Chapter 203: Chapter 203 – Mate?
The sleep cleared from Valerie’s eyes as she checked Alpha Denzel’s pulse. There was still life in him, and she was excited, taking out her phone, but the battery was low.
Her hands shook a little as she took her chances and instantly dialed Alessia’s number, lest the phone go off. Valerie had handled a lot of emergencies as a Luna, but Denzel’s situation felt different.
It was as if their hearts were somehow intertwined, and she was living in constant fear of the what-ifs.
“Val, how is Las Vegas? Are you having fun?” Alessia asked as soon as the call connected. She was excited for Valerie’s return, eager to hear about her experience in the human world.
Alpha Denzel had promised that she would go after their return, but the news she heard shook her a little.
Valerie sighed with relief and overlooked the pleasantries, speaking in a serious tone.
“Alessia, Denzel is injured. We are coming with a chopper. Inform the pack.”
“What is a chopper?” Alessia asked. Valerie was only concerned about her battery. She was not sure if Godic had Alessia’s number and had to ensure her message went through before the phone battery died.
The battery was already blinking, so she summarized it the best way she could. “It flies in the air. Just tell the warriors to give access to anything flying in the air. We are close.”
Alessia was even more confused about anything flying in the air. Was it a bird? How could they come in a bird? “I don’t understand. What are you saying? Hello?”
The line had disconnected, and Valerie felt helpless. “She doesn’t know what a chopper is, just like me before,” Valerie said aloud.
Godic was hopeful that as long as she mentioned that they were on their way, that was enough.
“At least she knows we are coming, and that is enough. Isn’t Adira the beta? Who is Alessia?” Godic asked with interest.
Valerie was surprised that Denzel had not informed him, but after what she experienced during her short time in Las Vegas, she could not completely blame Denzel for it.
Seemed like aside from pack wars, the human world was more bustling with businesses than them. Unlike the pack where ‘all for one’ meant ‘one for all,’ the human world sang a different song with the message, ‘everybody for himself, God for us all.’

“Seems you have been away for a very long time. Adira is mated to Troy, the beta of the Night Shade Pack. He is now the Alpha, and she is the Luna,” Valerie summarized the best way she could.
Godic nodded his head in agreement. It seemed a lot had really changed since he left the pack years ago.
“I see. I’ve been out of touch, but we are here now. Oh, shit. The trees. We can’t land in front of the pack house.”
Valerie panicked as the understanding sank in, but she thought quickly and suggested, “Then land at the training ground. We can use a vehicle to get him to the pack hospital.”
At the pack house, Alessia did not know what to expect and did not even know how to inform the warriors.
She ran out of the pack house, sat in one of the cars, and drove to the pack gate. Before she reached there, she received a mind link.
‘Beta Adira, there is something flying over our pack. Should we prepare for war?’ One of the warriors at the gate asked through mind link. She instantly guessed it was what Valerie talked about.
‘No. No war. Can you tell where it is?’ She asked seriously via the same channel. The warrior narrated in response.
‘It’s like it’s going to the training ground.’
‘I will take care of it,’ Alessia said and disconnected the mind link. She made a U-turn, and as she got close to the training ground, she saw something like a car coming down, except it was bigger and with some kind of a huge fan on top of it.
“Is this what Valerie was talking about?” She asked no one in particular, but due to the wind accompanying the machine, she pulled over at a distance.
Pack warriors were already closing up as well, though there was no call for war. The sound of the chopper caused even the pack members to gather around.
They were only relieved when they saw their Luna. “Luna,” they began to yell, but Valerie could only force a smile before Alessia ran towards her and hugged her.
“What happened?” Alessia asked after pulling away.
It was obvious from Valerie’s demeanor that things were not as they seemed.
“Bring the car. He was shot protecting me, and can you mind link them to go away? I don’t want them to see him like that,” Valerie said pleadingly. Without the mark, she was not privy to mind link.
Alessia ran back to the car at the same time mind linking the pack members and warriors.
‘Everyone, it’s fine. Go back to your duties.’
Not having satisfied their curiosity, they were reluctant but eventually turned and began to leave.
“Tell her to mind link the pack doctor,” Godic spoke from inside the chopper, feeling a strange unease. Before Valerie could pass the information, Alessia responded,
“I heard him, but who is he?” She was equally feeling uneasy and mind linked the pack doctor.
‘Get to the training ground with some staff and a stretcher. The Alpha is injured.’
She had not seen the level of injury, but not seeing Alpha Denzel come out only meant it was severe. She was already panicking but tried to stay strong.
It was not up to two minutes when four medical staff ran towards them. The doctors were already checking on Alpha Denzel and moved him to the stretcher before Godic disembarked from the chopper.
His eyes landed on a woman he had never seen before, and his wolf came alive after being away from his pack for many years. “Mate?”
