to his bed.
He didn’t sound amused by the news as was expected. “You should have waited for my order. Things are too complicated now.”
“I wouldn’t have been able to get her any other way. This was my only chance,” Adam said, as he wanted favor with Alpha Conrad. He had no idea that Alpha Conrad had long changed his mind about killing Alessia.
